Only one man to blame and thats the manager. Get 4 points ahead from playing attacking football, then pull the troops back and play defensive stuff. There is definatly a nucleus of a good team there if a good manager can get it out of them.

I'm afraid that will not happen under the current management structure.

another thing. Drew Wylie was FAR from fit yesterday, yet we kept a big man on him that didn't really make him run around too much or test him with quick bursts of speed. This should have been noted on the line. I know Martin Dunne got nothing out of the monAGHAN BACKS 2 YEARS AGO . but if ever there was a time to put martin on dreww wylie it was yesterday.

Why were the management shouting to be defensive when 4 ahead? as if. Cavan didn't have the cuteness on the field to finish Monaghan off.

Killian Clarke was a big loss.

Mc Enroe being taken off was a disaster . Damien Reilly was on a yellow too, he could have gone instead.
Argue on square needs a speedy corner forward feeding off him ( not a back as the case yesterday) . Mc Vitty had a poor game, why wasn't he taken off?
Anyway, we can look forward to one more game at least. And yes, Mr Forde needs to give respect to the officials.

clueless along the line ........
why not put gearoid inside beside argue for the last 10 mins and launch a few high ones in , midfield was being bypassed, take the chance throw him in there, what was martin dunne doing popping that ball over the bar , he should of lobbed it on the square, hayes was the perfect man to bring on then , speedy , ball winner.
id rather see us lose in the quailfer than see this management team get another year, 2 wins in 5 years is comical.
no harm to ray galligan it was a huge ask of him to come into the game and i felt sorry for him missing the 2 chances
not the biggest fan of r.flangan but i thought he was execptional yesterday

Agree with paulie about R Flanagan, he's been very lucky to hold his place with that irritating passing to a player a metre away from him, did well yesterday.
Mc Dermott tried but disappointed me yesterday, must have been going well in training to get the nod.
Hayes a bit inexperienced, didn't show anything yet. If Jack Brady is let play in the corner might be an option, given his recent return to good form, a good link man too. Should have been brought on.
It's a good panel and if management don't lose any of them we can be cautiously optimistic.

I am sorry lads but as a neutral looking at the game I cant see either side going very far in the competition. I thought Cavan were the better side but did either goalkeeper have to make a save? Hitting a high ball in to Argue was a welcome change from the usual slow moving forward play but you need someone like Tom Hayes rooting about in the square to pick up the pieces and go for goal. Neither side looked like scoring a goal and goals wins games! Good luck in the next game. One of the better performances in recent years.

Mcloughlain pulled out of a 50/50 ball unforgivable.
Mackey let his man go up the field from both throw ins and two scores given away.
Simple things that would have won this game.
Don't understand why McKeever didn't come on for some experience and settle things down when Monaghan got on top.

Thought the boys did well yesterday. Ref, while having a good game, gave some very soft frees to Monaghan in both halves. McManus and both Hughes have a habit of jumping into the tackle and going down on any impact - ref was conned several times.

Martin Reilly's card was never black - could have had a yellow but nothing cynical about it. Ref evening things up.

Thought O'Connell was Monaghan's best player despite the talk of the experienced players saving them.

It has to be noted that Monaghan support comfortably outnumbered us yesterday. They were far more vociferous that we were. I was shocked at this, on our home ground. Outnumbered by the nearest and dearest? It's unprecedented and it wasn't a nice experience. There was barely a whimper when Cavan took to the field, yet a huge roar went up for Monaghan. Anyone would think it was Clones we were in. I don't ever want to witness that again.

The plan with Argue on the square isn't a bad one, but how could nobody on the line see that we needed Jack or Hayes playing off him, he gave Wylie all sorts of hassle, in fact Wylie should have been yellow carded in the 2nd minute, ref bottled it. But when he was breaking it down there was nobody there to slam the damned thing home.

I hope this doesn't mess with the players confidence. We will never get an easier draw to an Ulster final, and an appearance there would have been a huge catalyst to move us forward. As it stands, we're in very familiar territory.

Rugby tackle right in front of the referee and you say it was not a card off course it was there was no question about it.

A figure head is all hyland is for the shots were being called by people up in the press box and the individual on the side line who needs to be seen and heard every time remonstrating with officials. Time to move on get rid of all these individuals and lets see a proper management set up. 3 instead of 15 shouting instructions with all these walkie talkies just crazy.

I thought Cavan had good support yesterday and they got a rousing reception at half time. Thereafter the Cavan supporters were basically afraid to dream that we could win it.
I thought the ref wasn't good and blew for very soft frees . I don't think an Armagh man should be reffing a Monaghan match. Too close. I thought he could have played a bit longer at the end and Cavan may have got a draw. I'm sure Ulster Council would not have minded another bumper fixture.

It didn't look like that to me. What I saw was a man running across Martin and Martin's momentum took him into the Monaghan player, He had to put his hands out to keep his balance. Don't think he was trying to foul him at all.

When we are outnumbered in our own back yard in a championship game it tells it all where people see this Cavan team going..Put with our paltery home gates in the league shows fans are fed up with this rubbish that Hyland is serving up... They should be run with haste

Just an observation not a criticism, but I couldn't have imagined us out numbering Cavan fans, especially away in Breffni. Cavan were bring 15,000 - 20,000 to Clones in 1995, 1997 and 2001. I'd say there were only about 7,000 Cavan fans there on Sunday.

Drumlinbelt, you are dead right. I was stunned at the paltry reception we gave our team, Monaghan outnumbered us comfortably. In fact in Clones in 2013 the fans were much more bouyant and expectations were sky high. I can only conclude that this is a reaction against the "black death" style of football, for Cavan have always played attacking football and it is alien to our nature.

Let's give credit where it's due.
The management and team have worked very hard and we were up against a strong div 1 team.
A victory against a strong team in the qualifiers and we'll be back on track.
Hopefully the team can come to terms with the defeat and gear themselves up for the next game.
Nobody will want to face us including Tyrone.

Desagov....the season is over for us.. What use is a run in the back door going to do...? All it will do is waste money and hold up our club games.. We got to an All-Ireland QF a couple of years ago and learned nothing.. Getting to an Ulster final would be far more benificial than winning a few meaninless back door games before been thumped by one of the big boys... Monaghan were there for the takeing and as per usual we fluffed our lines...!!!
