Anton Arandelovic from Bmore. . Serious athlete and very strong. . Prob do with a good long-range passer beside him who would hold the middle of the field?? Michael Duignan. . .Maybe Darren Sweeney from manor? Dont know what Sweeneys passing is like tho?

Darren Sweeney is a very good passer of the ball, but M+M had that option last year and never used it. He definitely deserves his chance. Its definitely the most problematic area for the county team, and has been since Christy Carroll retired, who according to some of the Kiltubrid lads was sensational against Melvin Gaels in the league at the weekend. In my opinion, it will be Michael Duignan and A.N other...

true about christy carroll..dominated the game v melvin gaels!!!very hard man replaced...i reckon maybe maxwell could play midfield with mickey D!!we all know of his unbelievable fielding abilities and with damian o'donnell, ciaran flynn, thomas beirne and colm maguire waiting in the wings for a full forward spot,it might be worth a shot!!!

What ever about the o'donnell, maguire is a wing forward and as for beirne no doubting his ability but he will never be a full forward, the lad said himself he's lost in there. Brilliant midfielder should be kept there

From what I saw of the Bors this year, mickyD not good enough for midfield. Has had a very poor year. Was destroyed by fintan mcgourty against manor, with at least 1-4 alone coming off mcgourtys runs forward, while philly mcguinness scored 4 or 5 points off him in the quarter. If he cant survive midfield at club level, no way could he make county standard.

I cant help but notice that most people are ignoreing G McCloskey.
Is that because he is no longer willing to play for Leitrim?
Is he playing for London?
Is he being dropped?
Is he not good enough (in our expert, anonymous cowardly opinions of course)?
I dont know my self but it must be really tough gettin over and back to London all the time.
Have been hearing good things about Sweeney.

alot of very valid points being made but i dont hear anyone mentioning tomas beirne. in my humble oppinion he is the best mid fielder in the county, a replacement foe christy caroll. bringing back the kiltubrid man is a mad idea what age is he, 40!! wel maybe 35, he has done enough for the county and still has not been replaced. mickey duignan is good but is'nt good enough for county. people are saying we need him for strenght?? tomas beirne is plenty strong and will fill into a bigger man. to partner him i would pick his brother mark. most of ye prob think im mad but any of you die hard fans who were at the junior a final before the senior final will know what im talkin about. both men stood head and shoulders above the rest. it was the beirnes against the rest. i mite be junior but i dont think if you put in mc closkey, canning, duignan or any combination they could have done the job they did. they dragged eslin back into the game. mark is a smarter player and a good passer of the ball. both are big, strong, athletic, good fielders of the ball and the fact that they are brothers would only make them fight even more. if not this year some time in the not too distant future it will be beirnes at 8 and 9.

1nightstand I dont think your mad.....I know you are. Totally agree about Tomas Beirne. Think he should be given a chance at midfield. Great Fielder and his runs when in possesion is just what we need to take pressure off the forwards. As for Mark. he is a good footballer but midfield???For 1 he wasnt playing midfield in that final that you were "watching". He played at full back and his man, Colm Maguire was man of the match. In my opinion you have to give big gary aka "G Unit" another chance. Hes been a great servant for the county despite the abuse he took in the early years of his career. Works tirelessly and is a great passer of the ball. Guilty of the odd wayward tackle but that just adds 2 the joy of watching him play!!

nature boy mark and tomas did both end the junior final at midfield. colm mc guire did all the damage when eslin had c reynolds on him. he was able for him so they brought mark back on him in the second half and everyone knows thats why aughavas stopped scoring. then mc guire moved to half forward and beirne followed only later to reverse role wit reynolds and finish the remainder of the game at midfield with tomas. all the switching would confuse anyone but if u were there for the first half u would have been aware of this!!

no not mark as a midfielder anyway.!!
he'd tell ya himself he hasnt either the intrest nor the commitment for
the inter-county setup.maybe as a panelist but not as a starting player.
id agree alright all beirne bro's are very athletic very composed and skilled on the ball
but i would wonder if he'd actually have the patience for it... thats just my opinion
on it but its what i think.

wel if not midfield he would be an ideal candidate for wing back. a taller player that can attack but wont forget his defensive responsibilties. is mc closkey from bornacoola goin to play for leitrim this year??

never mind the junior final, anybody who seen the group match between eslin and aghavas will know that when eslin where 6 points down at half time and mark beirne was moved to mid field himself and tomas formed a partnership which no intercounty midfield would have matched. also in the final when they where in the same situation mark was moved to midfield with the same influance, unfortunatly they didnt get the same result.
