My wishful thoughts for 2o24 include seeing Fermanagh doing well, particularly in the league. Although some have deserted them, there still remains a fine bunch to take the team's ambitions forward. Secondly, I have also a wish to be able to channel my frustrations regarding a particular irritating contributor in a tangible way. The inspiration struck when I tasked my older primary school pupils with writing letters to Santa, requesting a gift experience. So, I also penned a letter as follows. Dear Santa, I hope this letter finds you well amidst the joy of the season. My most cherished wish is for a unique experience. If, during an intercounty GAA game, an opportunity arises where a self-proclaimed Fermanagh fan named macca999 is ejected from Brewster Park stadium for misconduct-be it directed at the referee, officials, or any other unruly behaviour-please grant me the unforgettable experience of escorting him out by the scruff of the neck. I envision frogmarching him to the gates and banging them behind him, all while someone captures this comical episode for subsequent pleasure viewing. This imaginative encounter would far surpass the delight of finding socks or any aftershave beneath the Christmas tree. Gratefully, Enniskillen Teacher

(1) I think you mean scrappy. It depends on your interpretation of scrappy, but I would read it as both teams being determined on Saturday to sacrifice professional expedience for scoreboard tallies. macca999 - Realistically was going to be hard for Fermanagh to beat Cavan again, especially as we had exerted more effort last week, while Cavan started stronger team last night and had more edge to their game throughout. (2) I think you mean "Realistically, it…" Well, I would differ, as Fermanagh were better overall in the league campaign as proven by the them topping the table and therefore the number one team to be promoted. Saturday's game could have realistically gone either way as Fermanagh, if they hadn't have wasted their opportunities in the first half, might have been the victors. There was more urgency about Cavan in the second half and probably because they didn't want to be shamed and humiliated a second time in the space of two weeks. Ball dispossession was our weakness in on this occasion, something Donnelly will have to work on. Macca's analysis is not only loaded with a lot more grammar errors but some unjustified assumptions. I could go into every one of them in detail, but I don't have the time as my next class starts shortly. However, we look forward to you all at our Brewster Park for our championship opener with Derry. A challenging game it no doubt it may be, but I believe Fermanagh will not crumble under the division one team. And finally, I'll leave you with an amusing story. When we were driving down through Cavan, we witnessed a donkey with a blue and white scarf around its neck. One of our passengers remarked that must be Foolsgold! Then to add to the laughter another spoke up and said it could also have been macca if it had a green and white scarf!"

Realistically was going to be hard for Fermanagh to beat Cavan again, especially as we had exerted more effort last week, while Cavan started stronger team last night and had more edge to their game throughout. First half Fermanagh had enough possession and opportunities to be further ahead, some costly placed balls missed, although we moved the ball a lot slower allowing Cavan to get into defensive shape, which was down to them but the movement/lack of options off the ball helped them cut off the attacking threat. McGurn took has goal well, learned from chances missed against Westmeath, Luke Flanagan had a solid game while Aidan Breen and Ryan Lyons had decent displays. As expected Cavan had their work done on Ultan Kelm after last weekend, we needed more of our players to take on their men last night in the conditions, too often it was a run across or sideways.backwards pass. Unlike recent games we had too many turnovers and unforced errors(22 mentioned) which Cavan punished, only for some good saves by McNally could have been 2 gaols added to scoreline. Overall a very satisfying league game, 6 wins out of 8 games and promotion secured to Divisions 2, good signs of progress and more experience for the young squad, certainly would have taken that at outset. Looking ahead to the Derry game, its going to be toughest game played in long time given their progress and momentum, huge step up. Cavan had great success when pressed our kickouts to go long, we hardly won any ball in middle against a more physcial Breffni side, Gallagher will have noted this and Derry are on another level physically in their with Glass and Rodgers so we will need to work on this as inevitably will be pressed high. Derry are blessed with good man markers, McKaigue will most likely be put on Kelm to limit his influence on game, with this in mind i think Quigley will need to start to give Derry something else to think off in defence. Quigley has been used to good effect in league but think has improved fitness in last month plus against Derry cant go 4/5 points down, game be over and no point bringing him on for rescue mission. Also for his ability off placed balls, until last night in league we havnt had many frees to be hit but showed last night that need reliable free taker on pitch and this be vital in Brewster Park in fortnights time. The break will do the team no harm as been a intense league campaign with many positives, hopefully get them to recharge batteries and look forward to championship game back in Brewster Park"

Grrr... it frustrates me to see outsiders from a different jurisdiction commenting on our county senior team players. To add to that annoyance, there's the Macca multi poster making an impractical and nonsensical comment about transferring club players from Monaghan. This thread is being degraded by such people!

OMG we have an intruder giving his opinion of Fermanagh forum users. So a user from Cavan using some fool name thinks he is qualified to make assessments of our indigenous Fermanagh fans? Well that takes the biscuit given that macca999 causes such outcry at times from multiple fans. How many Fermanagh people go into a Cavan thread and criticise? I think it would be nil.

New Fermanagh Manager - 2 Like(s)
I think there silence says a lot about them (the player). Some of the rumours doing the rounds about McGrath's treatments of players is quite damming of the man. He has spoken to numerous outlets about the incident since the heave yet they haven't disclosed anything. They don't want to tarnish his reputation but he's willing to do it to the players. That for me says everything. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts:4343 - 19/07/2017 13:38:17 If McGrath had to step down gracefully, most people would have had some respect for him. His onslaught of player criticism and private changing room revelations from his perspective really diminishes the standing of the man. I know it takes two to tango but the players have collectively remained reserved and thereby have made McGrath look even more of a pathetic rejected manager.

In response to macca999 - You said "Lucky its Man City (who nobody supports) in champions league final" - Well I think you'll find Man City are now triple title winners this season with a very large following! In response to FoolsGold - You said in response to macca999 "He rattled you're cage anyway. Not hard done" - Who asked you to poke your nose in - mind your own business as you were total last year. In response to Kesh GFC - You said "So I think we have found our level .. drawing with Wexford and collapsing to Antrim .. i mean Antrim .. I mean carlsberg don't do collapses but if they did Antrim would be the template" - Considering you have hadn't the courtesy to apologise for your derogatory comment about Antrim you have some cheek reappearing again. In response to Fermanagh's exit from the Tailteann Cup 2023 - How could this happen, following the team's promotional success to D2, to be booted out by a lower tier county team? It's really shameful. Heads should roll.

Thank you everyone for the support via the likes! It seems that an AI-created image of my "frogmarch macca" desire is circulating on TikTok and gaining popularity, a social media that I haven't joined yet. In reply to the Galwegian, I stand by every word I expressed regarding the players who recently deserted the Fermanagh team, citing non-convincing reasons. I also maintain my stance on venting my frustration with the self-proclaimed Fermanagh fan who consistently offends players with his insensitive and narrow-minded opinions on this thread.
