Under 21 Championships

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The only fault with the website is the U21 section. And even then, they do print the U21 results on the main results page.
For all other championships and leagues from U13 all the way up to adult, they have the results, tables and fixtures updated extremely quickly. Generally, the website is excellent.

Hard fought win for our U21s against Summerhill. Went 7 up with 20 minutes to go but Summerhill came storming back and probably should have won. A lot of the team is from the minor and U17 sides so I can't see them making the final.
And another big win for our U21 hurlers. Could be a cracker in the final against Na Fianna.

yes I see what you mean but anyway maybe the person updating the site has gone to do bit of early Christmas shopping !!

Ratoath is both football and hurling finals and it be some achievement to do double
Dunboyne I feel might scupper that.
Curraha for the A with the winner of bective/dunsany and dunderry to really test Moynalty/Carnaross

My predictions of winners is holding up.
Ratoath may run Dunboyne closer than I thought.
A. Killary emmets will to be pushed by Curraha.
B. very surprised that Bective/Dunsany got over Drum Meath hill. Moynalty Carnaross Dunderry final by looks of it with the North MEATH men coming out on top.
C. Poor kilbride can't get any luck but nobber deserved to win it out.

All all remaining games could be very interesting, Curraha lads will be hurting after Saturday, think Olivers will give them plenty on Sunday and with Kilery waiting in the final, any of the 3 could win.
Carnaross/Moyalty should have to much in the B
Think Ratoath will just about do it in the championship.

Not so sure about all these amalgamations though, even though if they are done for the right reason then fair enough, better then a load of walkovers, hard to grade them properly when you such a wide range of ages able to play.

Be very surprised if Dunderry beat Bective/Dunsany don't think they are up to much! Carnaross/Moynalty should win it out alright...

U21 championships are now fully updated on the Meath website. Fair play to them.

Surprised that Ratoath have gotten to the final - it is a young team - they only have 4 or 5 lads older than minor and have a few 17s as well. I know it is the same with some of the other teams but I was at teh Dunboyne Ashbourne game and I think Dunboyne only had 1 minor - everyone else was over 18! They were way to strong for Don/Ash that day and I expect they will be too strong for everyone!

Congrats to Conor Moriarty and Brian O'Reilly winning the Freshers A league with UCD today. Always good to see Meath players winning, both should have a big part to play in the under 20's next year

Dunboyne also missing Ronan Jones who I imagine would have been very dominant at this level

Was not expecting that result today.
Tones will be favourites for the final now.

With the division 1 and 2 finals coming up in the next two weeks who do we expect to be taken the honor?
Division 1:
Tones vs Ratoath - I think it will be a close game but expect the tones to come out on top. Ratoath seem to have a young team with not many players in there last year while The tones have a lot of players who' have been playing senior football and that will be the difference.
Players to watch;
Aherne
Saran
Padraig diamond
Thomas o Reilly

Division 2
Killary vs Curraha - again I think this will be a close game but I think killary might nick the win. The two teams are running teams and have good forwards so witch ever teams defense comes out on top will win and I think killary just have a little bit better defense
Players to watch
Moriarty
Murphy
Rowe
Fedigan
Clare

Every player on Tones is U20 with 5 minors included

Probably agree with you on the Division 1 game. Tones are physically strong and that bit more mature than this Ratoath team. 8 of the Ratoath starting team won Minor this year so they won't be easily beaten. I think though they only have 2 lads in their last year. I agree also on the players you mentioned to watch - but I would add Daragh Kelly for Ratoath - he is seen as mainly a hurler but as the Senior man on this Ratoath team it will be interesting to see how he goes!!

I think the Ha will win the second game. As a club they continue to outperform their numbers - they are used to winning and I think if the game is anyway tight they will come out on top! Again - I think the players you mentioned are the key men! Moriarty and Rowe in particular worth a watch!!

When are the games on??

So not much difference then - Tones won division 2 minor so good work been done up there! Should be a good game - I expect it to be very close!

Maybe I'm wrong but is Thomas o Reilly, Cian o neill, Charlie McGarry and Padraic diamond not over 20

Think Tones will shade it , Ratoath are very young and it was unexpected for them to get this far.
Tones have a lot of lads with Senior experience and came through the harder side of the draw and to beat Dunboyne who had a very strong U21 team who a lot of people (myself included) would of had down as hot favorites to win the whole thing out . Tones were v unlucky against Simonstown in the Senior and beat Ratoath in a closely contested affair in the quarter finals and a lot of the Tones lads would be involved in that team, whilst only a handful of the Ratoath lads are involved in the Ratoath Senior set up.
Will be a tight affair and hopefully Ratoath will win and carry on the good run we have been on with underage scene recently

No they were all minor in 2015. If there is U21 club competition next year ( no one seems to be certain if club also switches to U20 or if it stays U21) the Tones will have same side plus the next batch of U17 to supplement their squad.

Just seen that U21 final between Tones and Ratoath is fixed for 17th December...... doesn't that really make little of the competition and the teams. 2 more weeks training to take them up to xmas. Practically no break not to mention causing havoc with Christmas preparations etc. A disgrace if the truth be told. If its a draw replay is Christmas eve

Not to mention that given both Tones and Ratoath have such young teams there are bound to be a load of them working part time jobs and they will be under particular pressure that weekend given how close it is to Christmas! Madness!
