He is some workhorse too

Yes Ziggy, he was excellent throughout the game. Pity Meath didn't get a goal the time he was creamed. Tormey reminded me of Joe when past his prime. Hopefully Donnacha Tobin is OK for the Dublin game.

missing enough defenders..

I thought Tormey was better than Newman and McDonagh though.

Indeed he is,by far our most skillful and intelligent player.

I was really impressed with O'Sullivan, maybe he could be what I thought biggie would be like. Anyone else think especially towards the end that Louth just ran through us very easily?

Yes the Louth sub #24 ran through us too easily late on. You can just imagine what Dublin could do at will.

Louths tactic in the first half was to play high ball into Grimes.Meath had that covered, but when they ran at us,we looked dodgy to say the least. We won by 4 in a game we dominated and Louth were poor in my opinion. We probably were a 10 point better team.

Well done to Meath today. Better team won. We lost it in the first half and were lucky to be just 5 behind at half time and too many of our forwards were not performing. Mind you if we could have nicked a second goal youse may have got the shakes. Good luck against the Dubs.

Has our fitness improved?

Replying To ziggy32001:  "Thought we were comfortable and controlled the game.O'Sullivan was fantastic and our best player.Harnan,Wllace,Keoghan also had goof outings, the two midfielders were solid.
Newman and McDonagh both very poor though, and we are still not clinical enough.Louth were very poor and we should have buried them. That goal Louth scored is a big concern, they caused problems once they started running at us."
I would add Douglas to that list and as was said last week McDonagh plays better when introduced later in game. Newman will have to up his game big time to trouble the Dublin full back line

O Sullivan a class act alright, with a great attitude, thought we looked fitter today but got a bit jitterey near the end, which is understandable after last year.

Very intresting performance.I have not and will not slag off Micko..What i am starting to see is a Plan based finally on Speed,Strenght, youth,Passion and players working for eachother. When you add in the Players who are injured plus Menton i really think the next few years we will see Meath back in contention.O sullivan ,Harnan,Rooney,Douglas,Wallace looked pure class today.Louth are very average but i honestly like what i am starting to see.
Compared to the games against Wicklow and Westmeath last year we look sooooo much fitter and focussed. The Dubs will be a good match for these young lads to see where we are at and what lies ahead.I was sitting very close to a former Meath Legend today and his words were i like what i am seeing and it is refreshing to see the attidude of the players on the field. He also said the Team have put in serious work and that Portugal brought them on a ton.So lets all be positive and see what the Dubs bring. Please remember Dublin have basically destroyed everything in front of them for last few years.I have a feeling Meath are ready to stand toe to toe with them and got to have a Plan and stick to it.

I really hope Tobin will be back the next day,we are already short at the back.

Also maybe it was good that Newman had a dodgy game today. He was our best forward in the league,he might be ready for Dublin.the full forward line could be interesting for that game.I would say its unlikely McDonagh will start though.,

The only real issue for us today, was the fact that we didn't put more daylight between the sides. The best teams would have been more ruthless than us today. You cannot fault the effort of the team or general display.

Good win today, though we controlled every line of the pitch for the 70 mins. In the first half Keoghan, harnan and Burke were brilliant and put in some great tackles and turn the ball over at vital times. Wallace was very good and tormay was a real hand full when he stayed in.
Second half we started a bit sluggishly but asserted ourselves more as the game went on. Osullivan was my man of the match, thought the guy just oozed class and was so controlled on the ball. Bigger challenge in 2 weeks but I think we can ask a few questions of them.

I think so too.We have the forwards to trouble Dublin. I also thought today was the best game by management too.The team was setup well, players played were they should have played and tactically much better too.So credit to management today. A little worried about Tobin been injured again and O'Sullivan indeed oozes class.
