I disagree that only division 1 teams are getting players picked as the captain is Kyle Dixon and what division is Boardsmill?? I think the panal is made up of lower division player's

Good point BUTTERFLY however how many from the Div. 1 teams make up the panel. I think I counted 8 Dunboyne lads at the last training session ???? How many from the other Div.1. teams????

Boys , hopefully you haven't stumbled onto the token lower division syndrome . Where out of a Panel of thirty you have 1 or 2 lower Div players . Div 1,2, 3, supply 85-90% of team ...... Ergo , All the good players are in the top tier divisions . Even though the likelihood that they are currently in the top divisions is due to what's gone before and not who are playing that division now..... Unfortunately this tends to be the case in selection and Dev. squads.

There are many div 1 teams such as Dunboyne and Asbourne with a handfull of players on the panel . But simonstown Gaels seem to be short even though outstanding players like Chris o'neil and Aaron Farrelly and Brian mc Grath . Chris could fill that mobile full forward job , Farrelly could come in to the backs and mcgrath can play anywhere , he has been watched over the years and was key player with pats this year and started ahead of Carey morely and leddy but was not given a chance . All because he took a year of to win an all Ireland in athletics which was successful

WHOFORMINOR - I agree with you, I have seen the players you mentioned..O'Niell & McGrath etc and they are very good players who have served the Green & Gold jeresy well in the past. Have seen them over the years. Like you and apparently many others, this panel selection is baffling especially when you see some of the players you also mentioned that were selected ahead of them. O'Niell would be the big mobile quick full forward with both feet that we need, especially playing with that lad Rowe. Was Mcgrath not badly injured in a nothing match up in Cavan??? There was also a few other players who stood out in matches I attended, there was a big stong mobile half forward from one of the smaller clubs -dont know his name - but he regularly featured all the way up to the first league match and do not see him at any of the current matched. He played against our club minor team and ruled the roost against us, scoring for fun. Even Sean Boylan on the sideline thought he was a fine player and a Meath type player,a strong runner with good hands and bags of committment & physicality. Where is he?? Did he make the panel?? Did not see him at any of the last few matches???? can anyione tell me about this guy??? He was a lot more effective than any of those lads you mentioned...Carey Morely and Leddy.

MEATHBLUE I am sorry but it seems as if your clutching at sour grapes here over a club mate of relative that did not make the panel. If so move on Henry Shefflin never played minor so forget about it.

Yeah, point well made & taken. Suppose we all get a bit focused on our own club players. That doesnt lessen the fact that the likes of O Niell & McGrath and whoever that other big fast lad was (????? can anyone tell me who is he and from which club) should be all playing. Recent challenge matches have not gone well which does not bode well for the Championship. Heard that O Carroll may be looking to make some changes, even at this late stage with the injuries roster. A lot of player sit outs at last training session. Would say Wicklow are beatable, but have some good players but it is probably the next match after that will be the key???? Any thoughts????

Anyone??? Can you tell me what happened against Monaghan & Clare. Could not make either matches. Both teams beat full strength Monaghan teams in February matches, how come we got hammered last week???? Losing to Clare in the first half as well but turned it around in the second half is what I heard??? Did not play wellm in either matches or most of the matches since League ended???? Looks like as someone posted earlier.....looks like a barren year???

Minor team named, what do people expect from them this year? Better than last year? I think Rowe looks a very good prospect..

Looking at the panel, I cant help but think there are better lads available who haven't been picked.

Anything less than a point a man win will be a regarded as a poor result

There must be a few injuries, to be honest the team doesn't look near as strong as I would have expected as the U-16 team 2 years ago was strong. No Gavin Mc Gowan,Jack O' Sullivan, Harry Purcell, Kyle Dixon (all involved last year and still underage), one of the Ratoath lads that played with Meath in the Gerry Reilly 2 years ago is now with Dublin I think and I would have expected Ricky Mc Dermott (RIP), who featured prominently in the Leinster tournament 2 years ago at U-16 level, to be one of our main players. Crosbie (Rathkenny) and James Reilly (Gael Colmcille) were two good players in the Gerry Reilly tournament a couple of years ago as well.

Where are these players now then? Maybe they are not as good or progressed in the last few years, maybe the mentality is better with some of the players on the team now? and yes, perhaps there are injuries too...

All the players you have named have either stopped playing or are injured.

Kyle Dixon and McGowan would be massive losses to this team through injury as they would be part of the spine of the team, but they should still be getting over wicklow with little difficulty. Not too sure where them other lads have gone to this year
