Tyrone's tackling-is it legal? - 5 Like(s)
It's legal until such times as Tyrone win. Then there will be a CCwotRTECC meeting announcing that there has be a stop to this sort of thing, ie Tyrone winning.

I would add there should be a very serious investigation into that refereeing performance.

Leinster Football The Reality - 3 Like(s)
Population of Dublin 1.35 million people. Number of football teams 1. Population of rest of Leinster 1.15 million people. Number of football teams 11. That might give a clue as to why each of the 11 teams are having difficulty keeping up with the other 1. Or we can ignore the elephant in the room and say that Wicklow just need to train harder.

We are talking about an invisible virus that eventually everyone will catch. To try to blame anyone for catching it is daft.

About the Melee, the GAA has to put at end to that now. The 2 teams can leave the field with a half a minute gap. Simple. Whoever instigates violent conduct needs a red card and match bans immediately. No excuses. And none of the nonsense of giving a yellow each or even a red each which doesn't punish the actual offender. The referee on the day did well but it's impossible to referee if those things aren't dealt with by the GAA from the top down.

GAA Strategic Plan - 3 Like(s)
Will the GAA's new strategic plan seize the opportunity to move the organisation forward? A few things I would suggest it should deal with - A proper Calendar for the year with guaranteed time for clubs, counties and off season known in advance - Dublin to be divided in 2 - New clubs set up in major towns and cities where population has grown but clubs haven't - Football All Ireland to be All Ireland League. Provincials retained as stand alone competitions. - Attempt to broaden appeal to Unionist Community

Well done Dublin. Kilkenny, O'Callaghan, Fenton, Rock and Mannion when he came on were all excellent.

Replying To Wally:  "I just wish our lads would keep this stuff to themselves. Like why even bring something like this up? Personally I don't think it is right. Lads could have various beliefs or none and they may feel pressured to partake in these rituals. It has no place within a sporting organisation."
I'd agree. Religion should be a personal affair and not part of GAA preparations. Hardly helps attracts Protestants or even lapsed Catholics if the Rosary is involved.

No League Finals - A Joke - 3 Like(s)
The GAA has amateur players performing at a professional level. It has also truly amateur administration at the highest levels. Arranging a competition with a 1 week gap to the semi finals, then saying there isn't enough time to play the final. Rules on venues that become known to most after the venue is decided. If an extra week rest is now deemed critical before a major knock out game, why does the GAA calendar pencil in the Ulster Final 1 week after the Munster Final knowing they will play each other?

Qualifiers Round 3 - 2 Like(s)
Not sure why anyone's upset. The rules were clear enough. First team out has home advantage except if it's Cavan and they have no pitch or except if it's Clare and they're too strong for Armagh or except if it's Kildare and Mayo have a lot of supporters.

Should There Be A Back Door For Football? - 2 Like(s)
Should there be a back door for football? Yes Should there be more than 1 game in the supposed primary competition for each team? Yes Is it nonsensical to talk of hiking ticket prices to get more money from games whilst at the same time minimising the number of genuinely competitive matches? Yes Is the GAA run badly? Yes Yes and heck Yes Will someone justify this as all being due to Covid? Yes Did the WHO decree that Football must be restricted to provincial competitions, and that Hurling could have a backdoor but not Football? No

If you try to get a ticket for this match you'll be told you have to be in a separated pod, you have to wear a mask, wash your hands repeatedly, follow all other regulations to avoid Covid. Then half the Tyrone team are actually in quarantine because of Covid and they say they can play just 6 days later. It's hard to see how those 2 things can both be correct. I'd say the match should be put back 2 weeks.

GAA on TV - 2 Like(s)
The "analysis" on RTE isn't bad. It's non-existent, with the same auld fellas saying the match was rubbish, the sport is rubbish and back in my day I was manly. The comments could be scripted without watching the match. I am not aware of any other sporting organisation in the world that would allow their sport to be downgraded in that way. The question is why the GAA goes along with it.

The reason Peter Harte was quiet is that he was being constantly fouled off the ball, not once or twice but constantly and quite a few times in front of the referee.

GAA Strategic Plan - 2 Like(s)

Replying To KillingFields:  "Except Dublin being split in 2 wont really move the whole organisation forward. disenfranchises/annoys dubs. and wont make most counties any bit more competitive what towns/cities would you suggest new clubs to be created how would you attempt to broaden appeal to unionists?"
Not splitting Dublin in 2 either disenfranchises the rest of Leinster who have no chance, or gives the others a chance only by deliberately under investing in the huge population that lives in Dublin. Either way the GAA is turning it's back on a large number of people which is not a good strategic decision. In terms of new clubs in towns and cities, for example in Dublin. Also for example in Derry City which has only 4 clubs. It's got a population larger than county Cavan but one tenth of the number of clubs. How would you attempt to broaden appeal to unionists? Start by asking them as part of this strategic plan.

To be clear, the majority of Tyrone's second black card time was eaten up with David Clifford's cramp. Unless we are suggesting he is a deep Tyrone double agent, we can get back to thinking Tyrone won the semi final despite repeated black cards and not because of them.

The refereeing in this second half has been an utter disgrace. It has decided the result.
