Kimmage rant at Jim Gavin - 13 Like(s)

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "When Pillar was manager, and even still today when I hear him being interviewed, I cringe. He is the stereotypical arrogant cocky Dub. Great print. Media loved him. Tommy Lyons similarly. Jim didnt want all that BS, keeps the head down, concentrates on the sport and doesnt give Vincent Hogan what he wants, soundbites So now he is treated with contempt. Can't win. See here is the problem. The media WANT the Dubs to be bombastic. They want us to be arrogant. They want the Dubs to be the team the country loves to hate. They want a team of Mark Vaughans led by a manager like Pillar. They dont want a team of Brian Fenton's led by Jim Gavin. Just as an aside, when a cycling journalist and a soccer "pundit" are the most vociferous critics of a GAA team, well........ I'd love to see Joe or Cyril have a pop at Wes Hoolahan for spending his time scratching his arse on the norwich bench in the championship while the other clown tells us all what a world class footballer he is........"
Stupid post. They are not journalists. Wooly and kimmage are

Selective condemnation - 11 Like(s)
Ah seriously. Last year when d connolly was punching lee keegan on the ground the dubs said you cant blame him when someone keeps pulling you back and checking your run. And they appealed it on a technicality. The only problem on saturday was michael dara should have gotten yellow. O gara hit munnelly a real nasty slap in face too. And mccarthy got away with blatant foot trip . Free was given but no black.

Kildare V Mayo - 9 Like(s)
A lot of cowards on this thread and elsewhere this week saying if Kildare lost they would look foolish. In other words waiting for the result of the game to judge. Irrespective of the result tonight it was the right course of action by Kildare. The victory merely underlines that.

Replying To catch22:  "The losers mentality is rampant on here. Knock anyone who raises the bar and cry about why they should be stopped winning."
Raises the bar ?what are you talking about? That's like saying USA have raised the bar at the Olympics and Ireland need to work harder.

Leinster Football The Reality - 7 Like(s)
After Meaths hammering today people will be quick to put the boot in on Leinster. But of the 8 back door teams remaining , 4 are Leinster, 2 Ulster, 1 Munster and 1 connacht. Dublin have killed the Leinster championship itself , but the other teams in Leinster are a match for anyone. Kildare beat mayo last year. Meath almost beat Tyrone. Laois won away in derry yesterday. And on top of this many leinster teams are playing without key players due to the hopelesses of it all. If Dublin moved to any other province they would kill that province too. They are phenomenal.

Stop The Madness - 7 Like(s)
I dont know how the GAA can stand over the madness that is the Championship Draw any more. Roscommon will have a challenge match against New York or Leitrim and then will have two shots to make the Super 8s, by either winning Connacht final or a qualifier. In contrast the loser of Mayo Galway face 4 back door games. Donegal have to beat Cavan AND Derry just to reach Roscommons starting point. JOKE !!

Im sick of this Jim does what it takes to win nonsense. Micheal donoghue proved this year in a more competitive sport that you can be a gentleman and still win. Mick o dwyer proved that too. And he has 8. The act that jim plays is boring . In a professional sport fine. But in GAA its embarrassing and the antithesis of what the GAA represents

Replying To Damothedub:  "The GAA represents the right of volunteers to go about their job their own way and be respected for it. Show me were there is a profile that's right and proper ??? There isn't one which is why you get diverse characters and boring ones Accept it Jim is boring doesn't do Media"
The problems that are accross irish society now are as a result of this attitude. Its all about individual rights and nothing about responsibility. Of course he can do what he wants . But i believe people of high profile have a responsibility to the game and not just self serving stuff.

Leinster Football The Reality - 5 Like(s)

Replying To county man:  "Excluding Dublin, there are alot of Leinster teams who are not bad, but it remains to be seen how many will make make the Super 8's. There are a cluster of Leinster teams in the 11 -16 ranking, but I can't think of any who would make the top 10. The fact is that Kerry and Donegal would have hockeyed Meath today also. Roscommon mightn't have hockeyed them but have won easily enough. Also Mayo, Galway, Tyrone, Armagh, Cavan, and possibly Cork are ahead of any Leinster team too. Laois/ Westmeath/Kildare/Offaly are all decent teams but they would struggle against the best in the other provinces too, so Leinster's woes are not just down to Dublin being so far ahead."
You don't get it. If roscommon were in a province where they had to face the greatest team of all time in their back yard every year , they would soon tail off. Roscommon for example have a realistic shot at silverware. The rest of leinster didsnt.Galway won connacht last year and were embarrassed by Dublin, as were roscommon in the super 8s. They will face them again croke park this year And I predict it will be 10 to 15 points. And this is not an anti Dublin post. It's just a retaliation to the knocking the rest of Leinster gets.

