I don't think Daithi McGowan is on it - I think his brother Ben is. Ben has been starting mid-field for Ratoath and playing well. Daithi is a phenomenal talent and should have been on the 17's team last year - he was outstanding in teh Minor final last year - but still only 17 so plenty of time. Ryan, Morris and Ryan all started on last years Minor team - all good players. Saw Walsh a couple of weeks ago and he had a foot in cast.

Great win 6-16 to 1-9, some really impressive things happening at underage in the county. We must remember Meath football does not start and end with the Senior team, we have two seemingly very impressive U-17 and U-20 teams and they deserve out support. Next Monday bank holiday at 2pm in Navan the U-20's play Kildare in the next group game, let's all try get out for that.....

Good result today, seen James Conlon and Shane Walsh doing waterboy today. Know Walsh broke the foot but he had no boot on it today so maybe he could play some part at some point. Not sure what the story with Conlon is, anybody know ? If we can get them two back we had a lethal forward line. Jordan Morris was on the bench today, came on and kicked 4 points, 2 from play. I'd for sure have him starting. From what I seen today and at minor 2 years ago this squad has two weaknesses. A tall full forward could cause them trouble. All of our full back line are tough, tigerish and hardy but are all pretty short. And a big tall midfielder who can field lots of ball might hurt us. It did against Kildare at minor 2 years ago and even today Wicklow's 8 caught a lot of ball. (If only Conor Nash was there to solve this problem haha)

Conlon has been having trouble with his heart and this has affected the amount of training/games he has been playing...hopefully will get sorted soon.

That is awful, the poor lad. Really hope they can identify the problem and he can get back healthy

A hard earned win, the two Achilles heels of this team are a short full back line and occasionally struggling against a very tall midfielder. Kildare have both which hurt us. But we are really strong in the tackle and have great angles of running in attack. Jordan Morris off the bench was really excellent. Scored 1-1 and got a turnover to create the other goal. Big win as we are pretty much through the knockout stage and if we beat Laois into a semi and avoiding the Dubs till the final

Agreed, and thus has slowly been emerging in recent years, just without the silverware.
I always find it humorous to read people from far flung and exotic places like roscommon and tipperary and the likes say we do nothing at under age and arent putting the work in.
Sure let them keep thinking it.

We appeared to have developed a habbit of losing these close games underage, against Kildare especially. Brilliant to see a winning mentality creep in, giving us a lot to be optimistic about going forward.
