A week is a long time in football.
Just ask goalkeeper Maghnus Breathnach who, seven days after being the penalty shootout hero for Galway in their Connacht FBD League semi-final victory over Mayo, made a costly mistake in An Spideal's All-Ireland club IFC semi-final defeat to Naomh Eanna in Navan yesterday.
Breathnach was playing fly 'keeper in the first half when he lost the ball near the 45-metre line and Naomh Eanna's Joe Maskey took full advantage by sending a soaring shot to the empty net.
After the game, Breathnach admitted in a tweet that he was devastated over his mistake but said he won't allow the criticism to get to him.
TweetDevastated is an understatement today, keyboard warriors will have a field day but very proud of what our club has achieved in the last year. Mistakes happen and unfortunately I hold my hand up today but the head will be kept up.Wishing @NaomhEannaCLG the best of luck. #FósBródúil
