Meath V Dublin - 15 Like(s)

Replying To royaldunne:  "Ahh we have a lot of sore other counties that still fixated on Meath. Which is very strange. Shows maybe why Dublin have such a stranglehold on championship, most counties only care about Meath. A team that won't win a all ire in the near future."
The reason is Meath posters tend to whinge a lot about Gaelic football and the Leinster championship. You have a chance next weekend. Let us see what you are made off. Look at Wexford how well they played last Sunday.

The GAA And "Northern Ireland" - 9 Like(s)

Replying To Onion Breath:  "Why are the GAA seemingly unable to issue a statement that includes the words "Northern Ireland" and thereby reflecting the democratic view of people across the entire island to recognise the existence of the state of Northern Ireland? It was democratically recognised when the Treaty was democratically approved in 1921 and again when the Good Friday Agreement was voted on in 1998. Still the GAA, like the IRA, continue to act as if they refuse to recognise the state of Northern Ireland. They're happy enough to recognise the state when it comes accepting government grants. Their linguistic gymnastics designed to avoid saying Northern Ireland are tiresome and irritating at this stage. Enough of "the North"."
The GAA is a 32 county all island organization. They can do what they like. Other sports don't even recognize the Republic, for example they don't use the Irish national anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann.

I hope Kerry don't bring their fouling, cynical, game to the final. And hope Maurice Deegan is not the Ref.

Meath are relegated from Division one of the league already. Says a lot to me about the state of Gaelic football in that county. Yet they have posters on here giving lectures to other counties.

Anti GAA Agenda - 7 Like(s)
RTE Late Late show last night given over almost completely to Six nations rugby. And it is over a week away. If you want to complain to RTE: [email protected] [email protected] I don't mean to be a Rugby basher. It is their peak season now. But RTE are showing two URC rugby matches today with the Late late given over to them last night. Very little positive coverage of GAA though or Irish football.

Anti GAA Agenda - 7 Like(s)

Replying To KillingFields:  "So for people who complain about media coverage what exactly do you want changed or want specifically. What should be reported less on other sports and what more should be reported on the GAA both in papers, online media outlets and on tv/radio"
With respect you are a Limerick Rugby fan. Killing fields is a rugby nickname. So don't expect too much from you. Blame GAA is standard practice in Irish media. But current admins in GAA hq are not really on the ball either.

Loughnane tears into Galway - 6 Like(s)
Galway players and mentors are amateurs, not professional. Galway lost but not hammered by KK. If he wants to look at "losers" let him look at Roy Hodgson of England football. 4 million a year and is beat by part timers.

Replying To bloodyban:  "Youre the revisionist, not me. There is no recorded genocide in Ireland, none. There were lots of mayhem and murder and attrocities. But by you saying it was a genocide lessens actual genocides elsewhere. The 16th and 17th centuries were bloody all over Europe. Again Ireland wasn't a special case as you presuppose. It didn't suffer more than most. The 'attempt to erase us' comment is pure gobbledygook. Its quiet frankly laughable and if you're going around in 2020 believing that then you are deluded. I hope FF and FG do a better job than they have been doing. If they improve then they can keep power out of the hands of Republicans indefinitely."
Ireland used to be over 60% Gaelic speaking. What happened to them all. Most of the West coast from Donegal to Cork was Irish speaking. Yet there is hardly any now. The answer is the the success of the British empire- and the Penal laws. The Penal laws forbade, under pain of brutality, the use of Irish. That is a fact. Check out the "Bata Scóir".

Kerry V Dublin - 6 Like(s)

Replying To plike:  "Make no mistake about, this is a great Dublin team. Probably the best ever. The young Kerry team facing them need to man up. Become the heroes we need you to be. The game itself deserves no less."
No, the game needs a Dublin win. Not a cynical Kerry performance. Kerry lucky against Cork in Munster final, lucky today against Tyrone, ie got the 50/50 calls from the ref, and hope they will run out of luck in the final. Baile Atha Cliatha abú

The GAA And "Northern Ireland" - 6 Like(s)

