cant see us been setup nicely for next year Championship playing teams in Div 2 next year and how come Monaghan came from div 3 with us last year to Div 2 and now they are in Div 1 are we miles behind Monghan now ? why shouldn't we be asking the same as Monghan Supporters or are we use going to except that and div 2 football is except-able now ? we need to change our mind set But i know MOD agrees with what i am saying because i heard him say it a good few times that div 1 is the only place to to challenge for All-Ireland we are not going to do it from Div 2.

I don't think we're miles behind anyone much less Monaghan and again yes of course I would like to see us in division 1 but I don't think we are going to be hopelessly hindered by playing in division 2 next season either. It takes time to change a mind set, growing up I expected Meath to win Leinster and challenge for the AI every year, why? because I regularly saw Meath winning major honours.

But be haven't been a top team since 2001 and the best way to rectify that is to put the correct structures in place, something our CB has been very poor at in the past, develop our young players and yes eventually get promotion to div 1 and hopefully start challenging for major honour again.

But I certainly wouldn't write off the next 2 championships just because we're not a div1 team, no way, our target this year should be the last 8 and take it from there, next year we should hope for more, but lets just wait and see.

Few ups few downs. I'm still optimistic about Leinster. But I feel we left promotion behind us, will we have as good a chance next year? Hard to know.
The injury list biggest negative.

bobkarlgees, i reckon you would be happier if meath got relegated. (more to complain about)

unfortunatey in this county we just seem like we're never gonna shake off the last few moaners who complain about everything even though things are more promising than ever.
Maybe other counties have them too, i dunno.....drives me crazy! support your county or not!

From watching Meath the last number of years we are in a better place now than we were for many years.
We actually look fit which we didn't for some of the early stages of the league last year.
Results this year have been decent , we didn't turn up in Clones, and should of really beaten Armagh.
The defense looks a lot stronger and we have stopped letting teams run through us
Shane O'Rourke and Andrew Tormey will be key to our success come championship time.
Retaining Breaking ball from kick outs seems to be better than i can ever remember it
Bray and Biggy will come good over the next few weeks , they generally do.
It's much improved lads over the last 18 months since MOD appointment , and i think we could have a real crack at leinster

HTeam again i agree with what your saying we where spoilt growing up seen Meath win All-Ireland etc ,,but still disagree reckon Div 2 will hinder progress in championship next year.
just trying to challenge a over all attitude league dosent really matter and it will be "all right come championship" that day is long gone.

just interesting info All-Ireland finalist for the past 10 years how many of these play in Div 2 Down is only one cant remember where either in Div 1 and got regulated to Div 2 or won div2 to go to div 1 either way we can see the trend Div 1 is must for me anyway

I know things have changed and realistically we do have to be in div1 to challenge for AI's but fact of the matter is we will be heading into next year's championship on the back of a div2 campaign. That's just the way it is no matter how much we dislike it so lets go out and push hard for promotion next season.

But again don't let our league status cause you to lose heart, div2 was pretty good this year so don't throw in the towel before the first ball is thrown up.

You clearly haven't looked at this team enough to realise what we have on our hands!
bar k.reilly, m.burke, s.o'rourke, g. reilly and the brays, pretty much everyone else is under the age of 24/25!

Fair enough div1 is where everyone wants to be, but give them time to build a team that is capable of competing (which is what mick.o'dowd is doing now)!
We can all drive the team down and talk about the glory days past, but what use is that. We need patience with this....something a lot of meath supporters don't have in abundance. e.g. the famous Pairc Tailteann phrase that is heard from TOO many fans----
'Would ya KICK IT IN LONG!!??' <---- come on lads im a purist as much as the rest, but that game don't work no more... anyway rant over
