Should have enough to get past these Sunday however this is as far as we'll go in leinster unfortunately. Dublin will wallop us as per usual with mod saying that this is still a building process. Anyone find it strange that Smyth wouldn't start in the Mahoney's half forward line yet he's one of mods first choices to start to with Meath?

Replying To ziggy32001:  "Interesting that The Louth manager Colin Kelly suggested that Meath have four players that would get onto any team in the country.

Michael Newman
Donal Keoghan
Harry Rooney
Padraig Harnan"
Rubbish from Kelly

Big game, never thought id say this but the events with the hurlers should hopefully gel the team together, a siege mentality if you like to call it, again we can see that there is still alot of Meath bashing going on. Hatred of the Royal if you like, so I hope mod is using this as a motivational tool, particularly seeing who opposition are, and joes revelations .
Hon the Royal.

Smyth is one of NOM's best performers, not sure what you are on about.. Likely he will play in the half back line now as two of the backs are out.

Anyone see the Chronicle this week and read Mick O'Dowds piece?

I found it annoying that he keeps going on about injuries and now suggests that he is in year two of the rebuilding process as opposed to the reality of four.

I didn't see it Ziggy. I'm holding fire till end of championship. Can't stand waffle about injuries though.

Thought Smyth played well again Louth in O'Byrne. He deserves a start in my opinion

He's a fine footballer no doubt just can't understand from watching a lot of club football that hes been playing in the half back and corner back with NOM.

I am pretty disappointed with the Chronicle. I know it's a fine line but they seem to have become a mouthpiece for MOD without actually reporting on anything meaningful associated with what lineups were playing in challenges, who is moving well etc. With that in mind I didn't even buy the Chronicle this week and I would have always bought most weeks especially championship weeks. I just don't think they will be reporting anything that we don't know already.

Well you can surely see why he can be used as a half forward?? He has often played for Meath in the half back line too..

true that.Is this the first year in a long time that we didn't have any challenges that we could actually attend?

It's been very quiet for weeks. I take this as a positive

I think he can play as a half forward no doubt I just find it perplexing that he wouldn't be good enough to start with his own club there. Rather see a natural wing forward there who'll end up there long term if you get me. Lenihan is due a good game hopefully the inside line will bury a few goals sunday.

Team named Smyth is half back..

Surprised McMahon does not start,I heard he has been flying in challenge games etc.McDonagh tends to do better coming off the bench. They have Tormey down at midfield, but surely Cian O'Brien will play there?
I would be very worried about the backline generally. Not one natural corner back and obviously Keoghan(although forced) out of position.

Can't understand why POR gets the nod ahead of McHugh in goals.

Ziggy there would be something wrong if mcdonagh didn't start the man is our best forward on his day. How is orourke in instead of McHugh? And surely conor Downey is worth his place over Douglas ?

He was always gonna play whether we liked it or not..

Another season were we have 4 debutants too.Seems every year we have alot of new players.Donncha Tobin does not work as a corner back.

I like that Harnan is finally in his correct position of CHB, although I do think he can be caught out at times and needs protection. I like the forward line but I think you just have to ask yourself, is a Meath team with McDonagh at FF really going to achieve anything or at least improve on previous deficiencies? I have my doubts.
