Penalties are no way to sort out a game. Monaghan's progress is just down to luck. I bet they not go much further!

Replying To McGuirk1985@:  "Dry your eyes, fermanagh clown"
Show a bit of respect mate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If Monaghan fans truly believe that their team can beat the the Dubs, then I respect their opinion but from my perspective as a neutral I don't share that view.

Replying to points50swiththeargyllsonthewrongfeet (Tyrone): Dublin-Kerry final. Monaghan are limited. Game, and have a couple of fading oldies, and have great spirit and will do their best (which is more than you could say about Tyrone, who are in dire need of an urgent change of management, just as they have been for the last 18 months, if co board could summon up the necessary ruthlessness, which is unlikely, given that they persisted with Harte for 5 years after it was obvious he could no longer deliver), but it will not even be close. Derry are quite a good team, but - no matter what they say in public - they deep down do not believe they can win it. Insufficient tradition, and it matters when the finishing line is in sight. Kerry and Dublin are different animals in semis and finals, and to beat either in a semi or in a final is hard, and Derry do not have enough self-belief to achieve that. So a Kerry Dublin final, and the good thing for a neutral is that it's one of those games where either team could win handsomely - or it could be v close. Because of how hard it is to call, one to look forward to - Kerry won't want a bunch of Dubs with 9 medals, that's for sure. That may be enough to tip the scales for Kerry ... What a brilliant and honest post by points50swiththeargyllsonthewrongfeet (Tyrone) in the All Ireland Championship thread. A Tyrone man telling off his team management - citing the county is in dire need of change! Says Monaghan are limited, with a few fading oldies! And indicating that Derry will more or less win the Sam in their dreams!

As for TurnipHead' comment, someone who I normally wouldn't see eye-to-eye with, does on this occasion have a valid viewpoint on the foreign game as it has had a negative effect in own club so I absolutely disagree with Hairyhorses, Bailah and their likes in the GAA family. By the way please have a read at macca999's and the GalloonBaffoon's posts as they have similar writing aspects which poses the question is macca and the baffoon one and the same Jackal and Hyde guy who takes contradictory standpoints? Maybe, the writing expert, EknTeacher may be able to disseminate the text?

I know who I'll be cheering for and it won't be Tyrone who are hard to listen and are too much in you face. We in our town are true Fermanagh supporters and that's the way things will stay. So I hope that's loud and clear...come on Kerry!!!

Like our Irvinestown festival (sorry outside of town festival to the townies regret), Fermanagh club league footie has too become boring and needs some radical thinking to boost interest both in attendance and for the sake of players whose vision is more about championship success than the sport itself. From what I can see, many clubs have focussed too much on having grand facilities rather than on the players and this is also reflected at county level where material development gets too much focus too leaving the weakish link being in low value management resulting in both Fermanagh and club teams never achieving anything worthwhile and national success is just a pipe dream. As far as I see once the county stuff is out of way any decent players head away and what's left is the run-of-mill players who look forward more to a rip at the weekend than the game itself. The senior club players are becoming more and more depending on young players barely out of youth footie to make up a team which I suppose is contributing to the lack of quality play expected at this level of the game. Ok there is some decent work going on at underage development but the results in recent years has shown this not to be as productive as it should be. I'm not sure what the answers to how things should go forward in the future but one thing I know that something needs to be done soon or we'll end up with a county known just for recreational football and too much grandeur in facilities with the poor GAA folk of the county coughing up to meet the costs. I'll finish with this question, is our county board capable of tacking the these issues or are they just a bum on a seat until their time is up?

All Ireland Quarter Final. - 1 Like(s)
THE DEMISE OF TYRONE SENIOR COUNTY TEAM... I just received a text from back home in Ireland to say that Mayo beat Tyrone by 13 points to 12 in the quarter final of the All Ireland football championship. A bit shocked but not surprised as Tyrone were lucky to win the Ulster c'hip from what I hear. Fair play to Mayo who had to redouble their efforts after their provincial lost and come through the back door and weren't rested like Tyrone for 3 weeks. I assume the Tyrone supporters realise now that their new team are not yet ready to play with the big boys in the All Irelands' and it will take another few years , if at all, to make their way to an All Ireland final! Anyhow, a massive congratulations to Mayo!
