All Ireland Final 18 - Dublin V Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I'm a very proud Dub today, some achievement, the least star-studded Dublin side in recent years and such a commanding performance.
Fair play to Tyrone for having a real go but they're in the early stages of being a very good side.
The 5 in a row is on, watch out Kerry!!

Huge congrats to Dublin and posters on here like DamotheDub.

Great team, modest. Hard earned success. Sons of former players. Real GAA people.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Congratulations to Dublin, fantastic achievement 4 in a row, Tyrone done well and missed a lot of chances but they done themselves proud too,
who can stop the drive for 5? if I was betting now I think they will win it next year again."
Agree great win for Dubs and fully deserved but hats off to Tyrone I thought you made a great game of it. Massively wayward in shooting and a very dodgy penalty and this could have went to wire. But congrats again to Dubs - Tyrone will learn a lot from this and feel if they can get another 1-2 forwards they will land Sam soon.

5 in a row was won today my friend by Kerry Minors. Unless minor wins don't count lol.

Well done dublin. They're passing is perfect. Not one dublin pass didn't find a blue jersey. Well done to Tyrone for not giving up but their forwards failed them today, very poor shot selections when their backs won some hard earned ball

An absolute chasm in class if we're honest. Well done, Dublin.

Poor enough performance from Tyrone. Very average Dubs performance. Why oh why oh why did'nt Tyrone start with Cavanagh in full forward. Why oh why did they not pump balls into the big target man. Galway scored from this tactic, Kerry use to have Kieran Donaghy do it. Dubs not good under high ball in box. Yet Tyrone like Galway just pass the ball out to the wings then shoot- usually wide. No ball into the box.

seen a thing, Colm kav a defo black card
but receives nothing bs, lane trying his best
to keep Tyrone in it"
In fairness John small pulled a Tiernan mc Cann :) and there was a possible black card not acted on involving,I believe Murchin,so stop whining since we had a dubious penalty given against us that changed the tempo to suit Dublin at a crucial time. Must be hard being so bitter like you are. The games over and I've congratulsted the Dubs while you're still smarting from a semi final loss. Get over it man.

"Game has become unwatchable unless dublin are involved " these panellists are a joke.Great team but these 3 are so antifootball you'd wonder how they can bear to make a living out of commenting on it

Lane was desperate in the first half especially. Dublin were very poor and very nervous until the ref threw them a bone with the first non-penalty. That settled Dublin down, and gave them the cushion they needed. Poor game all round - 16 bad wides from Tyrone and a Dublin game heavily-reliant on stuff Northern teams get slated for, namely non-stop handpasses and blanket defending. I took several pictures of the pitch with 15 Dublin players in their own half!

Agree with you on one point - and I've said this for ages - Tyrone should have big mcNulty in square - he's 6-7 and built like a tank - hit long balls to him - not Cavanagh - he's too good a sweeper - until Mickey adopts this tactic and gets 1-2 more forwards then Tyrone will come short against the Dubs. In saying that I thought they played well but 16 wides is ridiculous!!!

Well hard luck to Tyrone, but it was never in doubt never and why would Dublin relentlessly attack when the game was over and all that was left was to run down the clock? When Dublin needed the scores they executed them well a bit wasteful at the start but it really was over at HT.

The Dubs are beatable. Just stop hand passing out laterally to wingmen and then taking wild shots. But instead have 2 big target men in the square and pump the high ball in. Kerry did this to perfection with Kieran Donaghy and Colm Cooper. They won lots of titles with this tactic.

Imagine what the score would've been if down had been there. Tyrone are the best of the rest.

Congratulations Dublin, no excuses from me you upped the tempo when needed and got the goals to keep us at bay. If we had another star quality forward we could give u's a real push but unfortunately at the moment we don't. Maybe with an extra years experience Brennan can turn into one but I feel that's clutching at straws. Anyway hats off enjoy the win.

Ultimately Dublin deserved to win and they are definitely one of the most clinical teams ever seen but I can't help but feel the penalty swung the momentum massively and definitively. Was never a pen and it would have been interesting to see them without that. I still think they had too much for Tyrone but that was a mistake from the officials in my opinion.

Galwayford, you sound like a guy living in the past with no understanding of the game. Target men of Donaghy's stature and players like Cooper feeding off him don't come around often. You can't just throw anybody into that situation and expect results.

I've looked at it again now a few times and it was a foul, he was taken out of it by an illegal tackle and I've seen them given for far less. But like you say, we still would have won I have no doubt.
