Laois left themselves with one foot in the Joe McDonagh Cup final after scoring a 10-point victory over Kerry in Tralee this afternoon.

It finished 1-25 to 0-18 at Austin Stack Park, where a goal from Mossy Keyes after six minutes set the tone for the visitors.

The O’Moore men went on to hold a 1-10 to 0-7 lead at the half and the points of Aaron Dunphy, Aidan Corby and Keyes secured the victory that now leaves them on the cusp of a first final appearance in this competition since their 2019 triumph.

Elsewhere, a late, late point from Tommy Doyle earned Westmeath a 1-25 to 3-19 draw with Down in Ballycran while Offaly were comfortable 5-31 to 3-16 winners over Meath in Navan where Oisin Kelly, Killian Sampson, Charlie Mitchell, Dan Bourke and Adam Screeney all netted for the visitors.

The results mean that the winners of next weekend’s clash between Offaly and Kerry look most likely to face Laois in this year’s decider while fourth placed Down are also still in with an outside chance.
