Agree with the above post, does anybody know if Casements have been asked to move the fixture?

Great post Moonshine, albeit in tragic circumstances. I'm not involved in the Birmingham GAA scene, but had the pleasure of meeting him on a few occasions. RIP, a chara...

Well to answer your question i have been informed that casements were not asked to move the game to next week as macs wanted to play this week. Macs did ask for the game to be moved to pnh for some reason but this was turned down. Casements lads said they were happy to move the game to next week so its strange that macs want to play it. Must be a reason they want to play this week as i think everyone expected it to be called off as a mark of respect. Don't know the reason though. So game is confirmed for half 1 at sphinx.

tommyg, in reply to your post, the reason this game is going ahead is because it is what coley would have wanted. This decision was not taken lightly. It was discussed with family, players & club officials, and it was agreed that this was what Coley would have wanted.

Barnabas made light work of a limited EGB side. Heard that McDermotts beat Casements and Mitchels got a walkover

Disgrace, clubs getting walkovers during the championship. Surley, those teams should be relegated from all competitions for the following year. Makes a joke of the whole setup.

I know people will jump on me here as I am supposed to be a 'Mitchells Man' but, they obviously made a genuine mistake in the league. The point to make is that the league is a farce anyways. Championship is different. I would heavily propose that the offenders are dropped from the championship and that each team in the group get the walkover.

Joke!

Leicester may as well be a walkover whether they field or not. Bring back Four Masters!

Moonshine - thanks for the status - as i said i didnt know the reason the game was on but as you say it is the club and the families decision. Also well played on the day deserving winners of the game.

As for Leicester's walkover i agree. You cant pick and choose your games if you want to be in the senior grade. Go out and take your beating. Not fair to field against a team who could be forced to use reserve players or pick up injuries and suspensions and then not field for the remaining two games. I agree that any club not fielding in the championship should be kicked out of this years but also next years championship.

As for bring back four masters sure didnt they not field in two championship matches last year cos they thought they would get heavily beaten!!

Well interesting results the weekend, fair play to Macs for playing the game which cant have been an easy decision but they showed their worth by winning a diffucult game in Coventry. Means Casements have to beat Mitchells which would be a suprise after their form recently in beating Macs first up.

Other group has become interesting with EGB getting beat so easily, Barnabus are through now and will beat Marys last game comfortably who find themselves out after losing to Sons which no doubt they will be dissapointed with. So the EGB v Sons game will be a shootout to go through with Barnabus, can see Sons causing an upset as EGB seem to have gone off the boil last 2 weeks although maybe due to time of year.

As for Leicester not fielding it is bad form but should they not be given reason to explain before people on here throw them out from ever setting foot on a pitch again?? When did they let Mitchells now they could not field? hopefully before the day of the game as that would be bad. Leicester have held their own in recent years and are a good club so lets not all que up to kick them when they are at a low point!

Looks as though it will be Barnabas v McDermotts and Mitchels v Sons/EGB in the semi's so. Can't see Mitchels being beaten but given the sad passing of their manager this week McDermotts will no doubt be wanting to retain their title in his memory.

I cannot beleive that Leicester did not field against mitchels , what are they playing at , do they not have both a senior & reserve team ? surley they could have fielded even if they got a beating its better than giving a walkover , a bit of respect gone now for naomh padraig , i thought more of the club than this .

Heard that SOE beat EGB yesterday evening. Should make their Championship game an interesting encounter.

Its irreverent who wins. In fact the team who loses is the real winner because they are saved from the embarrassment of Mitchel's in the Semi.

Fair play to Sons of Erin though, as far as I am aware they have fulfilled all fixtures, taken a few beating from the big names and moved on. Whilst i can not imagine there being as many Irish in the town of Northampton as cities like Coventry Nottingham and Birmingham, they seem to be going about things in the right way.

Battles why are you referring to Northampton as "they".

It is patently obvious from your previous posts that you are involved with them

Just because i have praised Northampton does not mean i am associated with them.

Unfortunately my club is in intermediate and struggling

I would safely say that Northampton have more Irish boys than the 3 Coventry clubs put together.

Warks website down what was the northampton go brath score? Did they have a weak team to lose? Or are northampton slowly adapting. Fair play as previous post said they have taken beatings dusted themselves down and continued on. Tbh id say they would have taken their position in the league (assuming marys are bottom?) Plus shot at semis at start of the season. Puts previous post of kicking them back to inter where they belong post into perspective. Mind a weak team may have been fielded in erdington ahead of shoot out for semis.
