Bit of an exaggeration to say Mickey Burke's time has passed after one poor pass with his first touch after coming into a game of huge intensity.

He's a great character to have around and will do a job where required.

That's not on what Mickey burke brings is with young lads he encourages not like some idiots that have been there making little of them. And from football terms ok is he colm cooper no. But he from my memory never let the meath team down. There was in that last few minutes more lads doin silly things menton kicking away possession under the stand shame McEntee let the ball between his legs.but they both had good games not slate and laugh at them for one mistake. Shameful statement shame on you.

Will a supporters bus be arranged? Could do without having to drive myself.

So if I head up to Dunganny for the next training session and start encouraging a few young lads does that mean im worth a run against Clare??

Yes. Also if Fermanagh fail to win we would be almost guaranteed promotion due to score difference. Hard to see both donegal and fermanagh getting results away against relegation threatened teams. Have a feeling that if we could get over the line against Clare that might do it for us

Although we had a horrendous number of brutal wides against Kildare I have a feeling lightning won't strike twice.

Considering the amount of chances we created throughout the league I would feel we have more than enough.

The worry would be are Clare going to lie down and be relegated?

The Clare game quite obviously becomes the most important game of the season

Win and see where it takes us. Can still see us needing a result in pt to gain promotion, that been said what a day that will be.

Not at all but if you took time to think of the commitment sacrifice that these lads put into there football for co meath.you might have an appreciation of what's involved.

I fully understand the commitment and sacrifice these lads make and hugely admire them for it, I still dont see how this means Mickey Burke should get a game

Hopefully the last day will be a coronation and not a cliff hanger that we have to get a result in.

Missing the point entirely. I've no problem with Andy's justifications for playing Mickey, he's the manager. The original post I replied to was justifying mickeys inclusion by saying 'he encourages young lads'. You can't justify anyone's inclusion in any sporting team in the world if that's all they're going to offer. Nothing against Mickey

I think its a very harsh to say Mickey Burke nearly cost us the game. But first I cant understand why Eathan Devive wasn't brought on, was he injured ? A big strong fella like him, that can attack, When we needed scores. And came on against Armagh and got that goal. Strange. If what you are referring to was when. Mickey was taken a free ? And there was absolutely nobody free. his options where limited. Short of hoofing in to forward line (which other lads where at) He went with a short pass that didn't work out. There was plenty of other mistakes out there.

Clare are a very good attacking outfit which could possibly play into our hands. In the last two games we've played, Clare haven't played any sort of defensive system which has lead us to score 3-40 between the two games. Now while I don't think our attack is as good as the last few years, I'd be relatively confident that our defence can get the better of Clare's attackers.
As for the other games, I can't see Donegal losing to Cork but I can definitely see Armagh getting something from Fermanagh. If we do beat Clare, I sort of hope that both Donegal and Fermanagh win their game. I think if we were to go into the last game with the possibility of promotion even if we lost (depending on score difference), that could be our downfall. The horror of the last game of the 2007 league where we could afford to lose to Wexford by 9 points and still be promoted still sticks with me (we ended up scraping through with an 8 point loss).

Clare are in the bottom 3 and will need to get something from this game. Last year if memory serves me correctly we stuck 25pts against them, Kerry put 30+ against them in the Munster championship. Last Sundays win against Kildare was done the hard way, this one should be done the easy way. A bit more composure on front of the posts is whats called for. Hopefully a reduction in the silly mistakes department. It is March, and the weather will probably have a big input as to how this one goes. With the correct approach, I honestly can't see anything other than a Meath win.

Meath are facing a new challenge. Up until now it has been a case of looking for consistency of performance which we have achieved. Now the challenge is to maintain consistency and win the games which we should on paper be winning. That's a whole other challenge - this team are not used to going into games as favourites. I expect the team will adapt their mindset and do the business.
