Replying To Jinxie:  "Absolutely. Still can't fathom the reason for it.

I'm working Saturday till 12 and can't see how I'm gonna get to Dungiven in time. There was very little thought and consideration for travelling support.

I thought it was one of the things the GAA were banging on about a few years about fixing games at a safe time to allow adequate travel time for people getting to games.... 2.30 on a working day doesn't seem to tick that box....."
If it was 7pm people would be moaning that they wouldn't be back from Owenbeg until all hours/couldn't bring kids keeping them up late etc (as was mentioned by some ahead of Dublin 6:35 throw-in). If it was at 5pm it wouldn't suit people working a full day. It's impossible to please everyone...

Leaving at 9:30 for a 2pm throw in, is that not very early. Anybody know what time the bus would arrive back to Navan at ?

the only dunboyne player you forgot to mention was donal lenehan
no points for guessing what club your from
1 lavin is a mile off
2 finn not bad but douglas is ahead of him
3 jones is a good prospect but no where close to adult county

maybe gally could be called back in midfield !!!!!!!!!!

What's wrong with 4.30 or 5?

The issue with the Dublin game was an exceptional situation and also involved television, this game has neither.

What's the difference in leaving Derry after a 5pm game or leaving clones or somewhere after a 7pm game? None. It would have been a much more suitable time.

Replying To umpireview: "Then why have you picked two other players instead of him for derry game???????"
Thats not my team..thats ziggy team..he asked the question about Eamon Wallace playing of Newman..so i but Eamon in corner forward and moved Jones in ..i thought i pressed reply to his post !

Don't worry i would have young Douglas in my Team :)

This was my reply to "umpireview"..i explained that it was Ziggy team..it was the Eamon Wallace playing of Newman conversation, and God love me i made a mistake by not pressing the reply button to his answer :)

Listen i don't pick Teams on here because you all seem to get disgruntled about it when i do..i picked a half a team once and Browncow nearly had a baby or a calf and he is still not the best after it !

Anyway its ziggys team and he is from Ashboure and has a good taste in music :)

You're working until 12 on Sat Jinxie, so 4.30 or 5 would suit you just fine. Some people wouldn't like that because it'd mean not being home until 10pm or so. Some people are probably working until 5. So 4.30/5 wouldn't suit them. Some people aren't working at all, so 2.30 suits them fine. No matter what time it's at, there are some people who it won't suit.

Also you are overlooking the fact that this is a designated home game for Derry, so they couldn't play it in Clones. I assume if Meath came out of the hat first and it was at 2:30 in Navan you'd have no problem with the throw-in time.

Living in Limerick , times of the matches don't bother me that much its a full day where ever we are playing. its travelling so far down the years to see a second half collapse in most matches that really annoy me and I cant see much change for the Derry game. I Haven't missed a game in a long time but cant watch stuff like we all witnessed vs Dublin second half so I will miss this one . hopefully new management and fitness coaches will come in after this game because I think we have a fairly good panel of players that are not playing to 100%

I wasn't for a second suggesting that the game should have been played in clones, I was making the example of it as a venue and fans from say donegal last sat evening.

I don't see why it has to be so early when there's a long journey involved. Not saying it needs to be at 7, but there's a compromise.

Well thats the keyword Jinxie that does not seem to be in the GAA dictionary anymore "compromise"

Unless of course your from Dublin

The point is the the GAA don't really care about the likes of us..

I will be going, and I'm heading from the middle of Westmeath, but I completely agree with your sentiments,
I too am actually looking forward to next year, and while I will be hoping and praying we get a good run in qualifiers, but that in no way should deflect from what HAS to be done when this season is over.
I think a totally new set up would restore my mojo about Meath football and I hope it would for you too.

Buy the paper! :P

Seriously though you have to read the whole thing really too much to repeat.

He said we have very good footballers. That he was disappointed that we didn't have a cut of it against Dublin.Hinted that we lack belief ad that there are no excuses going up to Derry.

The attitude in the last few weeks makes me think it will be a struggle in Derry.
