All Ireland Final 18 - Dublin V Tyrone

Replying To GeniusGerry:  "Best of luck to both sides next weekend. I have my name in the club draw for a ticket to watch our minors so I might even be there on the day.

I don't really mind who wins but like most on this thread I am finding it hard to see how Tyrone can beat Dublin. They had a good look at Dublin in Omagh and Mickey Harte is a brilliant manager I don't doubt that he will have a good plan, whether they have the personnel to pull it off is the question. I agree with Jimbo if we get a wet day and a slippery ball I think they have a better chance as anything can happen in those conditions.

Anyway well done to both sides on reaching the final. There is no doubt we have the two best sides this year on show so may the best team on the day win."
Cute Kerry Hoorism.

Can't get excited atall
The trip to Omagh knocked all the life out of it for me
It was so flat, so boring.

Give em all hurleys, make a real game of it.

Of course I will be roaring on the day, of course I will care more next week but as of right now my interest is at a record low, which for someone who has been all over the country following the dubs for 25 years, is really quite sad"
The sad reality of modern Gaelic football.

And if a true Dublin fan (and all of us on here long enough know that you are) feels that way, imagine how 30 counties not involved in the final feel.

I'm overseas so it was a struggle to catch the hurling final but I managed it. I won't be going to the same lengths to catch the football (if its convenient I'll watch of course) and that will make it the first final I won't have seen either live or in the flesh since I was on a plane during the 2000 replay.

The GAA have created a monster for the sake of the bottom line. It is now starting to turn and will inevitably bite them in the rear end.

This is where the Railway Cup is the solution. While possibly controversial, such an elite competition could financially reward elite playing staff and be the highest level of competition in the sport contested by the 5 provinces.

Did you not enjoy the last two football AI finals? Dublin won each of them by 1 point. They were two of the most enthralling finals in the history of the game. I'm not getting where your negatvitity is coming from. Over 3 AI final matches in the past 2 years (replay included) and over 210 mins of enthralling football with almost 1/4 million fanatics attending these games, only 2 points separated the two teams. How more thrilling can you get? The gaelic football prophets of doom are become boring at this stage.

It's called revisionism

That Cavan fella has never had much positive to say about Dublin

Even before we started winning titles in a row

There's always been a Pale v Ireland divide. Just the way it is. Our rural brethren took a humble county on the southwest coast of Ireland for granted.

If Tyrone decide that under no circumstances do they advance beyond their 45. Letting their dangerous opponent have the ball for as long as they want. It could become very ugly and farcical; a situation where you have the most dangerous opponent on the island refusing to attack.

Oh god.. The negativity is nauseating at this stage. As for comparing football to a completely different code / game - sure we may as well compare it to ice-hockey!!

Potentially a very good show on TG4 tonight about Tyrone football @20:30.

Tír Eoghain - the Unbreakable Bond.

Looks like it could be good talking about the Tyrone minors from 1997/1998 and just how many of the players ended up coming on to the successful senior teams from 2003-2008.

fine let them do what they want. we will just win 0-01 to 0-00

IF that's the case and the game does become farcical which I don't think it will cause I expect Tyrone to attack, then the province taking a lead and playing keep ball won't be their fault.

It will take nerve. Tyrone will be making it clear that they aren't allowing their dangerous opponent to draw them out. When their dangerous opponent do attack, they will be there waiting and could turn their dangerous opponent over when they do transition. Tyrone proved that they can do that in Omagh. The final can become a game of chicken. A tactic that will bring about a deluge of criticism. It does however change the engagement into one of who blinks first?

We're favourites that's right and ok.
We were favourites in 2014 and that didn't end well for Dublin.
Tyrone will be well up for this and won't want the first chance in a final in a decade to fail.
They'll be dangerous and it's set up for them to cause an upset ala Donegal.
Thing is , are Dublin better prepared than 2014 ? I know what I think.

Please god no! I really hope nothing like that happens and to be honest I don't think it will.I believe both teams will be going for it for the majority of the game.It might be cagey at different times, obviously the first few mins and the last few depending how much is in it at that stage, but I think it'll be a good oul battle otherwise.

Huh, the only noise I heard lately was a collective scratch of the head at the latest Brit attempt at imposing a hard border on the 6 counties, not sure what noise you heard Wayno?

Dublin are favourites, clear favourites and rightly so, you have earned that for sure. Be under no illusions, if Tyrone were to pull this off this would eclipse anything they achieved in the past 20 years or so and I dont mean any disrespect to Armagh and Kerry in that period. I am just enjoying the whole build up and anticipation, why the hell not, as a football mad county we have earned our place there and whatever happens we are Tyrone, united, strong and determined.

I don't disagree with you. Please read my post again - I wasn't referencing the past 2 finals.

My post was in relation to Liam's (a Dublin poster!!), agreeing that there is an inevitability about this final.

I know better than to write off Mayo but their early exit this year could be seriously worrying. Have we seen the last team capable of consistently challenging Dublin breath their last??
