Mayo ace Cillian O’Connor is set for a spell on the sidelines after having recently undergone knee surgery.
O’Connor helped Ballintubber to a first senior championship title in Mayo in four years in October before his club lost out to All-Ireland champions Corofin in the Connacht final.
The All-Ireland SFC’s second all-time top scorer has since underwent surgery and is expected to return to action "in the coming weeks" as James Horan gets set to embark on a second stint in the Mayo hot-seat.
"The Mayo Senior squad are continuing their preparations for 2019 with training sessions underway in both Mayo & Dublin for the past number of weeks,” a statement from the county board read last night.
"The latest injury news on the squad is as follows: Cillian O'Connor (knee) recently underwent surgery, we look forward to having him back on the pitch in the coming weeks."
