Replying To ziggy32001:  "Interesting that The Louth manager Colin Kelly suggested that Meath have four players that would get onto any team in the country.

Michael Newman
Donal Keoghan
Harry Rooney
Padraig Harnan"
I would say that is pure mind games and also mind boggling he hasn't said graham reilly

In all reality, these are players that have a little growing reputation who Kelly actually doesn't rate at all.
Jelly was a fast skilful forward. Bar Newman, these players don't possess both of those attributes, maybe one but not both

Is keoghan not a bit small to mark grimes
Be more suited to mark burns
If reilly plays at mid field, Stewart will mark hin and try to cancel him going forward, Stewart is fit and pacy. Key battle there.
The other pair (Rooney and califf )are just for primary possession although James calif is a v.good free taker.

No but this is the team I think Mick O'Dowd may pick, not the team I think should play...

It would not be my choice but I believe MOD will choose Rooney and Tormey in Midfield, I also think McMahon will start the game.

yeah I think that Tormey will start in the corner and come out around midfield leaving Newman and a very strong mcdonagh inside

You sure? I heard it was only McEntee and McGill..

As for McDonagh,he generally plays better coming on from the bench,

is Ruairi O Coileain available . would definitely have him in instead of mcmahon. Just can't see Meath starring with same 6 forwards as last year .

No he left the panel.

Bryan McMahon has to start,he is our best dynamic forward..

Sure we'll not be starting with the same 6 forwards as last year
Stephen Bray has retired
Cillian O'Sullivan started almost every O'Byrne Cup and league match and has been out injured fir the last 2 championship seasons..

Why was McEntee Cut

don't think he was cut.. wasn't someone saying out injured..

If James McEntee was cut MOD might as well walk away now. One of the best performers for Meath in championship 2015. Standout player for Curragha in their run to Junior county and provincial wins.

If we can jettison players like that the team this weekend should be looking to win all Irelands never mind beating the dubs and winning Leinsters....

ok thanks it is a pity about o Coileain but I do think we need a more physical full forward and corner forwards than mcmahon especially in Derby game v Louth . I do think that mcmahon is a great player but would be better coming on with his speed . I still think Newman , Mcdonagh and Tormey coming out be a better option for this particular game. I expect COS and G . Reilly to have a stormer. Then it will be a pick between Eamon Wallace direct running and scoring ability or C.Downey ability to win breaking ball off midfielders Rooney and O Brien

How about taking 2 mins to read back through the thread before asking 'why was McEntee cut'? He wasn't cut, he's injured.