Leinster Football The Reality - 5 Like(s)
I started this thread and my original comments have been vindicated. Tonight's win over roscommon means that in the last 2 years Dublin have beaten roscommon twice and Galway once ( both connacht champions ) by an average of 14 points. You tell me how many years of 18 point beatings in a row would it take before roscommon soon deteriorated. The reality is Kildare laois Meath etc have super footballers and are as good as any teams really , except that being trapped in a province with Dublin eventually takes its toll and players won't commit or lose heart. So the rest of Ireland can back off knocking Leinster Football for a while .

RTE pundits - 5 Like(s)
It's getting worse. Pat Spillane told us he enjoyed the Galway game but no analysis. Martin Carney said a player in the Cavan game was "like a dog trying to shake off a little cat" whatever that means. Tomas O Se said he expected the Cavan game "to be much more tighter". On the radio Tommy Carr reckoned the goal was the difference between the teams in Cavan which was very insightful. And as for Brenda Donoghue and the rest of the Marty Squad ...... give me strength. We deserve better than this. These people are all being well paid by our licence fee. They even give man of the match to the same guys constantly.

Football All Stars 2018 - 5 Like(s)

Replying To clondalkindub:  "Clarke was dropped by his own team in '16 for an all Ireland replay. Dropping Cluxton isn't an option. Listen all the keepers are great and have had great seasons but not to award the greatest keeper of all time the keeper they all copy now on our way to 4in a row is shocking and laughable."
What has 4 in a row got to do with the 2018 all stars ?you gotta be the best keeper of the year. He wasn't. Simple

Will Offensive Mark Favour Some Counties - 4 Like(s)

Replying To sligo joe:  "Stephen O'Brien quoted in the Times today, says the offensive mark will be no advantage to Kerry as their forwards are of such quality that when they get the ball they score anyhow. All-Ireland final replay Kerry, 25 attempts 10 wides, maybe Kerry should prioritise the mark, might bring their score to shot ratio closer to an acceptable "mark"???"
Sligojoe is talking sense. This is always the guff you hear from Kerry. The patronizing punditry of the type "we d have been proud to score a goal like that in kerry" or "in kerry we believe croke park is the only place to beat dublin". Kerry are talented but also tend to have a superiority complex.

Total Injustice! - 4 Like(s)

Replying To heresam:  "I find it incredible the amount of abuse and bitterness there is against this dublin team. Why can't you acknowledge this is a great team. Every paper has the same slant by 90% of journalists. Mackenna kimmage fogarty and on and on and on The majority of us were gracious in our win our players are certainly gracious in their win Just because we are in the capital and the largest county population wise is that why most of you hate us You embarrass yourselves and the gaa with all this nonsense"
Well i ll give you some reasons. 1.your captain cant be bothered to learn a single line of irish to address our president properly. 2.your captain unwilling to give 3 cheers to the opposition. 3. Your manager is unwilling to celebrate . I mean if its no big deal... 4. Your manager crushing any journalist who actually challenges him instead of plamasing. Colm parkinson never got another interview. 5. The sunday game arent allowed mention controversial incidents involving your players so the o gara incident is swept under the carpet. 6. Home games like laois v dublin in 2016 have to be moved to different venues so that all dublin season ticket holders have a seat. Strangely portlaoise was an adequate venue when carlow were the oppisition. 7. 3 incidents of face gouging in last 3 seasons. 8.the hypocrisy surrounding the campaign against lee keegan last year when you see the co ordinated cynicism at end of the game on sunday Thats just a few reasons to start you off

No way did Cluxton deserve one. Beggan and Brody were way more influential. The facts are re Cluxton: Conceded 2 goals v Wicklow Injured early v longford Didn't play v laois or Donegal. Conceded 2 goals to roscommon Conceded two goals v Galway, 1 a howler Conceded goal in final Brody s shot stopping and beggan s free taking were miles ahead.

Replying To TheUsername:  "Kildare have always played big championship games in Croke Park as long as I can remember, the same with Meath. Id say they have played more Championship games in the past 20 years in Croke Park as opposed to Newbridge. Didn't they play Armagh last year in Croker in the qualifiers. Don't remember anyone having an issue with that."
That was different. It was round 4 which are always neutral
