Division 3 League Final

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Givney not playing well enough at the minuite. Also you have keating.Hes a far better target man .I think the team wont be changed that much . We need another natural forward. Tierney may start but I dont think he will either. Itll be one of tierney, turlock, murray or j brady in my opinion

Goldrick is right lads.
The fact that there is now a final demeans the actual league game with Roscommon.
You could have a case where a team who are 2 points in front might play a second string in a game because they know that the 2 teams behind them in the league have to play each other and therefore allowing only one of them to be level on points with them on the last day. Knowing that the 2 top teams play in a final afterwards allows them to make decisions around selection.
If it was just a race for top spot then all games would be treated with respect.

S goldrick how do you feel about div 1 a group of 8 decided on semi finals? Tbh you sound concerned that Cavan will come up short in the div 3 decider in 2 weeks and and result it will affect Cavan's championship mindset?

yes more nonsense. shouldnt be any smi finals of final. not concerned at all about cavan "coming up short". but just imagine the scenario where the 4th placed team in div 1 were 4 points behind the top team in div 1 and then went on to beat them in the final.. the record books would show. that 4th place team as the LEAGUE winners even though they finished 4th. the winner of a proper league should not be determined by a one-off game it should be the team who has proved themselves the best over the course of the "league".

As both Limerick and Roscommon were both dead rubber games neither team played their starting 15, had it been winner takes all I expect the situation between Cavan and Roscommon would have been a total different ball game, Both teams used it to play fringe players and to give those that were injured a bit of game time. Complete different players come the final

Lads, does anyone know if you can buy premium level tickets or do you have to get them through your club?

I agree with you sean these league finals and semi finals are just a money making exercise. The top team wins league end off !

Congrats on winning the league. This final is nonsense altogether dragging lads up to Croke Park when they could be playing a challenge match in Kingscourt or Strokestown instead.

Thanks Salvador, at last a man with some sense. Well done on your great victory yesterday.
I think you'll agree you guys have more important things to think of now than a glorified friendly of a so-called "league" final.

I think the Div 3 final on Saturday is very important for us to win,, i know people says its just a Div 3 final , but its time this team puts its mark down and wins when it matters, it will be a great launch pad for the championship, the team is well capable of going out and beating Roscommon by 7 or 8 points, its time they stop protecting a lead of 3 or 4 points and push on to put teams out of site.

Its important to win especially since we have won nothing of note at Senior level since 97.so lets not demean it. grab it with both hands

Who is the top cavan player who got badly injured the weekend and is out for championship ?

dont agree that this match is off no use, the experience of winning a trophy in croke park would bring this young team on an awful lot. none of these players have won anything at senior level so its important to tick that box and then move on to the championship

It's not every day that Cavan and Roscommon senior footballers get the chance to run out in Croke park so we shouldn't complain regardless of the importance of this game. Both of us reached our priority of promotion if winning the league meant you have to finish 1st then we would have fielded our strongest side against Cavan a few weeks ago.

A div 3 trophy will be sitting in the hogan stand on Saturday night the best side will win it however the loser will hardly be setting off any panic buttons.
