bert 09......... that is a major problem with inter county nowadays are lads willing to engage with a professional training schedule or is outside influences like work, education and in some cases social pressures dictating whether or not they play inter county football. Its interesting to hear how previous players like anthony moyles and shane mcanearney talk of a underlying law among a group of players for example moyles said if he wasnt pulling his weight he would know about it at training such as a hard shoulder from darren fay etc. So there was a discipline and respect within the group regardless of management.. However in the current set up without the influence of stephen bray kevin reilly, gillespe, orourke etc a lack of knowing your place exists with so many young players. would certain players be doing stupid things repeatedly if more senior players were around to put manners on them i doubt it. Navan o mahonys players have been given more opportunitys than any. satndout players gary obrien cormac mcguinness nial mc keigue kevin reilly the two brays have been there done that at inter county excellent servants. alan forde and brian dillion a series of bad injuries in last 2-3 years there delighted to return to football injury free never mind high intensity training....possibly be included in future panels. ruari o caoilan not willing to commit. james o reilly given numerous chances very good club player perhaps physicality may count again him at inter county. while a formidable club team navan omahonys this doesnt necessarily mean they must form the meath team as in previous years. brollysboy (Meath) - Posts: 46 - 05/05/2016 12:23:28 1852250 Link 0 |

Joey Wallace added back to panel, didn't he leave it a few months ago or was he dropped?? Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 05/05/2016 14:00:19 1852304 Link 0 |
I haven't posted in these forums in quite a while but I have been watching and reading most days. Firstly the amount of nonsense talk that's posted here by people who think they know all about Meath gaa is madness! The amount of crap is unreal! Unless you know concrete evidence of who left panal and why don't bother making up stories to look like you know everything. Krankyfred (Meath) - Posts: 19 - 05/05/2016 14:01:09 1852306 Link 0 |
I think we are winging it at this stage.. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 05/05/2016 14:14:18 1852312 Link 1 |
Krankyfred- You seem to know a lot- quite a few of the players who have left are players who did not get a start in any league match even though I would hazard a guess that they would be better than some who are still there -records may show that. Is it a not a bit strange how most of the good players are from a few clubs! Can you explain how with every match there is a different lineout in terms of positions but yet the same players are being played (if not injured). Would you have any explanation why Menton one of the best players has left the squad to travel, without travelling except up and down the pitches of the county? I do agree with you that guys are posting opinions as fact which helps nobody. I would also say that there is significant commitment being given by players and management and I wish them the best of luck. Brollysboy -you should try and get some of your facts correct before posting your opinion as fact. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 05/05/2016 15:18:58 1852342 Link 1 |

Browncows my opinions are accurate unlike several ludicrous opinions suggested. Krankyfred its refreshing to see some are in touch wth relaity like myself. were all behind the team at the end f the day. brollysboy (Meath) - Posts: 46 - 05/05/2016 15:54:49 1852374 Link 0 |
Firstly let me tell you all how I know my information : I am a supporter of Meath gaa for 30 years + and attend almost every game when I'm allowed by the wife! I am lucky to have 2 kids involved with Meath underage systems so my evenings are spent travelling to training with them etc. Most Tuesday or Thursday I am either in dunganny or passing and I make it my business to have a look at the lads training. I sit in my car and watch and can see with my own eyes what's going on rather than listening to Tom and joe and what they heard from someone else. I would encourage you to go and have a look and see who is there who is injured and who is performing well at training. Krankyfred (Meath) - Posts: 19 - 05/05/2016 16:36:38 1852386 Link 0 |
Ziggy I forgot to mention about McMahon. Yes absolutely it's great to see him back. He was fairly quick and nippy against Offaly. Also on joey Wallace I seen him and thought he looked very very light and doesn't seem to have built himself up at all. Maybe that's just the guys body and physique but I felt wen he was dropped that's that would have done him the world of good giving him the chance to nuckle down and build himself up to the physique of an intercounty footballer. Maybe I am just being very hard on the lad Krankyfred (Meath) - Posts: 19 - 05/05/2016 16:42:42 1852391 Link 0 |

Yes ziggy dunganny is where they train 90% of the time. I do recall a few weeks ago when I picked up the young lad they weren't there but on the way home noticed them coming out of the hill of Tara. (Then to read here they played cork that night ! I doubt cork would agree to a game on the hill ! ) Nobody ever stopped me going in. I live a bit away,I wouldn't mind seeing a few sessions, but would be worried if they were not there after the drive! ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 05/05/2016 18:49:09 1852426 Link 1 |
Krankyfred and brollyboys I do disagree with some of your comments and it does not matter how many training sessions you watch. Offaly is no better than a good club team. I do not think guys are picked on performance in training sessions, maybe they should be - Maybe if you went to a few matches in the senior championship you may find out how players perform and the senior grade is higher than junior and intermediate even though reading posts here one would be led to believe that the reverse was the case. I would agree that there are folk posting on treads about players who have difficulty getting on their own club teams. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 05/05/2016 18:58:10 1852428 Link 1 |
