Leitrim Minors 2015

Best of luck to Shane Heslin and his backroom team as they face into 2015. With a good sprinkling of this years minor panel still involved we should have a good enough year. Between Ballinamore Mohill Fenagh and St Brigids we have great young lads. Any thoughts people

It seems to be a good management team once again which for once is to the credit of the county board who have finally started to make sensible decisions when it comes to managerial appointments.
Should be a decent team this year, Dolan from Aughawillan, Reynolds and McGovern from Ballinamore and McTague from Drumshanbo will probably be their strongest players.
Any new additions or players to look out for?

Best of luck to them. We desperately need some talent coming through the ranks.

With Jack Heslin and Ryan O Rourke leading our attack next year we shoul get some scores anyway. Francis Flynn is also minor I believe. Was asking yesterday why was Jamie Stenson or Keith Beirne not on under 21 team. Beirne never turned up and young Stenson suffered a bad injury in a school game. The two of them would have made a difference. Both will also be good for minor next year

We underperformed with a better team last year. Interestingly though the level isnt as good across connacht so we ironically have a greater chance of doing better this year with a lesser one!

I see in Observer this week a good few of last years starting team are eligible for this years team so that should bode well. Pearse Dolan, Peter Reynolds, Conor Cullen, Jack Heslin, Ryan O'Rourke, Conor Dolan, Alan McTigue, Robbie Cunningham and others that were on the sideline. Good experience there. Best of luck to them and their management.

Great win last night for our minors beating Roscommon away by 10 points. Great to get one over on the old enemy- well done lads

Was in Mohill at minor game. Strange day out. Great win albeit lucky. 6 points up and we went 2 behind. Shades of our senior there. But full credit to the battling qualities. Did anyone notice we finished the game with 5 of the 6 backs were recognised forwards ? O,Rourke, Rooney, Stenson, Bruen and Gordon. Stenson and Bruen returning from injuries I was told and Cunningham from Dromahair to be back in next week or so. Donal Feely also will be back. However two players in particular looked unfit and off the pace.
Good showing though. Cautious optimism unlike last years gung ho approach

Williewonka, shrewd observations, but a good spine with Feely, McTague, Cullen, Pearse Dolan, O Rourke and Eoin Dolan (ball winner) feeding Heslin leaves us with a good system of play and the lads are doing well in its execution. Fitness of 2 lads was very worrying, non existent for last 25 mins. Longford were very decent. This minor league is all about getting a system and formation and bringing it into championship. Think our lads seem to be getting it right.

Lads it is very annoying to read posts by "parents" of young footballers who by putting other players down somehow think they are doing their own lads credit. Grow up, leave the running of the team to management and let your own young lads get on with the game. Am sure if there are lads unfit there is a reason or it will be rectified. What does one achieve by running down a minor lad, do they not deserve our encouragement and support. I was led to believe that the goal this year was Championship not League so perhaps it's acceptable for lads to have not yet peaked.

Ok Tom with your rationale nobody should utter any deficiencies as they see them. Surely saying lads fitness is way off is not insulting but encouraging and the fact that it was said on its own shows that we appreciate they are good footballers lacking the easiest thing to work on, fitness. This is the internet, sensitive souls should keep playing with puppies and running through fields of daisies. No minor should be abused and i haven't seen any abuse on this page yet. The minor management are a smart bunch of men but smart men can miss things too as they are usually together watching the game from the same angle. Same perspective means they can also miss crucial aspects.

Bananarepublic you misunderstood my post. By all means should constructive criticism be voiced but to do so in order to boost your own lads ratings (as in some of the posters) is unacceptable and cowardly. I was not at the Longford game but I was at the Roscommon game and did notice that some of the team was not at full fitness, however i did witness a bunch of lads with heart and hunger. I hardly think that the Minor Management look to this Forum for inspiration or advice, it's the young lads who probably read this stuff, that is why I don't believe it serves any purpose to belittle them or discourage them. Personally, I think they're a great bunch and show great promise.

Could someone explain to me why did the minors who played U21 did not play in the League? Maybe the where not allowed to?

Its important to try in get to a Connaught minor final this year. If we can beat Sligo in the first game there is a good chance we could beat Roscommon as they don't seem to be as strong as other years but that said they are always hard beat. Is there some of this years u21's still underage for the minors?

Unfortunately I couldn't get away from work and missed the minor games last night, was anyone there, who was good? Deserved victories?
