GAA Has Never Been Better - Why So Much Complaining - 5 Like(s)
Because Irish people like nothing better than to complain about something. If life was perfect we'd be complaining why there was nothing to complain about.

Cork's Commemorate Jersey - 5 Like(s)
I personally like the Jersey and a nice touch by the CCB. I think other counties should do the same and commemorate there fallen hero's during these centenary years.

Cork's Commemorate Jersey - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Mayfair:  "Ah! Thanks to Mr Trump the convenient world of the "alternative fact" that we all live in. If facts don't agree with my perception just deny them. It doesn't really matter where the name came from originally, but don't deny it! Its a nickname. Stop taking it so personally and worry about actual problems ;-)

Sean Boylan Vs Jim Gavin - Who Is The Greatest? - 3 Like(s)
Billy Morgan ;) But out of those two you'd have to say Jim Gavin. What Boylan did was remarkable with Meath and Cork's expense most of the time. But you can't look past the 5 in a row with a team showing no signs of slowing down. After saying this it will be interesting with new management for Dublin will they continue to dominate as they did or without Jim Gavin's genius mind will it start the downhill of this great Dublin team?

Another handy provincial draw for Kerry - 3 Like(s)
Here we go again with another Munster bashing thread. Remind me what Province had the most teams in q/f in 2016? Unfortunately Cork wasn't one of then :'(

Dual Counties with Dual Supporters - 3 Like(s)

Replying To TheHermit:  "That's true they must be the worst supported team in the GAA. Outside of west Cork if the footballers were playing in the back yard most Corkonians would draw the curtains unless of course there's a trip to Killarney on offer!"
Ya because the Kerry faithful really do follow there team the length and breath of the country. bar an All Ireland final or a fixture against the Dubs the Kerry support are one of the worst in the country.

Spawell site for Dublin Gaa? - 2 Like(s)
Why so many moaners about Dublin building a stadium? If Dublin want to build another stadium then leave them at it. It is no other Counties business. If you ask me they need a higher capacity ground.

Bitter rivalries - 2 Like(s)

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "Hardly a bitter rivalry Hermit when ye hate them but they dont care about you. Corks rivals are Tipp and KK."
ha, i care. Maybe to hurling fans KK and Tipp are our big rivals but i couldn't give a shit about the hurlers. Sure i'll support them when there playing and want them to win but Football is my passion and Kerry is my hatred. Nothing against Kerry people, got a lot of friends from Kerry but Kerry Footballers i can't stand. No feeling comes close when Cork beat them as i'm sure it's the same for Kerry when they beat us(which is quite often :( ) If you don't think Cork and Kerry is a big rivalry then go to Knocknagree or Rathmore after a match where things can sometimes get heated especially if there's a lot of taunting going on.

Can the GAA survive the Rugby onslaught - 2 Like(s)

Replying To ormondbannerman:  "ormondbannerman -typical rant by a guy who is obviously confused, quote: 'The amount of booze on the terraces is ridiculous'. You were obviously at a rugby match and got confused by the shape of the ball! Concussion is a serious problem in rugby and that is the reason that the rules regarding same has been changed twice in the last 9 months. You obviously have not watched your neighbours comment about same. Greenand Red/Galwayford- agree with you and add that the Independent Newspaper would be better off contributing to their staff's pensions fund (past and present). browncows (Meath) - Posts:1289 - 28/12/2016 10:20:18 Drop the name calling... Well considering ive been to plenty of hurling games in CP for tipp and been on buses with mates to those games the amount of booze on terraces is ridiculous with people sneaking it in. Concussion is a major issue in rugby but is at least highlighted and worked on a lot to try improve knowledge. Ive been in seats in Thomond for rugby, Croke Park for Hurling and Gaelic and Aviva for Rugby and been at many other sports and had booze spilled on me at all. ormondbannerman (Clare) - Posts:12465 - 26/12/2016 23:21:46 Nobody believes you mate. Breffni39 (Cavan) - Posts:10749 - 28/12/2016 10:39:28 Drop the condescending "mate" and it is true. So you really saying youve never seen or heard of people having drink spilt on them at hurling or gaa games predominantly in CP? If you say you havent then you are either completely ignorant, blind or oblivious of the very obvious"
Well said. Every sport has a drinking culture no matter it Rugby, soccer or the GAA games. You'd swear where people went on here that Rugby was just one big piss up and GAA is saintly and with little consumption of alcohol at games. I've gone to games with people who have very little interest in football or hurling but like the boozing before and after games and sometimes during it. Drinking culture is in every sport not just the "foreign games" as a lot of you like to call them. Let's except it and move on.

