Clare have Limerick in Cusack Park on Sunday. That should be a cracker, winners qualify for Munster Final, draw will be enough for Limerick. One team to watch, Cork. Galway and Kilkenny are still around too. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1746 - 11/06/2018 12:40:35 2109910 Link 0 |
Yes your 100% right. The dust will be let settle. We have time to do that!!! His decisions in the league were strange but in his defence we were down a huge number of regulars for the league and had a lot of rusty players come cship. However, Waterford had bigger problems when we played them and we were lucky to get a draw there. Hopefully the right call will be made. On another note, hopefully the two injuries to our two best players in the cship arent too bad and they recover for their club. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 11/06/2018 16:24:10 2110061 Link 0 |
...but Limerick are going well and will have a All Ireland quater final tussle with Kilkenny...revenge for 2007??? Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2478 - 11/06/2018 21:32:18 2110249 Link 0 |
KK were even asking questions of Cody after 2/3 rounds of the league. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 2373 - 11/06/2018 08:38:21 2109712 No they weren't. The only people "asking questions of Cody" were from outside the county. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2478 - 11/06/2018 21:35:59 2110250 Link 0 |
The good times are well and truly over in Kilkenny....stumbled into a Leinster Final, stumbled over the line against Dublin and Offaly, should have been beaten about 15pts in Galway. Coady should have retired on a high after the 2015 All Ireland...but no just hanging around like a bad smell. Doesn't matter if it's Galway, Limerick, Cork or Clare... they would all hammer Kilkenny anyway.

Kind Sir. I am watching KK with many many years. Never, ever, write them off. They had an Under 21 team that was beat two years ago by Westmeath and ran close by them last year. They seemed very average indeed against my own county in the All Ireland Final last September, yet 6 or 7 of that team have seamlessly transformed in what would appear to be fine Senior players. Be very careful. Oldtourman (Limerick) - Posts: 4340 - 12/06/2018 09:34:26 2110392 Link 2 |
No, I would far prefer to meet Cork in a Munster Final than Clare.

Nah...they are like a dying wasp and their final sting was Wexford another team who should have flattend Kilkenny before they got stung! Even their own faithful fans admit Kilkenny are in transition and trying to build a team again and to give them time. But who cares really...enough about them they have had plenty of Glory, it's about Limerick, Clare, Cork and Galway this year.... they are all fine teams and would make mouthwatering All Ireland semi finals!

I can see Kilkenny winning Leinster. Cody has 4 weeks now to work out a game plan to beat Galway. Not many managers have beaten him twice.

I'd actually say the opposite is true and the only people asking questions of him were within the county. A few former players did interviews and articles...maybe not directly questioning him but i'd suggest they certainly were doing that in their own way. There was certainly small rumblings from the public that maybe it was time he stepped aside. He's proved them wrong though, there's no doubt about that https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2017/0612/882207-richie-power-column-this-is-brian-codys-biggest-test/ tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 12/06/2018 14:47:55 2110550 Link 0 |
I think the 2013 All Ireland comes with an * beside it given Clare didn't even have to play 2 of the big 3 (Tipp, KK) to win it, and beat a far from great Cork team who would not have even made the final if Ryan O'Dwyer hadn't got himself sent off for Dublin with 20mins to go in the semi final. And all this without even mentioning the equalising score of the drawn final came 35 seconds over the 2 mins of injury time. I think the fortunes of both teams in the presiding years attests to this with Clare going without a win in Munster until last season. And Cork falling off a cliff after 2013 until last seasons renaissance. Miami305 (Galway) - Posts: 147 - 12/06/2018 16:41:22 2110608 Link 0 |
It's amazing isn't it Oldtourman. I'd rather get 6/7 lads off an under 21 team that are ready for senior hurling than win something with 12/13 average hurlers and only have 2/3 make the step up to senior grade.

Totally incorrect. The bones of the 2013 Cork team is still playing. They reached the 2014 and 2015 Munster finals aswell and were and are good. This rubbish about 2013 being a soft All Ireland is a nothing argument. Cody would be the first to shoot it down as claptrap. Cork Tipp and Kilkenny have won many 'softer' All Irelands. Galway beating Waterford last September could be considered soft..if people used your Logic.

"Coady should have retired on a high after the 2015 All Ireland..." Coady? His name is Cody. "...but no just hanging around like a bad smell." Hopefully that bad smell will be filling your nostrils well into the summer. Long after the stench of your arrogance has faded. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2478 - 12/06/2018 20:11:03 2110718 Link 0 |
Ok. I take your point.

Coady/Cody big deal so what. And when they do fall back into their slumber like 1994-1998/1999 (actually they have already fallen into that slumber) ....don't hear many people asking questions or showing any interest. Anyway I'm finished talking about Kilkenny...they bore me unlike Limerick,Clare,Cork and Galway all so exciting to watch. katser (Galway) - Posts: 2212 - 12/06/2018 20:48:14 2110747 Link 0 |

KK knocked out Tipp, Cork comfortably beat KK in the quarters and Clare beat Cork after a replay. Limerick beat Tipp in Munster and Clare knocked out Limerick. Why is it considered a soft All Ireland for Clare? You talk about Clare being lucky with 35 seconds added to get the equaliser in the drawn game? What about Clare being unlucky that Shane O Neill was only given a yellow on the pitch after he tried to decapitate Honan off the ball? This soft All Ireland crap really irks me. Terrible bitter stuff. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2490 - 13/06/2018 04:22:23 2110839 Link 0 |
The 2013 All-Ireland was won fairly and squarely by Clare. Cork did their best to overcome Clare in both games, but Clare were always that bit better on both days. Nothing would have pleased me more than to have robbed them the first day out. Time-keeping by referees is never an exact science and referees generally play from half a minute to two minutes over "extra" time, so that can't be used as an excuse. In the end, the better team won the All-Ireland. What does Mr Cody say? The better team always wins. Midleton (Cork) - Posts: 643 - 13/06/2018 11:42:26 2110943 Link 0 |
Yes Cork followed up 2013 by winning the Munster final against Limerick and proceeded to be hammered by Tipp by 10 points in the AI semifinal. Cork didn't reach the 2015 Munster final like you stated. Cork lost to Waterford in the Munster semi. They then went out of the Championship to Galway by 12 points in the quarter final. So following 2 years "the were and are good Cork team" you state went out of the championship by 2 defeats combining for 22 points. Shall we move on to 2016..... 9 point Munster quarter final loss to Tipp and eventually went out again Wexford. Miami305 (Galway) - Posts: 147 - 13/06/2018 12:15:15 2110984 Link 0 |