Replying To AfricanGael:  "[quote=sam1884:  "[quote=Onion Breath:  "[quote=Saynothing:  "[quote=Onion Breath:  "Typical still fighting the wars of yesteryear. The vast majority have successfully moved on and successive generations now accept the constitutional position as agreed by the vast majority including nationalists in Northern Ireland which meant recognition of Northern Ireland. The backwoodsmen can't bring themselves to utter the words Northern Ireland, in spite of its official and democratically mandated status, but they need to left there to die off and the GAA is foolish to be pandering to such idiots."
Are you our Royal correspondent in disguise? Statement right up his street. You talk about ni, that great they don't even have an national anthem. Scotland have 1, Wales have 1, England have 1 and Ireland has 1. Loyalists are a joke and they don't like the fact that Nationalists don't take their crap anymore. GAA is what kept Nationalists going through the years and always will. Great to see Jim Allister, Gregory Campbell and the like raging like a bull at the thought of Nationalists getting a bit of fairness. Love it . Keep taking your mints."]I never said anything about an anthem nor did I ever say Northern Ireland is a nation which it certainly isn't so I know what you're on about here. Maybe you don't know the difference between a nation and a democratic state? Probably not in fact. I too relish the discomfort of those Unionists that you mention. They've had it coming to them for decades."]If you knew your history on the GAA, they were the only sporting organisation who were in favour of a "community multi sports stadium" in NI but the other sports had a meltdown and each had to go their seperate ways. There were some senior GAA people in NI who asked the question about playing the national anthem before every game or flying the flag at every game as this may limit their inclusiveness agenda. The GAA is proud of it's history and will never dilute what it stands for, however if you look closely they're the most inclusive, forward thinking and open organisation in the country despite many of it's members being beaten, killed, intimidated for just being a member. The media, certain political parties north and south try to paint the GAA in a certain light, but GAA have no need to be insecure or question the GAA's values. There is another sporting organisation who play lip service to inclusivness with gestures but at the same time limit their activities to certain classes and private schools, that in my opinion is a bigger issue but one many don't want to acknowledge."]however if you look closely they're the most inclusive, forward thinking and open organisation in the country despite many of it's members being beaten, killed, intimidated for just being a member Is that meant to be a joke ? And killed because they were a member of what, a terrorist organisation? Stop your auld GAA propaganda peddling. Who was killed because they were a member of the GAA ? And please don't trample on the graves of those who were murdered on Bloody Sunday and tell us they were killed "because they were members of the GAA"."]There were scores killed because of being members of GAA. Of the top of my head, Aidan McEnespie, 5 members of the St Endas, club in Glengormley in Belfast. On the way back from an all Ireland semifnal in Croke park August '75, members of the UDR/UDA murdered 2 GAA fans at a bogus check point. Their crime -they had GAA flags on the car. Their names, Farmer and McCartney. I don't condone what the IRA did, they killed and maimed too. Don't say though that GAA members were not targeted.

Replying To galwayford:  "Dublin to win easily. Mayo are a spent force. They will be well beaten in the second half. They need 2 weeks to recover, and only got one. Also Croke park is Dubs home."
Was I right, Anyway hard luck Mayo. Well done Dubs. I think though Dublin have too many advantages. This semi final should have been played in Limerick or even Cork. A neutral ground.

Bloody ban is from Limerick. I recall Limerick being labelled Stab city. It was notorious. Of course this was stereo typing, as not every one there carried a knife. So why is he stereo typing Nationalists now. You cannot make this up. Also how many All Irelands have Limerick won over the years. Just one in the last 40. Galway have a lot more. So do Kerry. Limerick is supposed to be a "sporting city". One hurling in the last 40 years. Some record.

Kerry V Derry - 5 Like(s)
Derry midfield collapsed in the second half. Kerry completely dominate. Kerry keeper and full back had a good game. Possibly Derry should have taken their point instead of drilling shots at goal. Anyway this is a good Kerry team. A physical team. And Dubs will need to be at their best to stop them. Hope Dubs can.

Personally I would prefer to see the Irish language revived in the South, rather than reunification. But that alas is not going to happen. Tá brón orm. So unity is the second option. Ulster unionists could consider resettling in Scotland or England post unification. That is their homeland.

I don't condone the breach of covid 19 guidelines, and a fine should be imposed. But the Indo newspaper is not a fan of the GAA. They are Rugby and football supporters. So please bear that in mind. It is a Rugby newpaper that is following GAA players around looking for dirt to throw. Slán
