Replying To Sligonian:  "So judging by all the posts everyone is in agreement that mistakes were made on the starting 15 and 26 but some seem to think that's not a criticism of management even though they pick the team. Muscle's - I'd imagine plenty of people outside of Molaise would start Alan McLoughlin. I know the narrative around Joe and the challenge games, I watched the Roscommon FBD game too. There were far worse performers than him in that game. For me Joe is a big game player. Not every player trains well, and plays well in challenge games in January and to get written off for the year based on that criteria is nonsense. Did you see his county final performance? The issue I have is some players who might train well but are consistently atrocious on gameday when it matters. Management don't seem to understand this concept. You are very quick to write him off for the year. Is that fair?"
I'd agree Keeney is a big game player. Also some who were absent in this years club championship again and also poor in FBD, started last weekend. Current management too loyal to past players and too slow to bring in new talent. What's the story with C Marren, thought he was good in FBD and also not named last week.

Replying To eoinog:  "Eamonn O Hara saying that the Tourlestrane team didn't get enough recognition for their feat is getting embarassing now, and I'm sure Anto will agree. Sligo Co Council came out last week and said they were invited to the chamber and as of yet they didn't take up the offer. This was continued this morning on Ocean FM when Cllr 7 in a row they achieved. Martin Connolly said they got an invite after the 5 in a row and again last year when they got the 7. Very strange how the club itself hasn't made any comment on their social media sites about the great achievement. The club are always posting stuff on their Facebook page but nothing about the super 7."
Eoin you need to get over you fixation with Tour, EOH is not the club spokesman, I dont think any one really cares, winning 7 is recognition enough. Really looking forward to the semi finals, DRP coming out of a tough group but was their last game their county final, they are in great shape but lack a bit in fire power. Molaises would seem to be the team to beat but have not really beaten a top team in a game that mattered. I'd like to see them win it out because of their efforts at underage and contribution to Sligo minor and U20 teams, a good example to other clubs. Coolera were out of the championship in injury time against DRP and the boost they must have got from pulling out of the fire will stand to them. They have plenty of experience but will need more than Murphy to deliver scores if they are to go all the way. While Mary's last game was not a knock out their performance was either part of a management masterplan or a sign that things are not going well for them....we will see Sunday, they have players who can deliver on the big day.

After been in Tuam U20 and M Park Seniors its clear to see the quality the U20s have compared to some of their senior counterparts, Skills, team work and courage, really hope we can bring most of these lads on, we need them if we want to get out of D3 and compete in D2 in the longterm.

Ocean joined second half with 10 minutes left tells the story of the 1st half. Think it was 0-0 to 0-10 before CSH got off the mark. Obviously they had no interest after county final.

Replying To leitrimforsam:  "Hands up and sadly I confirm that you are factually correct that Leitrim haven't beaten Sligo since 2011 in the Championship. Remarkable that Leitrim haven't beaten Sligo since in the championship. The only two reasons I can think of are 1. Maybe it was of injuries Leitrim had. 2. Maybe it's because Leitrim haven't played Sligo in the championship since. 3 I'm wondering if there was another reason If you can remember another reason please enlighten me. Thanks in advance We have defeated Sligo in the league since 2011 . Leitrim have won TWO fbd leagues since it started. Not sure how many times Sligo won the Fbd league. The only thing I know it of all the five counties in the province Sligo are a commendable fifth best as the most successful county. 2."
Maybe it's something to do with your ability to count 1-3 or general grasp of the English language?

Finally this forum moving away from blaming county board for all our woes. Was at both home games this year and not only was the crowd small, there were only a hand full of kids there. I can't understand this, why are clubs and coaches and patents not bringing kids to these games, it's free for kids. At D4 level the games will be close and still good entertainment for all U12. There will be more Sligo kids of Mayo parents in McHale park this weekend than there were Sligo kids in Markievicz last week. Very few clubs and individuals doing the grassroots work required to bring the standards up. As a kids coach I'm inundated with offers for courses from CB but the uptake from individuals is small.

Replying To jonno:  "I rewatched this and you're obviously taking Sean Cavanaghs stupid analysis as a given. When they paused the ball in mid air it was probably 20yards behind the goal. The umpire looks up at when the ball crosses the line that is the moment it is wide or between the posts. I've seen this on the Sunday game before and it's like they just want to create a scene. The ball was wide, well done umpire. Not so well done Sean!"
Correct

It kinda shows how low our expectations are when we applaud a manager who as got us to div 3 beating teams so far not much above div 4 standard. Anyone higher like Down or our neighbours we are miles behind. We have young players who know how to deliver against the usual contenders, give them a chance. I don't accept this thing that it takes years to reach the levels required, if this is the case why are so many of the current team not dominating the club scene, Kearney was MOTM in last years final, Doherty probably made the difference for coolera, Donlan stand out for DRP, thats without talking about what Tourlestrane have done in recent years without players that need all theses years of S&C to develop.

We beat Mayo and were competitive in the Final particularly conditioning wise, for years we have physically been behind. That is progress, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Replying To eoinog:  "I believe there is hefty suspensions coming to the Tourlestrane management. It won't deter them in winning the Co Final. I admire the success of Tourlestrane and certainly would not be ABT but I hate the way they play the game and conduct themselves. I have said it before that it must cost them a small fortune to remain so successful as apart from an excellent Pitch their facilities are poor. No development in the last 20 years. All their resources are put into the teams. 2 years ago their ladies were intermediate. They went very close to winning a senior title last Sat. Their Junior team could very easily win the A final. Theyseem to have no interest in competing in A competition at underage. I can't remember the last time they won an A title. Very few of them make it to Co panels at underage. Their Junior midfielder is a horse of a lad who played club minor this year also. He will seemlessly take Stephen Henry's position in a year or two but he never played county."
I don't understand the comment about their style of play. It's the same as all other teams play now, if another team goes on to dominate club football the same comments will apply. They have not been impressive this year but last year the racked up some very high scores. On the under age question they are like many rural clubs with small population, I'd rather see teams feild on their own at B or C than amalgamations. A good flood lit pitch, competitive in lads and girls football as well as having a hurling team is what been a Gaa club is about, success is a bonus.
