Matches on a Sunday are outdated - 3 Like(s)
In my view the GAA need to move away from the traditional matches on a Sunday mantra. Obviously most of the qualifier matches take place on a Saturday and that seems to have been totally successful. Would it not be better for everyone to be able to attend your county's championship match or league match on a Saturday afternoon or Saturday evening and go out and have a bit of crack afterwards? Of course, some matches should be on a Sunday but that should be just for TV purposes but as far as I'm concerned the majority of GAA matches should be on a Saturday.

Fair play McStay - 2 Like(s)
Referees in this day and age need a TMO in order to assist them with difficult decisions as in potential red cards, debateable penalties and disputable goals. I sent in a thread about the need for TMO earlier which was not put on the forum in a decision best known to the administrator. I also have not been contacted to email to explain why this thread was not put onto the forum which is a total joke. Perhaps, you, Shaggy Legend should become a referee yourself since you obviously know it all. I'm not saying refereeing is perfect at the moment but they are only as good as the numbers that they have available to pick from and with the likes of you bashing referees from the safe sanctuary of being a 'keyboard warrior', how is that going to entice up and coming referees to take on the job. Sure, Shaggy Legend, you go and become a referee and show everybody how easy a job it is.

Revert To Straight Knock Out - 2 Like(s)
Unfortunately there may be no inter county championship this season however if it does go ahead, teams will need about a month to six weeks of training so IF the inter county championship goes ahead, would it be wise to revert to straight knock out like the old days.

Kildare club league fixtures disgrace - 1 Like(s)
What happened in relation to the Kildare GAA club league football fixtures in 2016 was an absolute disgrace. League games were predominantly played on a Sunday evening usually around 6pm or 7pm, I believe the reason for this was so that clubs could avail of players who didn't get game time in the National League however I feel that this was grossly unfair to the club players being tied up all weekend waiting on a match, it affects players ability to socialise, it is not consistent with practises in other counties and with many players in colleges as far away as places as Galway, Waterford and Limerick, it is unfair to ask these students to travel such long distances so late on a Sunday evening.

I hope the chairman of the county board is alerted to this post, so that the absolute joke of what happened last year is never, ever repeated.

Where's Donie Shine of Roscommon? Don't think he's played for them the last good few years at this stage, did he suffer an injury?

Ban Under Age Speeches - 1 Like(s)

Replying To G.A.A._fan:  "As far as I'm concerned there is no need for speeches in under age football, when one of the teams wins, the winning captain should lift the cup and that should be it. All a speech does is put unnecessary and extra pressure on the captain of a particular team. Some guys or girls don't mind it but for others it can be an extra stress. Some captains can be quiet by nature but use their actions to lift or influence their team."
I'm going to say it again, ban under age speeches

Matches on a Sunday are outdated - 1 Like(s)
That's a fair point the Fridge but on the other hand there are also many players who would like the option to go out and socialise on a Saturday night (particularly early in the year before the championship comes closer) but they can't because they're tied up with a league match on a Sunday and also I'm sure there's plenty of players who would like to spend time with their families on a Sunday rather than trekking around the county to play an away league match. Looking at the discussion on this forum, it seems there is a genuine appetite for more Saturday football, I think it would be worthwhile for the CPA and GPA to poll and survey their players to see what the level of interest is for more games on a Saturday.

Mid week National League game - 1 Like(s)
It seems to be ok for U/21 championship games to be played midweek under lights so why not have the odd televised national league game midweek when two counties who are in close proximity to each other play off on a Tuesday or Wednesday night? Would be something to watch during the week and a good advertisement for GAA.
