Bit of a coincidence that Both Toher and Burke were not playing hurling last night. Longwood have actually come out saying he could not play under orders and toher was pucking about moving freely which is basically saying he cant play? Clubs loosing out again.

Agreed.

I'm not sure Tullamore suits this Meath team and the big strong Kildare lads will relish the smaller dimensions of the pitch. Would much rather the much faster Meath players got the run of Croke Park against Kildare.

Brian McMahon also didn't feature for Ratoath in the SHC yesterday.

Fairly sure Tullamore pitch slightly bigger than Croke Park believe it or not

JJ1 From a quick measure Tullamore appears to be the larger of the two pitches. Croke Park appears to be 91 meters wide by 149 meters long, where as Tullamore appears to be 93 meters wide and 152 meters long. Had a look at Navan too it appears to be 96 meters wide and 140 meters long.

Interesting. Wonder what Parnell is. Seems tiny

Ah grand then we are laughing so :) I still dont like Tullamore lovely grounds nice pitch just bad memorys there. I think if it is a big pitch it should suit us tough.

The maximum size of a pitch is 90m by 145m and minimum size is 80m by130m-I think. I'm not aware of any pitches anywhere above maximum size! These can be approximated on google map but shadows can confuse, however sometimes the space around the pitch (between pitch and pailing/wall) which should be 5m is in many cases including Tullamore nowhere near 5m. Who will the pitch favour is difficult to ascertain and I do not think that it is as big a CP which is maximum size. I would have though that Tullamore would be close in size to PP. It is a very good summer pitch.

Hi Leitrim - Parnell park appears to be 83 meters wide and 140 meters long, so yes it would be the smallest.
browncows is correct regarding the maximum and minimum size of a GAA pitch, while I have measure from goal post to goal post for the length of the pitchs which would be a fixed length, the width is more difficult to assess as it may vary depending of the location of the side lines. In Croke Park the side lines are fairly well defined with the running track around the pitch but in the likes of Tullamore and Navan sometimes the flags seem far away from you when you are standing on the side line.

Got mine there now at SV. 25 quid for the stand. Don't fancy getting drenched again at half-time like the back-door qualifier vs. Laois all those years ago; Banty's last game :)

Think Wallace could lose his place for this one .need to shore up defence for this one. This has been a big problem for a long time now louth are a poor team and we gave them at least 5 goal chances that's just not good enough but we have two weeks and forwards are going well toher to start this will be tight kildare are as fit as us so bench will be huge

yeah wallace didn't really use his pace. worked hard but struggled to get into the game. could be a great option from the bench though.

I was told yesterday by someone who *should* know that he's been dropped. I don't know whether to believe it or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. Now that they have discovered a couple of capable free-takers, I'm not sure what Newman brings to the party.

Its sad for him personally if that's the case, I think he suffered more over past few years than most, and maybe physically wasn't able for the new fitter Meath under McEntee.
