I think McKeever and Kane were asked but couldn't commit due to work/college commitments, it's a shame because Kane could be a great option for us in the half back line. Burlingham could have made the panel but you would have to trust Andy after seeing the all the keepers in training the last 2/3 months. Too many people are concerned about where players come from, I know a lot of people didn't rate MOD but he brought in a few Ratoath players and know Andy McEntee who would have a great knowledge of the game has kept most of them on the panel so I don't see why people are still complaining. A few years ago there was too many players from O'Mahonys on the team and now it's Ratoath. I think the Ratoath players deserve to be on the panel but one or two could improve. O'Mahonys won the championship in 14 and 15 and last year only had one player on the panel, Daragh Smyth after I think O'Coilean and O'Reilly were dropped/left the panel. People need to stop coming up with reasons to complain and support the team, Sunday is a big game. Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 03/02/2017 19:43:23 1951659 Link 6 |
Being perfectly honest I think it's a very average looking team, but McEntee needs plenty of time to put his stamp on it and see how we go. It should be the usual tight tense local derby between ourselves and Kildare, with the potential to be a very exciting game, probably not all that high in quality but exciting none the less. It's a mediocre team - I'm not saying there are others who could do a better job and aren't on the team and I understand the Managers selection Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 757 - 03/02/2017 20:45:40 1951675 Link 0 |
Yes this was a major complaint of Micko teams too many Ratoath lads so I expect the usual knockers to come on with usual moans. But perhaps not as Andy is the great saviour and can do no wrong......................yet.

Haha well there's an overreaction now isn't it numberedjerseys, don't get your knickers in a twist lad. I wasn't suggesting McEntee isn't picking what he feels is our best team at present, it just happens to be my opinion that currently our best team is quite average (in an overall context). Or perhaps you feel we're All-Ireland contenders? if you do then I admire your optimism, genuinely. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 03/02/2017 21:04:30 1951683 Link 2 |
I for one, cannot wait for Sunday's game. Would love us to be promoted naturally, but if the performances and fitness appear to be on the up I'll be happy. As a Meath fan in Scotland who loves GAA, I love coming on here and reading everyone's take on things, but I just wish there was a little less negativity, especially when a ball hasn't been kicked in the League in anger yet! Tha amount of moaning can people not wait until at least after the game? :) ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 04/02/2017 08:10:59 1951731 Link 4 |
Those "worried" about Brian Sheridan, when did they see him last play? People have formed an opinion because he didn't make it years ago.The guy has obviously been going well in training and I can tell you he is a good ball winner,it is not all about scoring 5 points a game.If he can win ball and lay it off that would be a major plus for us.He is physically stronger now too.At least give him a chance before ye form opinions. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 04/02/2017 08:21:23 1951732 Link 3 |

I guarantee Brian Sheridan will score 4+ points tommorow ! This guy is a fantastic football, he may or may not work but he's worth a try grahamc9897 (Meath) - Posts: 1174 - 04/02/2017 08:34:32 1951737 Link 6 |
Interesting from the team that played Louth in our last competitive game. Going into the first game in the league only 8 start and only 4 play in the selected positions the last day. bobkarlgees (Meath) - Posts: 1263 - 04/02/2017 08:57:28 1951749 Link 0 |
Yeah anyone worried about him obviously didn't see him play the last two years. Although it is club football I would rather have him over Newman for the last two years.

In Newmans defene he was often rushed back.I think Newman works better off a full forward, real pity we can't have SOR as a FF.

What's peoples opinion on our free taker? lenihan is a confidence player and it would do no harm to let him take them, he's also great with both feet, I can't say iv seen Brian Sheridan play too much but presume he's going to take them tomorrow? Cillian O'Sullivan is the only left foot option so that's also a good option. redser123 (Meath) - Posts: 403 - 04/02/2017 12:42:07 1951793 Link 0 |
Long range it could be a problem to be honest.