Can the GAA survive the Rugby onslaught - 2 Like(s)

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "Anyone see this article on the independent website (under travel)? "The Irish Bucket List: 30 things to do in Ireland before you die". At number 11 they have " attend a rugby match in Thomond Park" (Croke Park is given a throwaway "while you're at it...." mention! If I was drawing up a bucket list of 3000 things, attending Thomond Park or any other rugby ground for that matter wouldn't make the list !!!"
I'm interested to hear this 3000 list your talking about. This is a typical biggoted GAA fanboy comment. I've been to Croke Park and Thomond Park and I can tell you the atmosphere at Thomond is second to none. It's great to here a full 26000 full stadium cheering on Munster. I love the GAA but in most GAA games all your hear is "A for god sake ref that was no free" or "Ah ref your only a boll*x" Will someone please kill this thread. It's been going on for way too long and really just shows a lot of so called real Gaels fears that the Rugby is taking over

No Tricolour or National Anthem at GAA Matches - 1 Like(s)

Replying To ormondbannerman:  "I think the National Anthem should only be played for provisional and AI Finals. When you here the anthem it should be a since of achievement. Playing it at every game only waters it down. Flags should always be flown. No need to change that pkboher (Cork) - Posts:11 - 30/11/2016 18:35:38What are provisional finals?"
Haha only spotted my mistake there. My bad

Well excuse the Gaa for trying to make PuC a comfortable and safe stadium to watch a game. If it was up to people like you Jimbo you'd wait til someone gets seriously injured or worse to do anything about the stadium. It's unsafe and needs revamp. FACT

I don't get this attitude that every stadium needs to be full "all the time". With the exception of Premier League stadiums most grounds around the world are mostly only half full. Just watch the Rugby Championship. It has the best teams in world there and grounds are mostly only half full. Watch the Spanish league and grounds rarely ever sell out. What's wrong with having a capacity to support a big game which Cork will get so this white elephant crap is just stupid

Replying To jimbodub:  "Look at Limericks situation with the Gaelic Grounds, I've posted a link from their own board Look at McHale Park and the GAA having to step in This is what happens when the cost of development far outweighs the commercial revenue it can generate I'm sure Linericks situation will get even worse now with Corks 70 million development soon available in Munster now too €40 million of tax payer/GAA funds should be spent far more productively at present"
So what's your solution! Leave it as a health and safety hazard. You're very quick to shoot it down but giving no solution to the current problem.

RTE V SKY - 1 Like(s)
What I like about sky's coverage over rte's is the fact sky sports actually analyse the game. Spillane and Co only complain and talk about how great the game was "back in the day". Rte are lazy and it's about time competition emerged. Maybe over time rte will actuallyb ut some effort into there coverage.

Replying To bigfrankt:  "Round 4 - Neutral Venues Cork v (Tyr/Mon/Arm/Kil) Laois v (Tyr/Mon/Arm/Kil) One double header - Semple? Fermanagh v (Tyrone/Kildare) Roscommon v (Tyr/Mon/Arm/Kil) One double header - Clones (if no Monaghan?) Cant believe Michael Buble is booked in for Croker week before the Super 8s - premier competition of the GAA - pitch destroyed as usual from a concert because the GAA HQ are literally THAT greedy"
Pitch was in perfect condition after the Taylor Swift concert. Doesn't seem to be a big ofan issue as it used to be. Must have found a way to keep it preserved

Does Anyone Actually Want A 4X8 Regional Structure To Replace Counties Only Playing In Their Home Province? - 1 Like(s)
Yes. I think it's worth ago. Too many people want this 'Champions League' style format but that would take a players chance to win a medal away. Only the best teams win the All Ireland but the Provincial championship is where a shock could be produced every so often like Tipp in Munster and Cavan in Ulster and those players I'm sure will cherish thier medals. So I do think a geography based provincial championship is definitely worth trialling out before any 32 team champions league style All Ireland series.

Question For Cork Supporters - 1 Like(s)

Replying To DUALSUPPORT:  "I'm disappointed as Munster rugby fan to see Darren Sweetnam leave Munster, I remember him playing for the Cork hurlers a few years back. He was a fine player and when he left I felt he was a loss to ye. I can only imagine how good a midfielder partnership of Darren Sweetnam and Darragh Fitzgibbon would be now. So anyway my question for the Cork supporters is do ye think the loss of Darren Sweetnam had any impact on Cork hurling. Could he have made a difference against Clare in both all irelands final in 2013 or against us in the semi-final in 2018."
Sweetnam was definitely a huge loss but wouldn't use it as an excuse for our drought. Cork in the last 20 years have just been way off the pace and I don't think even with Sweetnam wouldn't have made difference and that's due to miss management of our development squads for years and years. The Cork County Board had/have an attitude that we are cork we will always be the top dogs. That sort of arrogance is why we are where we are. The likes of Limerick, Tipp and Galway have nurtured the talent in county better than Cork. No Cork person can blame Sweetnam for leaving. I think any athlete that has a chance to go professional they should take it even if that means losing our best players to Rugby or AFL.
