Replying To totalrecall:  "A joke ..... let's hammer Donegal and mcguinness we're not kilmacud crokes, so the rules apply to us however Mickey mouse they are. A bunch of over officious tanks in the ulster council, defenders of the faith....meanwhile banned manager's blatantly flaunt the ban by coaching club teams"
Its not a bad rule tbf.We can not expect you lads to play minor for their club,U20 for club and County, senior champioship for their club and train full time with a County set up and also have to study for exams. The rules are there to protect players.Donegal made a mistake unintentionally and are getting a bit of a slap on the wrists. No need for everyone to be over dramatic about it.

Replying To TheRock2121:  "Manager and coach needs to be proven. Some sort of record. Just because you kicked a point in 92 or 2012 doesn't make you a good manager or coach. Easy saying pick a Donegal manger but realistically there's no one proven in the county. Martin Ragen is probably the only manager who could hold his hand up and say I deserve it. Based on his record."
Very Good point.Although I do think there is a vast difference between club and County.Aspiring County managers should really manage County u21 or even a smaller county before they step up to senior inter county management.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "[quote=Commodore:  "[quote=Tirchonailabu56:  "[quote=RoryGall35:  "[quote=Commodore:  "I agree with you on players that National media regularly name-checked for the past 5 years or so, like it was usually Murphy, McBrearty or McHugh. In my opinion Michael Langan is one of the top players in the Country if he can stay injury free, he is a phenomenal talent, tall, high fielder, electric pace, can kick off both feet. I would be trying him as inside forward at times if I was manager. Ciaran Thompson is a workhorse player, I think he is key if this Donegal side are going to win anything. Caomhan McGonigle is a power house, comfortable in midfield and can take scores, to me he is similar to Ryan Bradley, maybe a bit more mobile. Peadar Mogan is electric, his pace is unreal and he is a key link player, I would rate him among the best players in the Country. Eoghan Ban Gallagher, his potential is off the chart, injuries have impacted him, but at full fitness he is one of the top players in the Country. Brendan McCole has become an brilliant full back, his athleticism and pace is phenomenal, I think he is in that top bracket. Shaun Patton has to be one of the top 5 keepers in the Country, in kicking terms probably the top 3. Outside of those we have a whole host of talented players who I think have the potential to be ranked among the best players in Ireland. Donegal have an ambundance of talent, its just a case of bringing the team to the All Ireland contender level and giving them the spotlight for National media to realise this."
I definitely think your right..the talent is definitely there especially in our forwards and the emergence of Oisin Gallen has kinda mad almost not us really talking about Michael as much.."]I think Derry have a slightly better squad of players than Donegal and will have over the next couple of years. But one thing I'm sure off is that Jim will have his team setup as good it can possibly be which puts all the pressure on Mickey Harte to get everything right with Derry. If Donegal beat Derry in the championship it will not be because Donegal have the best players, it will be because McGuinnes prepared his team better than Mickey Harte. I'd expect Jim to bring something new to Gaelic football that nobody else has done before but he way wait until next year before he plays that hand and use this season to get the conditioning, defensive setup and transitions etc etc all nailed down first."]I don't think Derry have a better or stronger squad of players, the bulk of their team are probably marginally ahead of us in terms of S&C development in the last year or two, so physically speaking they probably have an edge on our fringe or squad players, but despite this there isn't much between us at full strength. The big problem is Donegal is that we couldn't settle on a back six in the last 6 or 7 years, unfortunately we have shortage of visionary managers who can adapt players for key roles, most coaches in Donegal seem to need ready made midfielders or centre half backs or corner backs etc. Whereas a great manager will adapt players to plug gaps, not just tell them "You're playing corner back on Sunday", but spend months developing them for that specific role."]We had the players but we didn't have the right manager, now we have Jim back we have reason to hope again, declansboy has been on here for years saying that our players weren't good enough, the truth is the management wasn't good enough to get the best out of what we had available. Fermanagh will be hard to beat this day week in our bogey ground in Letterkenny but I expect us to win it by 2 or 3 points anyway because we are stating to click into a dangerous team again."]Taking these games to Letterkenny and Ballyshannon is nuts.Complete momentum killer

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Just listening to the DL debate with Brendan Devenney and Eamon McGee on here on a recorded interview from earlier today I think, it's very hard to make sense of the academy situation etc from an ordinary fans viewpoint, whatever the ins and outs of it I think it's an awful shame what happened and that Karl is gone, by what Eamon McGee is saying Karl was doing great work and it's a just shame it has come to this."
I agree ,I'd say theres a bit of fault on both sides that got blown out of proportion and ended up in a complee mess that will cost Donegal dear in the future. What we got is a failure to communicate and resolve issues.

Replying To thereporter:  "Its churlish to throw out comments like this Many Fans are struggling to afford the basics due to inflation and going to matches isnt cheap See London have free admission to home League Matches But Ticket Prices are up 20% for us Patrons, which was a ****** move by Top Brass Not great value Just feathering the nest as usual Now if stadiums were half decent, thats grand But they are drab, toilets are flithy , poor food options etc No better than an average club match in Donegal Entry fees should be based on the facilities and quality of the Stadium Amazing that the Gaa beat the inflation rate, ordinary fans shafted as always !!"
We have 3 County grounds ,its just crazy.Do Ballybofey properly ,no offence to Ballyshannon but we should not be playing games there.Asking Inishowen supporters to go all the way down there is just crazy.Maybe 1 game to Letterkenny a season, thats it. Overall though people are too hard on the GAA ,I dont really know why ,we are a small country and to have an organisation doing what the GAA does is amazing.

Replying To SouthOfTheGap:  "Its a bit mad alright, and I know I offered an explanation as to why the crowd was poor enough, Saturday at 2 pm not being ideal. But there was more in Ballybofey for the McKenna Cup game against Armagh. We also had a healthy crowd at the Cork game in Ballybofey (no Cork support), and I thought we were well supported in Cavan as well. It appears that 3,000 is about our core support at the minute, which is disappointing, especially when you see both the Derry and Armagh bandwagons in full flow."
Look using these 3 venues is holding back Donegal support,Ballybofey on a Saturday night/sunday afternoon is by far the best location. No offence to Ballyshannon but asking someone from Falcarragh or Carndonagh to go Ballyshannon to a home game is crazy. We should be trying to facilitate supporters not sicken them with crazy journeys. We should be trying to encourage the 2K or 3K supporters back out and make it easy on them.Everyone knows its nuts, the players don't want it I just don't understand why someone doesn't speak up about it.

Replying To AudiMan:  "In light of the huge importance on this Sunday's game and Donegal's terrible record in Letterkenny would someone from management or county board have the wisdom to switch it to Ballybofey. Drastic measures call for drastic action."
Im sick saying it ALL Donegal games should be in Ballybofey. If you wanted to tick boxes for a venue Ballybofey has it.It gets people in the habit of going to games rather than being dragged around the County. Falls on deaf ears unfortunately.
