Herity points to do or die clash against Exiles

Kildare manager David Herity admits that the focus is now on retaining their Christy Ring Cup status.

Following their second defeat in the campaign, the Lilywhites are now in a relegation battle as they prepare to face London in Ruislip on Saturday week.

This is a far cry from just 12 months ago when Kildare defeated London in the Christy Ring Cup final.

Now the sides are battling to avoid a relegation play off and Herity stressed to the Leinster Leader that it won’t be easy going over there and trying to get the win.

“Any team that is down in the Christy Ring Cup, unfortunately until they manage to keep all their players together then it is going to be really difficult to make those building blocks and try to improve on it,” said Herity.

“And that’s where Kildare need to be over the next few years; try to get a panel together and stick together and learn from these mistakes and build on it. We need to get those brilliant players from the minors and under-21s to start feeding in to the senior panel.”
