Good win and could have had another goal or two. Stephan Bennett is a sniper, always thinking about goals. Took up the baton that Gleeson dropped. Montgomery too is putting his hand up for a starting spot in 2 weeks time. I thought Carthach Daly had a fine game on Fitzgibbon, both Daly's came ready made for senior intercounty physically, skill wise and mentally. Patrick Curran with 1.03 is becoming more and more influential. The big test will be Limerick though, Limericks backline won't cough up that many goal chances. Hopefully Barron, Kenny, Hogan and I. Daly will be back as options for championship and Gleeson primed for Tipp. Congrats to the team and management, who are doing a fantastic job.

Galway v Waterford Final - 1 Like(s)

Replying To moc.dna:  "The Gaa's failure to apply rules & discipline is always coming back to haunt them & so it is again, the lead up to this final will be dominated by talk of suspensions. If rules are applied neither of the Gleesons should play, obviously Austin is a very talented hurler but has a short fuse. The video on YouTube of a pull in a club game leaves little to the imagination. The Gaa will bottle this in some shape or form allowing one or both of them to play. If both are banned it will make it easier for Galway & if Galway won it would be always thrown at them that they did so due to the suspensions. Another typical mess by the Association, just like the black card farce. The governance at the top at present is slow, laboured & too slow to implement change."
Austin Gleeson was not the player that pulled high across another player on that youtube video. You have to be sure before making an accusation like that.

Replying To Canuck:  "The substitutions were the difference today. Will have to play a lot better than that to have any chance against Limerick who look colossal physically compared to anyone else. Prunty not looking as good as last year so far. It would make you wonder is Iarliath Daly safer at full back. Though Conor on a big man probably needed. Again we here these commentators about Hutchison not doing much but he ends up with 1-3. They obviously can't read the game. He is constantly pulling two defenders away from in front of the goal opening space. His sense of position is very good. I think the size of Walsh Park playing surface does not suit our game despite home advantage. One thing for sure Limerick are firm favourites with that team."
Both results in Munster and the manner of them were not a surprise today. Tipp and Clare will fancy their chances of coming out of Munster. Both goals Waterford coughed up today were from mistakes. We looked a bit jittery in the backline and made a few too many handling errors. Something that will hopefully be rectified by next week. I agree about Hutchinson, similar to the league final, his runs are opening up the oppositions defence. One of the biggest difference between Limerick and Waterford is high fielding. Waterford are going to struggle in the air against Limerick especially from our own long puckouts. Waterford won't win too many in the air against their halfback line but i don't think we necessarily need to. We just need to stop them from winning clean ball, break the ball and then try and win 50 percent of those on the ground, not an easy task either. If Limerick avoid any big injuries its difficult to see them not winning it out but i still believe Waterford will be the closest to them this year. Our puckout strategy will be key to making it a closer game than previous outings. Our subs bench was stacked today, good to see Barron and Hogan finally back and Gleeson making a big impact as did Iarliath Daly. As you said Walsh Park pitch size is not ideal, hopefully it will be extended during the renovations.
