Down Manager Alleges Sectarian Abuse - 4 Like(s)
Little do they know the very ground they where playing in was burned down by the uda in the past twice, many of men on the down team have wives whom are Protestant, it's not something that's ever been an issue within our community. We play hurling for the love of OUR national game, and we don't care if your catholic or Protestant, if you share our love for hurling, your welcome in down. Shame on the Carlow men, they know who they are, would be a big statement if other lads stepped up and called them out but I doubt that will happen hope they are well punished

Replying To keeper7:  "Slaughtneil V Ballycran?"
I'm backing ballycran, my club and I know the lads personally. Big outsiders and have been from the start. Dunloy where the favourites and look what happened them, at the end of the day it's 15 men against 15 and on our day we can do it. (Ballycran the only team to beat slaughtneil in ulster in 5/6 years I think)

Replying To keeper7:  "Was it live-streamed/televised? Would've loved to have seen TG4 cover it. How many were in attendance?"
You can find it on downtv, there's also a link on the down gaa facebook. Well worth the watch. Also was a very good attendance considering the late notice of venue change

All Ireland Club Final, Kilmacud V Glen (Derry) - 1 Like(s)
Have to say I seen a photo of the last attack and the extra man definitialy influences the final play, if the man on the line had come of the players would have set up different they'd have filtered back one. There is a photo where you see the two crokes players around the Glen man on the ball so if they'd have filtered back potentially only one would have been around him and his movement/time on the ball would have been different. This needs a response and sorted, I personally don't think glen would seek the replay but a fair response and some sort of punishment

Hurlers Who Where Never Lucky Enough To Win A All Star - 1 Like(s)
Just wondering if there are any hurlers in particular who where maybe good enough but never actually won an all star. For me, noel keith from my club ballycran is one of the the best goalkeepers to ever grace the pitch, definitely the best to come out of Ulster and if hed played for any other county than down, hed have certainly had an all star. Few more mentionable names in down over the years such as Paul brannif and big magic, but for me noel Keith is certainly one who should have had an all star. Anyone else?

Replying To Bon:  "Noel Keith gave some service in fairness."
Anyone who knows off him cant deny his ability. I've yet to see Ulster produce a better keeper, and I'd rank him up there with the best on the island. But wondering if there are any other hurlers out there who maybe got cut short of an all star??

Replying To Sportsfanatic90:  "Now the dust has settled hopefully the admin will let me have my say. I had a great grá for down football since the early 00's coulter, Poland Clarke etc but ever since kilcoo came on the National stage and their attitude this cocky stuff doesn't kick scores. Delighted they were bet, if they spend less time focusing on themselves and playing as a unit they'd have won tailt. Too much focus on appearance and disco muscles and not enough of the fundamental basics of football, pass & go, kick from distance. Fair play o rourke"
Clearly haven't been watching down football in recent times By the managers standards this season is a fail, but this was his first with the lads who where miles of the pace in recent times so there would have been a lot of work put in to the physical side. I for one think this was a good enough year and one the lads will have gained the experience for next year and the coming years. Have to remember also Barry ohagan blow was massive for us he has been our top marksman for a while also so hopefully he comes back better than ever. The stigma of "killcoo lads or manager" is the reason for so so long our county has suffered. They had their reasons for not sending many men they had a goal and a dream which they achieved and absolutely fair play to them. With the lads involved this year two or three of them haven't put a foot wrong and can be proud of their performance in the final, the other lads have now learned a lot and know what must be done to improve. Down gaa is in a better place than last year and that's simply down to the manager. There's no doubt in my mind he's the best man for the job tho I would maybe like to see him over see the development teams and under age teams to an extent. Down need to develop a style of football and stick to it and start it young so when the boys get to minor and u20 they're competing with the top teams, lavo is at the wheel and I shall be following!!

Hard not to mention the 5 brannigan boys all starting on the kilcoo senior team who won the Ulster. All 5 are so skilled and passionate about football and their club cant wait to see them in action in January as I feel they can push on. They've tasted the success they've so long craved, now they will want more.

Replying To Ballygalgetmad:  "[quote=THEMOLE2:  "That comment and after watching McManus yesterday (excellent he was) just sums up your ineptitude (get a dictionary and look up that meaning) and knowledge of hurling in Down...you are an embarrassment coming out with comments like that."
Excellent my god I take it you know nothing about hurling r watching a different game"]Disgrace to the county, support the boys no matter who is wearing the black and red jersey or don't support them at all. Club rivalries go out the window at county on the pitch supporters should learn to do the same. And any non ards player on the squad certainly deserves their place. As for your comment about a 17 year old marking him out of a game, different games require different standards, McManus is a deadly player as a county we have lots of deadly players, hopefully Chris Egan can get fit, tho he had a poor championship by his own standards last year he was different class and would be good for the county. Mutely back to is very good for defence and Barry trainor all in all this is the best down team I've seen in a while and it's a very young team who have tasted defeat in the final and certainly won't want it again

Easy enough win, only conceded 1 pt in the first half from what I hear the boys all stood up and performed.

Replying To RedDog68:  "Well maybe if the best players in the county would play for them then we wouldn't have this problem. Manager can't be blamed for what players want to play for there county too many cry babies who want to be chased after, good luck today lads!!!"
In my opinion most of them lads are the best in the county, not many lads I'd start before them, maybe a certain Hughes in corner back over young mallon but other than that, that's a strong county panel and all we can do is get behind the lads and support them

That man would be an asset to any club or county, his record speaks for itself, what a result for kilcoo today. Mickey Moran knows his stuff and wherever he goes, gets results. Be fun and interesting to see this kilcoo team in the all Ireland series I for one am excited.
