All Ireland junior championship

I told you cavan at 10/3 was a good bet and my post was laughed at. Well done to the juniors for I hear this was their last chance from what I hear Cavan will not be allowed to play in Leinster next year.

How is it negative to request that this group of players be deployed positively? If your point is, don't be raining on todays parade by looking too far into the future, then fair point.

A brilliant win and congrats to all...any day you beat Kerry in a final is a great achievement... It would be a pity if we were not allowed play in Leinster again as it has brought on a lot of our fringe or younger players... Does anyone no the reason we cant play in Leinster or is the Ulster Junior been revived...?

Congrats and well done to Terry and all the lads. A wonderful display and this restored my faith in Cavan football.
It was great to see a Cavan team go out and not to show any fear of our opponents. Just brilliant!!
It really was a team performance and showed the benefits of hitting our forwards early. There was lots of quick foot passing and yet we could defend when we had to.
Thought our full-forward line were excellent with young Tom Hayes class and Paul O'Connor and Enda Hessin doing a massive amount of running and scoring.
Chris Conroy worked his socks off as well and scored some lovely points as did Enda Reilly.
At midfield Packy Leddy and Liam Buchanan held sway and again did a ferocious amount of work.
Our defence was brilliant all through even though in the 1st half Kerry ran at us very menacingly but this was supposed to be a top class Kerry attack.
Thought Ciaran Brady was fantastic and I would probably give him man-of-the match. He covered every blade of grass out there.
But Conor Moynagh and the rest of the backs were not far behind. Well done lads.
So Terry will have loads of lads knocking on his door for the Senior football team next year. Not a bad complaint to have and hopefully our Senior team can play as positively as these lads.
I'm going off now to have a pint to celebrate as it is not every day we win an All Ireland.

Folks

Yesterday's result was a shot in the arm after the events of the summer. Any year when the county can:

1. Win under 21 Ulster Championship
2. Gain promotion in the League, winning 7 out 7 and
3. Win a Junior All Ireland, playing every game away from home

cannot be written off as a bad year.

Playing without fear we brought the Cup home!

Ondforty - That is partially my point. The players on that team have been developed almost entirely under Terry Hyland. When you say in your post "Someone please take the responsibility of deploying this emerging talent positively" it implies that a) Emerging talent is not being deployed properly and b) That no one is currently taking it on. Both claims of course are garbage. Terry Hyland & Peter Reilly are producing this talent and have deployed it by winning four Ulster U21s in a row and now a junior all ireland title. Why you would decide to make such a claim on the eve of the county winning a junior All Ireland is something only you can answer. Some on this forum have completely lost the plot of late and think that we should be winning every game playing a Dublin style of football just becuase we have done well at U21. Name a team, any team, that came from nowhere with no quality senior players in place and suddenly translated underage success immediately into senior success? Not only had we no older players, we had a bunch of them that had rotten attitudes that had to be cleansed. Finally, have a look at Cavans record before Hyland arrived on the U21 team and the record after. When your done why dont you post it up here. I think you will find we are doing well and while no one was happy with this years championship maybe we should have a bit of faith and let the players and management tweak it for next season.

Have to agree with Kildareblue. If this was supposedly a bad year hopefully we have one every year.

Fredflint, the only garbage here is coming from you. You must have overdone the celebrations last night.

Firstly, our emerging talent is not being deployed properly by this mgnt team. When we won the Leinster Junior title in 2012, Martin Dunne, Joshua Hayes, Martin Reilly, Chris Conroy, etc played positive attacking football, beating their men moving forward at pace and looking to creat goal chances. In this years championship, they were negative, insecure and unproductive. Chris Conroy didn't even get a game. How did that happen, by accident or by poor strategy? I appreciate that we needed an effective defensive system, and we have it now, but that's all we have. 15 defenders. When Tom Hayes breaks on to the seniors, will he be encouraged to take on his man and beat him and score goals like he did yesterday, or will he have to recycle the ball back to the designated shooter, or go looking for a free? When Ciaran Brady makes the seniors, will he be allowed to make terrific runs like yesterday that opened up Kerry so clinically and set up scores, or will he be forced to recycle the ball at the first sign of contact like the seniors this summer?

Secondly, neither Terry nor Peter produced these players. The clubs in the county did and the under age structure developed and nurtured them. And they are still doing it. Our current U16's are our best for a while, beating the finest Dublin had at their disposal in the GR final. Will they be allowed to express themselves as creative footballers when they get to senior level? Not unless this mgnt team change their tactical approach or are replaced by a mgnt team that will.

Finally, to answer your quiz question, Galway came from nowhere to win senior All Irelands without any minor or U21 success in 1998 and 2001. Underage success alone does not guarantee senior success as Laois found out from their three in a row minor team. We're in danger of doing a Laois if we don't allow our players to play.

Maybe he wasn't performing in training. This year's championponship team was a very different team from last year due to the amount of injuries to key players and players in America.

You don't sound like you have much patience - maybe do a SJ and switch allegiance to Kildare.

Just a few thoughts on yesterday.

The size of the Kerry support was a big surprise to Cavan people but the fact is that they take the Junior Championship quite seriously and always have.Their manager made that point this week as the best way to bring young players up to senior intensity. Beating Kerry in the final is a huge achievement compared to beating other counties.

Yesterday we used better foot passing and quicker breaking from defence and that stretched Kerry because they were probably expecting the usual slow motion passing game. Does that mean that Terry & Co are taking the criticism on board and moving on their tactics to something more realistic and effective? I hope so. Certainly Kerry people were surprised at how "slick" Cavan were yesterday and those people know a thing or two about football.

We were always worried that Cavan couldn't sustain the momentum in the second half but if anything they upped it and were comfortable well before the finish. The fact that a lot of those lads have grown up winning provincial titles stood to them when they needed to close out the game. I thought at least 6 players yesterday will be worth introducing to the Senior panel for the league. For that alone the whole exercise was worthwhile. The lads deserve huge credit for their dedication, especially Conor Moynagh coming home from America a few days before the match. Well done lads!

Is it true that Kerry and cork only play footballers from junior and intermediate clubs on their junior county teams and players that have not represented the county.?

Then we should not get too carried away. Does not make everything right this year by winning this.
