Replying To hurley1:  "Well as a trim supporter, I am very relieved they are back in the very capable hands of john Andrews , he's managed most if not all of that trim team since they were nippers at various stages!!! You never know what you're missing until its gone.!!!!"
Was Andrews not in charge for the final 2 years ago?

Replying To oldsam_newsam:  "Good point about the Trim defence, Colin Doyle is a massive loss and it's hard to see them being competitive at the business end without him.

They should bring Douglas back to the half back line, add a bit of strength and speed there. Ironically the opposite move to what the Meath footballers should do as Douglas could possibly add a bit to the football half forward line."
Yes I'd agree about their half back line but from what I've seen Douglas is their main scoring threat apart from toher

Yes Douglas is very important for creating scores from open play with the likes of Heffernan who is easy to read where he just wants to get in front then charge into the defender and try and draw a free. Young peter Farrell though looks like a very good talent.

He's been on the sideline (vocal as usual) anytime I've seen Trim play the last 10 years. Hardly a new appointment.

Great club man all the same.

After the final defeat to Kiltale he stepped down as manager and away from the team entirely and was just a supporter. Eamonn Clancy came in as the new manager.

I will call you on that one
They played us in league this year and JA was in dressing room , sideline giving instructions and speaking to team at half time and after game.

Now I support kilmessan but don't think I'd be allowed in dressing room to give my two pence worth

Ok well Clancy was the manager last year outright and as far as I'm aware he was manager this year up to the navan game. Perhaps chive was helping out as eamonn was on holidays that week?????????

I thought that Andrews was a selector with Clancy.

Club ratings out of 10 after three rounds.
Kiltale: 10/10. Team to beat. Excellent talent and showing all signs of champs.
Killyon: 8/10. Very impressive so far, will be tough opposition for anyone.
Blackhall Gaels: 8/10. Big win against Dunboyne should qualify them for knockouts.
Kildalkey: 7/10. Good solid start and if they have a full team in knockouts will challenge Kiltale for title on any given day.
Kilmessan: 7/10. Like Kildalkey when all players available they can stop Kiltale.
Trim: 6/10. Not good to be changing Manager mid season. Given a lesson by Kildalkey in round one but responded well since. Won't qualify tho.
Longwood: 5/10. Played well in first two rounds and are a tough unit. Will stay up.
Navan O'Mahonys: 5/10. Like Longwood, playing well in a tough group, really put it up to Kilmessan and Kildalkey, will stay up.
Dunderry: 4/10. Got win against Clann na nGael to keep them up. Target achieved.
Dunboyne: 4/10.very disappointing so far. Big improvements needed.
Boardsmill: 4/10. Got a win to stay up but really struggling as a club going forward.
Clann na nGael: 2/10. Totally out of their dept in Senior. Relegation Certs.

As far as I'm aware Andrews was a selector for Trim under Clancy. Not exactly a huge change for them to have him as manager now...

Does anyone know if it's just a stop gap measure for the rest of the year? Would he be allowed continue as a selector for Meath if he was still the manager of a senior club in the county?

could be just untill the end of the year. i would doubt he would be allowed to combine both roles

I'd agree
I know nick Fitzgerald did both club and county but we are in with the big fish next year and need even more than what the lads gave this year to win CR cup and I hope they do
When you get moving keep pushing!!!!

How come there was no HS Club Hurling team of the week after the last round of Championship games last weekend?

Predictions for next weekend?

Few strange fixtures on the schedule.

Kilmessan v Kildalkey on a Thursday, in DUNGANNY!! What's wrong with a club ground getting this fixture and why not play it at the weekend? You'd wonder which club that is suiting.....

Full round of SHC fixtures the day of the All Ireland the week after. 12pm throw in, and IHC at 6pm that evening, more or less ruling out going to croke park for all the hurling people of the county. Why couldn't these games be friday or saturday? Minor final shouldn't be affecting any adult fixtures. Hopefully these will get changed.

Whatever about playing the games on sunday, could they not have them at 10.30/11am... As far as I know, all the county team have the option of buying tickets for the final & im sure most will want to go... an extra hour would make a big diference... and they could themn play intermediate on the monday evening. Its just my opinion but 12noon is madness.
