Cork's Commemorate Jersey - 7 Like(s)

Replying To Mayfair:  "Cork the Rebel county but if we are celebrating history we should be accurate! In 1491, yet another pretender to the English throne - a man named Perkin Warbeck, claiming to be the Duke of York - arrived in Cork City. The majority of the people of Cork - including the Lord Mayor - stood behind Warbeck. It is because of this apparent support of Warbeck that Cork became known to the English monarchy as 'the rebel county'. Another jersey maybe?"
That's only a theory not a fact

Things That Seemed Ridiculous At Start Of Decade That Actually Happened - 5 Like(s)

Replying To TheHermit:  "We won't change, we'll still be sending out great teams, great players to compete and win, and win the right way - long after your county is split in twain or more. And in a brief moment of contemplation (if someone of your base level of intellect is capable of such a feat) you might wonder whether a few titles won the way you were allowed win them really was worth destroying Dublin as a single county identity. Because with the way all factors are going, the split of Dublin is inevitable... I don't want to see that happen but what choice will the GAA have unless they think the GAA community at large will stomach 9 or 10 in a row."
The split isn't inevitable, if Kerry won that many would Kerry split? Stop being bitter because Kerry aren't winning All Ireland's

This is a gaa forum not boxing or soccer or any other sport. Can we not leave this purely gaa or does everything we do have to be infiltrayed by other sports. If you want to discuss boxing, soccer, curling etc go to those forums. Thank you"
If you go into soccer forums there is more often than not a non soccer section, so stop being bitter

GAA Stadiums - 3 Like(s)

Replying To StoreysTash:  "No, what I expected was 1. A properly costed stadium in line with the number of big games it will hold every year. It didn't need to be a behemoth for a handful of games and maybe a concert here and there? 2. For GAA members/supporters/etc not to have to pick up the cost and management of the financial affairs. What would you be saying if it was in Leitrim or Longford? "Here's our cash lads"? I am not one who thinks that a fine stadium should not be built, but it has to be realistic for what is needed for in the first place. A 50k stadium in somewhere like Portlaoise or Tullamore, which are probably within 2-2.5 hrs drive for most of the country, are on or near train lines, etc would have been money well spent. This was not. I'm not somebody who thinks GAA people should be sitting on concrete benches or the toilets don't need to be well fitted out, I love seeing stadiums being developed but there has to be a bit of reality as to location, cost and value for money."
Problem is can towns like Portloaise cope with capacity of a higher stadium, there is more things that must be considered then simply building a stadium in a small town
