League games in order; RoyalClass (Meath) - Posts: 789 - 23/01/2017 16:48:11 1948156 Link 0 |
Just out of interest when have Galway became a great side, the majority of this team will have beat a nd drew with them, and this was under mod. And a one off game v Mayo don't count for much when Tipperary hammer you afterwards. Could be wrong because but I count Galway a win and Fermanagh too, that's promotion IMO

I said we would finish 4th and that would be ok imo

I never said Galway are a great side but they beat us last time out and they've improved under Walsh. Its just a flimsy prediction though so don't read too much into it but I think they've a bit more about them then we do.

In Mc Gills defense, wasn't Mc playing against Donegal in a challenge on Saturday ? surely he wasn't right for Sunday's game.

He was caught out once or twice last year but I still think he's our best option.

Promotion is far from certain but no reason we cannot win our home games and pick up a point or two on the road. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2151 - 23/01/2017 21:01:10 1948235 Link 4 |
A hand injury curtailed his progress last year, hopefully he get a clear run this time. We dont have many options in this area

I'd hope we have at least 8 league points by the time we go down to Clare. That is what we should be aiming for with four (winnable) home games. Lets hope any off days and points dropped can be regained away along the way. Of course nothing goes to plan in NFL2. GlasagusOr (Meath) - Posts: 1348 - 23/01/2017 21:11:58 1948241 Link 0 |
Regarding Conor McGill.. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 23/01/2017 21:13:19 1948242 Link 3 |
Lets hope Corofin beat Dr Crokes in Club semi final so that they are not available to Galway when we play them on March 5th which will improve our chances of getting a home win !! Royal_Rover (Meath) - Posts: 72 - 23/01/2017 21:13:41 1948243 Link 0 |
Alan Forde should be available for Kildare game, different competition. Royalreddevil (Meath) - Posts: 2 - 23/01/2017 21:20:25 1948245 Link 0 |
Way I see it we are capable of beating any of those teams or losing to any of them. Will prob drop unexpected points and pick up unexpeted points.

Fully agree, it seems just because McGill is the only player who actually is a full back that people think he should start there.

As for full back what about dan O'Neill hes young and a physical presence ,but I can see keoghan getting played here as experience counts loyalroyal15 (Meath) - Posts: 56 - 23/01/2017 21:42:31 1948256 Link 0 |
Thought Colm O Rourke's article in the Indo recently has some merit. He says perhaps some counties spending large sums of money on their senior team training programme need to think again . Any county who have no chance of SAM for many years fit the bill here, Hate to admit it but if no progress this year, then we withraw from Senior Championship on a temporary basis at least. That money could be used more wiselly elsewhere. I wonder is it a sin to think like that in Meath?

A sin? Think some of the lads on here would favour execution without trial, but seriously pulling out of championship to save a few bob? Would mean death of football within county. Cannot see how that option would improve football in any county. How much did Meath spend on preparation of team last year? seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2151 - 23/01/2017 22:04:31 1948262 Link 5 |
Every county outside of division one should put the league (not championship) as their prime focus for the season. At least you know you have seven games for sure and against teams of a similar enough standard. Be the best you can be in the league (to improve/progress in real terms) and let the championship take care of itself later on. GlasagusOr (Meath) - Posts: 1348 - 23/01/2017 23:10:30 1948272 Link 0 |
