hes nearly back ziggy, be nice to see him back fit. Him and tobin would be a fantastic midfield, with o'brien coming in for fresh legs.

Meathgaalad15, is the old amnesia kicking in or do you just not rate Rooney?

I am not sure how many would not have Rooney in their midfield pick at this point in time but I would suspect very few.

Flanagan would be a good replacement for Rooney when he tires.Similar to Rooney but not as good in ways, in my own opinion.

Just looking at an old article ... MICK O'DOWD last night became the fifth man to manage Meath in the seven years since Seán Boylan's departure but the Royal kingmakers are hopeful they have secured the formula to regain stability and in turn, national success.

"We've been in transition now for quite a while and we've been chopping and changing managers," county board secretary, Cyril Creavin told the Herald after last night's unanimous appointment of O'Dowd and his selectors on a three year term.

"And I think the general feeling there is that we should just leave the new man to get on with it and get some continuity going. There wasn't a single dissenting voice in the room and that is probably a reflection of Mick's pedigree and the strength of the backroom team he has assembled."

Creavin insisted that O'Dowd's goals would be set by the new manager himself but that there was confidence in Meath that they had appointed the right man.

Bizarre that 4 years on Mick O'Dowd is still saying we are in transition, even though at the time it was clearly stated we were in transition too long.
We have undoubtedly just stayed stagnant or went back a little since this horrendous appointment.

Apparently Jim McGuinness and James Horan discussed at length on newstalk last weekend about what tactics are needed to beat Dublin. Hopefully management picked up a few ideas.

James horan isn't qualified to be on about how to beat Dublin in my own opinion....... We don't have the players at our disposal to beat dubs this time around, hopefully in 3 or 4 years we will start to compete.with them again. Did they mention anything about how to beat Louth by the way......they have all the momentum here and I'm genuinely worried about this game. Then we can worry about the damage limitation job against the dubs

If we play well we will beat Louth,if we don't we won't have the belief, mentality to win

If we have this attitude we will be hammered by Dublin if we even meet them. This is the problem the attitude.

In fairness there shouldn't be any talk of how 'Meath can beat Dublin', unless we're actually playing Dublin.

We're playing Louth on the 12th of June and talk of playing anyone else is madness given the mental and indeed physical fragility of this Meath team.
