Michael Bardon, The Downs, Mullingar passed away on October 1st, 2016. Michael was a very talented footballer with the local club in his younger years, before emigrating to England in search of work. He secured employment with British Gas Works and joined the local GAA club cross channel, winning numerous honours in football, hurling and handball. Indeed, the cabinet in Michael's living room is weighed down with all the trophies and medals he accumulated in many sports, including boxing, soccer, rugby and cricket. Even though he lived abroad, he continued to follow The Downs and delighted in all their successes over the years as well as taking in as many games as he could during trips home.
