Some win for the tones, anyone at it?

Tones just had far more experience and composure on the ball. They absolutely lorded it in midfield as well. Apart from the two Wallaces and Conor McGill, we looked disjointed and panicky. Lost count of the number of times we lost the ball in contact. Also had three misses from straight in front of the posts.

Though the way the game was decided was ridiculous. David Gough made some very funny decisions in my opinion. How we weren't reduced to 14 in the first half I'll never know.

I was at it. Dour game but fair play to tones... not like rataoth to be getting ahead of themselves.. thought they only had to show up and they were heading straight to a championship title without any hassle whatsoever.

Thomas O'Reilly was on the senior panel this year. Ward, O'Neill and Sheppard all have senior inter county experience

That didn't take long. You're talking complete rubbish as is always the case when people come out with the above. But I suppose I can't stop you spouting uninformed tripe.
People are acting like Tones are a Junior B side. They've Tom O'Reilly in their side along with 4 ex Meath senior players with a smattering of ex minors. Ratoath are still a team where the vast majority of players are in their early 20s in their second season of senior football.

I was at match tonight and I did not see any big fire power- 4 points each at half time in ideal conditions - what are you smoking?

Was at game last night also.....sorry stuff for a meath QF with 8 senior county panellists on show. Ideal conditions. The lack of composure of players when they get within 30 metres these days is alarming within the county. The big plus for me was McGill at full back. He was exceptional. Joey Wallace is clearly a top club forward but just too small for county

Uninformed tripe?? How? Was it not a dour game lacking in quality?? And I work with 2 rataoth lads (not players I might add) and my God the nonsense out of them was hilarious. Talking about competing for leinster club titles.. and talking about playing dunboyne or simonstown in the semi final. Barely mentioned tones once. They even got a challenge against kilmacud crokes last weekend because in their words "they were at that level now" and got absolutely beaten out the gate. So not tripe at all.

Forgot to add that is was a very entertaining match being level on a number of times with Ratoath leading for most of normal time. The shooting and passing was poor by both sides (and that is a common feature in most matches). Either side could have won with the more experienced getting over the line. Guys have been posting here about reducing the number of teams at senior rank and that would improve the standard, which to me makes little sense. I do think that matches in the knockout stages of the championship which end up level at full time should be decided by a replay -not extra time

In fairness any time they did get the ball up to their forwards them seemed to score most of the time, Ratoath had nearly all the ball but couldn't go more than 1 or 2 points ahead of the tones the whole way through the game. Wolfe Tones wont be strong enough to go any further in my opinion but it is some achievement to come this far after playing in a relegation play-off last year,

I agree that ratoath are young and hopefully will come good in the coming years but a couple of things were obvious from last night's game. The main one being that without a midfield they are going to struggle to win games against the top teams( I know cian o brien was out) but they didn't win a kickout last night with corrigans old head and superb workrate to the fore. Their forwards were very fast- tho tones put quick backs on danger men- but when plan A didn't work they didn't seem to have an alternative. Mc gill looked very classy and joey wallace was a threat but after that they failed to deliver. I have to say the wonderful save from tones keeper in first half definitely changed game . All in all best team progressed and will be a handful for anyone

You extrapolated the views of two people not involved in the Ratoath set up to be the view of the entire Ratoath team. So, yes, tripe is exactly what it is.
I have my doubts about that situation actually happening after being around the club regularly but knock yourself out.

Actually it was probably their less hearlded players that impressed last night, like shane glynn, niall o reilly and Stephen corrigan was outstanding in midfield. They really are well balanced with no real superstars but no obvious weak links either
