Ironically I think the pressure is on meath. They are in a position that they need to show something tangible, i.e. silverware.
Removing the 2010 from the equation, the return from the meath team is dire in the last fifteen years. Players like kevin reilly, eoin harrington, mickey burke, shane o rourke, Stephen bray, graham reilly, brian meade, seamus kenny etc. etc. have been around for a long time.
I fully believe you will put Dublin to the pin of their collar with the rivalry and the marked improvement in the meath team in the last 6 months you could possibly win it. But one swallow doesn't make a summer and the victory over Kildare showed up their inadequacies again. If you are good enough to win it I will congratulate you. One worth of warning though don't ever criticise any other teams for time wasting again in the future. Ye had it to a fine art yesterday in the last 5-10 minutes between slow kick its, fellas tying laces repeatedly and lying down. I would say 7 minutes injury time should have been played so what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Adamski, I agree with regards to the time-wasting etc etc

However, I don't blame Meath for that, They only did what i would expect anyother team to do including the Dubs who have also been guilty of it in the past. It may not be nice for the neutral to watch or indeed opposition players and fans but you got to do what you got to do and so i certainly wont have a go at Meath for doing it.

How do you stop it ? Simple, You add the time on at the end wether its 5 6 7 minutes "injury" time and thatd be easier if you take the time-keeping away from the referee who already has unbelievable responsibility for one man on the pitch, Either that or stop the time whenever the game is stopped therefore sitting on your backside tying your laces etc

Heard it from home area. Apparently hamstring not improving as hoped, so is doubtful . but hopefully will make it as I think we really need him in final.

110% lies.

Meath are in with a good chance they proved that with yesterday's game. First 15 minutes will tell all should be a good final on the royals

Lads i think the Dublin backs will will not sleep well over the next few weeks, these Meath forwards have real speed and once there get on the ball they have only one thing on there mind head for the square were there is a good chance they will get a score or be pull down and get a free in front of the goalposts i will put a few pound on Meath to win this game

Regarding the team selection it will come down to whether Newman is fit and we would have to be hopeful on that front. In my opinion tactics are crucial for this one. We need to stop Dublin getting goals even if that means sacrificing some possession further out the field. We need to completely shore up the middle of the defence and force Dublin to go for long range points. This might put a bit more pressure on them. The last thing we want is for them to get through for a couple of goals as this will give them unstoppable momentum. Philisophy must be thou shall not pass.

If it was me, I think that i would bring Menton back to CHB, pick Carroll at wing forward and ask him to play in the hole in front of the full back for the first half and work his socks off in the knowledge that he will probably play for just 45/50 minutes. Then bring in Seamus Kenny into the same role. Carroll has an advantage as he might be able to set up some attacks. Same with midfield, tell them to hit and hit again and, if one tires, then Flanagan in at 50 mins.

Team
POR, Keoghan, Reilly, Harrington, Tobin, Menton, Harnan, Meade, S O'Rourke, Carroll, Mc Mahon, Tormey, G. Reilly, S. Bray, M. Newman.

Also G. Reilly in middle to break things up.

I would also consider keep Tormey up between half and full forward line and try and feed some high balls up in the first half. Then swap him with Shane O'Rourke in 2nd half. If Shane doesnt tire too much outfield he might do some damage under the high ball in the 2nd.

Still going to be very hard but, if we allow them come at us, we are in serious trouble.

i think its worth looking at putting a time limit on a frees ie 30 secs for a ball park figure that if goal keepers what to take frees 45s etc they don't spent 2 mins every-time to take one. its so frustrating to watch IMO

What's the story with Sean Curran? I don't think he was there with the squad Sunday and was removed from subs.

guys we did not show our hand against Kildare and played the second half with an eye on Dublin game. Don't read too much into the second half- we won and will beat Dublin.

Meath starting 15... For Leinster Final!

1.PO'R

2.Keoghan
3.Reilly
4.Young

(We need Keoghan for whoever plays Corner F for Dublin, Costello, McManamon etc. Young in there because dont think Burke or Harrington would have the pace to mark Costello, McManamon etc..)

5.Harnan
6.Menton
7.Carroll

8.SO'R
9.Tormay

(Tormay would bring a lot more phyiscality to Midfeild, and all so well able to Feild kickouts etc..)

10.Tobin
11.McDonagh
12.Reilly

(3 players well able to cope with Dublins Half Back pace and power)

13.McMahon
14.S.Bray
15.Newman

Joey Wallace, Brian Meade if Midfeild gets tired, Seamus Kenny, David Bray, Mickey Burke or Eoghan Harrington if Young is starting to tire and Adam Flanagan played well when introduced against Kildare, can push SO'R or Tormay to Centre Forward instead in Flanagan comes in.

An eye on Dublin, that's a joke. We were on the ropes, hanging on for final whistle against a very poor Kildare team. Need to sort out this constant fade out, same in league played in bursts but were unable to sustain momentum.

SEADOB 54 Agree absolutely ! Must accept that this problem exists . Think overall fitness levels not up to standard may contribute to fade out. No room for less than 100% from every man in order to have any chance against the Dubs!!

All very well in theory re: "Reilly breaking down ball" ;it seems like everyones team includes the 2 Reillys (first names on sheet?)

BUT the lads I talk to are having CONNIPTIONS about including Graham Reilly in starting 15 next day out....not tracking fast inter-passing v Kildare was mentioned....not sure we have an alternative though

Better clarify - my first name down on any teamsheet is Kevin Reilly

RoyalstPat why don't you come on here and name the team YOU think should play instead of quoting others that are slagging off Graham Reilly? He has been a great servant for Meath and in my opinion has the experience and can do a job for us on July 20th.

I notice alot of Dubs about who are under estimating meaths ability. This game is alot closer than the 11/2 odds me got in the bookies. really hope we can do the buisness on the 20th and send the dubs packing in their own back yard.
