yeah and that is fair imo.

What part of wrong do you not understand?

I don't believe players have played more league matches for their clubs this year. Could they not get injured playing amongst themselves? Or in Micky mouse pitch opening next weekend ? It is a disgrace that with 6 weeks to championship this was allowed to happen. The players are first and foremost club players. In Tyrone players play 12 out of 15 league matches for their clubs. If this was another manager doing this there would be an outcry from a lot more

The players are first and foremost club players. >> Well you see, that's probably not true anymore, sadly. And that's the problem in a nutshell. The county rules all, what the county manager says goes, and the county board will just go along with it, as will the players. I just thought Andy would be a little more old-school in terms of letting lads play with the clubs.

The only way around that I can see it would be if the players just said "screw it, I'm playing for my club". But of course that would be (inter-county) career suicide.

I suppose none of us will care if Meath have a couple of big wins in the summer, though it's questionable whether lads playing a few extra club league games will impact drastically on Leinster SFC.

But if the club's got together and en mass did not release their players to county then things would change

I thought management said earlier in year that players would be released to play for clubs?

Anyone know if they are allowed play this weekend, or at least the lads not involved on Sunday against Down in Kilmainham?

Replying To GoalsWinGames:  "That is utter nonsense, of the highest order. You are suggesting that players of inter-county standard can't play different systems/levels over a period of a few weeks. I agree that Andy needs time with his players to have them in the best shape possible for early June but he should be able to factor club activity into their schedule and still get the best out of them. What was wrong with playing their training game on Wednesday and leave them off with their clubs at the weekend, especially the lads who are on the fringes.
You mention that because the likes of Dublin and Donegal are doing it then so should we but you forget that we've been doing it for years too and it's not working. We need to get back to basics, a professional approach with a sense of an understanding of the bigger picture."
We have been doing it for years, under bad management. This year is different. Andy should have total control over his panel, fringe or not, in 2012 keoghan was a fringe player and only for injury to Kenny would not have played, he was nom for ypoty in 12. Everyone matters, they had a game in Dunboyne and naturally couldn't play for clubs, Andy will release them when he can,

Good man Royaldunne.

Actually my club had an internal match between ourselves at the weekend also.

We didn't release our county players to A.McE.

Hope thats OK also.

Last year royalDunne players who refused to play for the county were heros according to you! And most were welcomed back with open arms by Andy.
Doubt he'd drop anyone who'd stand up for there clubs or themselves now!!!
