Club Hurling Team of the Year: further cause for celebration for Ballyhale Shamrocks

Ballyhale Shamrocks’ achievement in winning back-to-back All-Ireland Club SHC titles has been recognised with five players on the AIB GAA Club Players’ Awards team of the year.
Joey Holden, Darren Mullen, Evan Shefflin, TJ Reid and Colin Fennelly all make the cut while defeated finalists Borris-Ileigh have four representatives on the team – goalkeeper James McCormack, defenders Paddy Stapleton and Brendan Maher, midfielder Dan McCormack and full-forward Jerry Kelly.
There are five clubs represented overall with Slaughtneil duo Chrissy McKaigue and Brendan Rogers included along with Shane Cooney (St Thomas’), Dessie Hutchinson (Ballygunner) and Martin Kavanagh (St Mullin’s).
The awards will be presented at a special banquet in Croke Park this Friday night and the identity of the AIB GAA Club Hurler of the Year will also be revealed.
Ballyhale Shamrocks duo TJ Reid and Evan Shefflin are in the running for that award along with Borris-Ileigh and Tipperary star Brendan Maher.
