Bobby Sands 39th anniversary was on last Tuesday week 5th of May. Not many people realise that Bobby was an Aston Villa supporter. On Saturday 2nd of May 1981 Aston Villa despite losing 2-0 at away to Arsenal clinched the league title on the last day of the season. It was their first league title in 71 years. Ironically 3 days later Bobby Sands died after being on Hunger Strike for 66 days.

Replying To catch22:  "Wasn't that the year Meath ( beat ) Louth in the Leinster final ? It's almost like that was when everything started to go wrong for Meath. And then there was 4 points over Cluxton a couple of years ago. What a shambles eh."
That's the Paddy Keenan curse. Meath won't win another Leinster till Louth win one. Also on Easter Sunday on April 8th in 2012 on the last round of league games Louth relegated Meath in Navan. Meath were relegated to Division 3 for the first time since 1950's.

Armagh V Meath. Rd 2. - 6 Like(s)
Just a heads up for anyone travelling up to Armagh on Saturday that if you are parking near the ground that the Stewarts are charging you €3 at the school. After the match they are not there and it took me 30 mins to get out of the car park. You are better off parking up in the Armagh City Hotel. Its about 10-15 minute walk to the ground. There is a club house at the ground. You will feel at home. Pearse Og the home club are green and gold.

Sunday 11th of May 2025 is officially the best day of my life. I hope the better half does not read this. This is a day that I thought I would never see. I had tears of joy when the hooter went. Craig Lennon what a player. He is some warrior and he just loves playing against Meath. I thought once Costello had scored for Meath that they would win. But fair play to Louth. They never gave up and dug deep. The Wee County famine is finally over. There are a good few Louth gaels that have passed away and sadly did not get the chance to see this day. Hopefully wee won't have to wait 68 more years for the next one. What's rare is wonderful and by God I'm gonna enjoy this. Thank you to Ger, Sam and the whole Louth team that just proves anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I am a very happy and proud Louth man.

The GAA And "Northern Ireland" - 6 Like(s)

Replying To Onion Breath:  "Why are the GAA seemingly unable to issue a statement that includes the words "Northern Ireland" and thereby reflecting the democratic view of people across the entire island to recognise the existence of the state of Northern Ireland? It was democratically recognised when the Treaty was democratically approved in 1921 and again when the Good Friday Agreement was voted on in 1998. Still the GAA, like the IRA, continue to act as if they refuse to recognise the state of Northern Ireland. They're happy enough to recognise the state when it comes accepting government grants. Their linguistic gymnastics designed to avoid saying Northern Ireland are tiresome and irritating at this stage. Enough of "the North"."
What about the GAA to acknowledge County LondonDerry as well Onion Breath?

No my name is still the same. Did not buy a sports car but I bagged myself a nice little busty blonde that's in her twenties.

Replying To catch22:  "It's gas to think Louth have won an AI more recently than Mayo all the same. Considering all the finals they have been in. Them aul curses are a hoor alright."
Both Louth and Mayo have three All Ireland's each. Louth have a 50% winning rate in All Ireland finals. They played in six finals. They won three and lost three. Compare that to Mayo who played in seventeen finals. They won three and lost fourteen giving them a 18% winning rate.

Congrats to Meath on a great victory against Kerry. Not too many teams beat Kerry and Dublin in the same year.

Sean Boylan Vs Jim Gavin - Who Is The Greatest? - 4 Like(s)

Replying To KingdomBoy1:  "Well Dr Zhivago, il address a couple of the points you made here, Number 1 in nearly every sport in the world you will see the team that's travelling to play another team on their home patch adapt a defensive setup ( to try and quiten the home fans and get in the heads of the opposition) and then they play a counter attacking game, you would know this if ye ever had to go and play a meaningful game outside of Croker (and I don't mean a 1st round leinster or dead rubber super 8 game) how easy was it for Jim gavin knowing this and being able to plan accordingly. Number 2 you say there hasn't been a more creative or attacking team then dublin, well you've shown yourself up there with that comment typical of a fan who only started following the game in 2011, all dublins games look the very same they all melt into 1. You yourself didn't remember jonny Cooper and Kilkenny being on the dublin team in in 2012 you said that yourself only a page back and you had to be correct by a couple of your own posters I was scarlett for you."
KingdomBoy I bet you were not complaining that the Dubs were playing their matches in Croker when they won One All Ireland between 1984 and 2010.

When will Meath next win an All-Ireland SFC? - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Royal.Legend:  "Do I seriously have to explain the numbers game to you, the more kids playing a particular game the greater the chance of finding a few gems, for example when was the last time a county with less then 100 thousand won the football all ireland, and when was the last time a traditional hurling county won the football all ireland."
The answer to your questions: A) Offaly in 1982. B) Cork in 2010.

Hard luck lads. It was a great game of football and Louth came out on the right side this time. I wanna say the Meath supporters around were gracious in defeat and congratled me. I'm really looking forward to the Leinster final. It really is a breath of fresh air with the Dubs not it.

Lads very unlucky. I thought once Costello had scored the goal for Meath the Royals would win but fair play to Louth dug deep. The Meath supporters around me were gracious in defeat. There were two young Meath brothers who were obviously disappointed and down in the dumps. I told that Meath will be back and that today was a day I thought I would never see Louth lifting Delaney. Best of luck for the rest of the campaign.
