Intermediate championship 2014

i have my own opinions on that royaldunne, anyone who witnessed jamie quenney last sunday over shane o rourke would get the message,in fairness its not as bad as it used to be,south meath players getting chances now but back in the 80"s & 90"s there was a line drawn in trim.i think nicky judge should get a chance next year to impress, the best defender i have seen at intermediate & senior level this season.

But that's a side issue. Now that cilles are unfortunately out, I'll be supporting the bracks all the way.
Time and venue? I'll make the trip to cheer on the green and gold.

I'm glad to hear that thelutch. In fairness I was thinking of how bad it was in 80s when I made my point, but I feel juicy could have filled a important role in HB line or even midfield this year, but I presume age is catching up with him at this stage, yeah I think Jamie queeney has made the strongest point this year at the management selection fiasco and I trust mod will rectify that. As for Nicky I totally agree he must be given his chance in senior jersey, a great prospect.
Thelutch are you confident of a win the next day??.

RoyalDunne, no offence to Clonard, but looking at the rolls of honour it seems the Junior B title won in 2011 was the first championship silverware they ever won. At that rate of going they're hardly going to produce too many Meath senior footballers.

lads can we keep this about the inter championship not local incorrect opinion ...
THe two semi finals will be v good games looking forward to both of them .Bracks / ratoath will be entertaining but realistically Ratoath will win this one probably with few to spare .lough / castletown will be interesting also with the castletown men surely to reach the decider .ratoath to go senior..

@ castlebravo,i seem to remember been in the stand the second day of the famous 4 games against the dubs,i remember a certain john mc dermott coming on in extra time who at the time was a junior b player from drumconrath i think, the rest is history,if a player is good enough it should not matter what club or grade he plays at,the meath team of 1999 had 2 or 3 junior players on it if im not mistaken.

agree with Roger Rabbit here, nobody wants a history lesson lads. Can we just look forward to the weekend.
I find it incredible the second semi (ratoath/bracks) is on straight after the All Ireland Final. Surely not enough is being said about that. I would have like to have gone to that game in Trim, but with it being so close the All Ireland, I wont make it in time. Ridiculous from CB.

Well said Roger - everyone has an opinion on who should or should not be on a Meath panel. I very much doubt if the address of any individual influenced the likes of Sean Boylan when picking any of his great teams
The heading on this discussion forum is the 'Intermediate Championship' so lets restrict the comments to that subject and refrain from going off in a tangent about other unrelated issues.

No offense to anyone , but a couple of corrections, John McDermott was a Curraha player who transferred to Skryne after he made it to the big time with the Meath seniors ( Not Drumcondrath) . In relation to players who should get a go in the Meath jersey , having looked at the Senior , and intermediate games all year , I have to agree, Queeney , Ward , definitely should be looked at again from the senior team , if only to add a bit of physicality to the forward line . Jamie has been consistently good for Na Fianna, and has a bit of steel in him , and ward while he is an enigma , has to be worth a couple of points in every game , a managers job is to manage players and to get the best out of those players , maybe that was the issue with both of these exponents of the game , maybe MOD didn't know how to manage them, unlike some of the more vaunted players that drift in - and out of games for their club and county too often , M Newman, G Reilly, I watched both these players play in the inter championship recently for their club , both players were essentially restricted by a man marker ( a good club man marker , but still a man marker) ,Joey Carry , of Castletown . But in both of this games the one man that stood out in possession , and from going forward was a player called Kevin Ross ... I'm not sure what a player needs to do to be noted by MOD , but for club consistency , skill , speed, and a sheer drive and will to perform , I haven't seen anyone better him this year , as stated , his displays for Castletown in those two crucial matches were heads above that of his much vaunted inter-county opponents .Along with that I believe he did make a couple of appearance with the Meath Juniors this year , in which he did perform adequately.

This could be the straw that breaks the horses back , for a number of teams in the Semi's , Castletown have been knocking for a couple of years now, can be brilliant and do have a brilliant team spirit , Ballinlough have flattered to deceive in previous years but now appear to have their mojo , and are a big physical team , who can dominate a lesser physical, but more skilful team , with a fine leader in Peadar Byrne , though this may be make or break time for them also .
Ratoath , while they have been impressive , like they were initially last year ,can implode , and must be delighted that they got their get out of jail card against their Quarter final opponents last week end . Unfortunately for Syddan the fuel tank just appeared to run dry in the last 10 minutes .
Semis been run so quickly after competitive Quarters is madness , game injuries are difficult to get over in a week . I think the COB shot themselves in the foot with regards to giving the folks value for money , the fitter the players the more entertaining the games . I'd hate to see the semis been devalued because a number of core performers are nt at the height of their fitness levels ... Why run the semis off so quickly ?
