Replying To royaldunne:  "I think we need a genuine 6 , who that is ? Is for a higher power to decide. I think the two Conlon's would be great addition.
I also think many of this team were badly trained over a few years, (not mods fault)
But when new s&c coach came in he said so.
Anyway imo we have the structures in place at the top to deliver, no more moral victories, win at all costs, I wonder how many of our players would have that killer instinct to throw their gps at a player in injury time or throw away the kicking tee? Not condoning either but it shows a win at all costs mentality, and balls to put it another way, something Meath teams have been missing for awhile, mchugh said we had gone soft, I berated him for it . But in hindsight he was probably right. We need to get the steel of old back into our players and no one is better at that than the mcenetee brothers."
So the new s/c coach said so gospel full facts and truth beyond doubt. Give me a break.we are blaming all our woes on fitness. This is what all new management s/c say when come in new it covers there arses for while.i didn't see much difference in fitness if anything we were flat.(Kildare) game and were doin warm ups for near 50 mins. So that's a load of sh..ye far I concerend and I SAID SO

Any truth to rumours of mass exodus of players from last year's panel?

By the looks of an instagram post, O'Coileain and Harnan are away travelling.

Part of me hope Longford beats us so we avoid an embarrassing defeat against a fully professional outfit.

We'll probably beat them though so I really hope Andy plays a second string team and has the lads peaking for the inevitable second round qualifier. We want to make the super 8 so putting out his first team to a Dublin hammering will not aid that goal.

Dublin already have won 8 in a row imo unless Kildare can catch them. Doubt it happens. Bring on the league.

I was waiting for this to pop up, I have heard rumours about Harnan and O'Coileain and also heard a rumour that Donal Keoghan is doing a masters degree and wouldn't be available either. All rumour at the minute so I suppose we will just have to wait and see

Never mind Dublin, I most certainly am not looking beyond Longford particularly as it appears we will be travelling to what will be by then a fully refurbished Pearse Park with a maximum crowd, bigger fish than ourselves have fallen on the Longford sword in recent years so we need to have full focus on this and never mind anything beyond

Don't really care about the draw at this stage, the league will be important next year, if we perform well, get promoted and stay reasonably injury free then we can look forward to the championship with optimism. Anyway it's Longford up first and we'll see how we go from there.

Ps, any player leaving the panel to go travelling or focus on their studies etc, then all the best to them, no better time to do it than when you're young. We all love Gaa here but it won't put food on the table.

No excuses this year. It's D1 or bust. That's the goal and in the weakest D2 in years it should be realised.
The championship, realistically, will end with Dublin and then it's down to the luck of the draw in the qualifiers.

For a prolonged summer we needed to get kildares draw.....we would get a tanking in Leinster final v Dublin but we would be one win away from the super 8s. Now it's a first week of july exit again I'm afraid.

Unfortunately I agree with you. We are nowhere near Dublin'a level at the moment and I'd really fear for us if we get over Longford. Anyway the league is far more important to Meath next year, Andy has to get us promoted from Division 2 otherwise it's another year of failure.

Likely to Happen but Lets worry about that after the league..Would Be a real shame to lose Harnan and Rory..The amount of Players that we have lost through travelling and injury is Insane..If Keoghan is not avalible then we may forget about it

Right Harnan , O Coileann and Jones are definitely gone. A doubt about Keoghan committing this year ? It will be well into the league before Tormey and Alan Forde are back to match fitness following cruciate injuries. You cant blame any of these lads that are going away. There is life outside of football. But one wonders would this happen if the GAA and huge outside sponsorship (AIG etc.) had not created a situation that made Dublin professional and left other counties in Leinster with nothing to play for ?

Look if lads are not fully committed perhaps it's better on them to move on at least for a year to refocus themselves on what they want. It's a shame for the county set up, I'd say jones will be the biggest loss of those traveling, Donal, I think his masters has to take precedence, so totally understand that too, when he went to Andy and told him he would play last year but only on the condition he was not captain, and had a couple of mares of games , perhaps he is better off focusing on his degree and coming back afterward.
Plenty of chances for lads to come through and claim a position. Can't wait until first week in Jan
