Obviously playing teams like Kildare and Dublin may cause us to switch around the backs, for marking
Also having u21's like James and Shane mc entee as well as joey Wallace may be good to have on the bench and try out against Carlow if we're comfortable.

For me,full forward is a position that I had trouble with,Stephen bray is good on his day but can also go missing on occasions.
I haven't forgotten about any tourney,he is a play that could come on and play either at half forward or midfield as he is a powerful runner.

I'm open to suggestions at full forward because it really did trouble me finding a player suitable enough to play there

Impossible to pick the team, but don't think Carroll would be a good enough defender in Croke Park against better sides... Also I would be very surprised if O'Sullivan will be fit enough to start against Carlow, being out for a while...

Sorry but that is the worst selection I have seen so far.. Keoghan is a good centre back, but we NEED him at corner back

Meath4life, just as well you are not picking the team.

Were you at any of tyhe league games? Tormey was very close to being our best performer. I had to read it twice to see that you dont have him on the starting 15. And, I thnk that we have better options than Menton at centrefield. Have you forgotten about Gillespie or do you think that he will be injured?

I agree with Trim 1 to be honest

Cheers for that Ziggy. Is it just me or why are we so late out again this year? Are my calculations right in thinking we one of last counties to start same as last year.

Luck of the draw. And it ain't a bad draw. We have Carlow in the quarters which was one of the best we could have got. Only downside is it's away and they're decent at home.

We play winner of Louth/Westmeath/Kildare who are all on a downward spiral so we will have every chance in a semi if we make it there. That would set the winner up nicely in the final against the Dubs presuming they beat the likes of Laois and Wexford which is not foregone.

But yeah we will probably be the last team out as it's almost 2 months away. Long wait and plenty of club football to be played.

With the injuries we have,it is a good thing that we are out late

Jack_Goff, wouldnt really say Carlow are in any way decent at home. So far this year they've won 1 match there, beating Antrim by a point. That win was sandwiched between a 19 point beating by Tipperary and a 14 point beating by Wicklow, both in Dr.Cullen park. They were also at home for a 10 point defeat in the O'Byrne cup to Longford.

Even in the championship they're very poor, home or away. In the last 5 years they have only played 1 championship match at home, losing by 10 points to Laois last year. If anything their best reults come away from home, their win vs Louth in 2011 was in Portlaoise, and draw against us in 2012 was in Tullamore.

So really we have the best draw possible: playing the worst team in Leinster (in fact probably worst in Ireland), who have an awful home record, and who are missing their best player.

I also think the late start will be of benefit with amount of players out injured. Also while nothing is foregone we should win in carlow.
Team I'd go with is
Orourke
Keoghan
Reilly
Young
Harnan
Menton
Burke
Gillespie
Orurke
Mcmahon
Tormey
Reilly
Bray
Bray
Newman

If Newman is out who should take frees/45s?

Newman is back playing for his club, but isn't Harnan handy from 45s?

O Rourke
Keoghan
Reilly
Burke
Harnan
Menton
Gilsenan
O Rourke
Gillespie/Meade
Cillian O Sullivan
Tormey
Biggy
McMahon
S Bray
Newman

If Cillian O Sullivan isnt fit, Id start with Mark.
If the two lads are injured at midfield, Id start with Biggy and Shane O Rourke, bring in either Mark O Sullivan or Damien Carroll.

Just my opinion, I know people wont want to see Gilsenan at HB, but I thought he was decent.
Also, worth noting that Brian McMahon has done excellently and is certain to start, may be a bit light to play 11 where id like to see him, but will grow into his position.
