Is K Clarke away yet? This is normally around the time of year he goes.

Wouldnt blame any player for leaving the panel, you give your all for a few years, train hard, give up alot of things, and then youre exposed to this nauseating defensive rubbish that has done nothing for Cavan Football over the last 4 years.

And to those of you who said Hyland brought discipline to the team, what a loads of nonsense, it was sending offs, and black cards that contributed to some of the important losses this year. Our tackling is pathetic, pulling and dragging like kids in a school yard.

you have completely contadicted yourself so how can you expect people to take you seriously??

You have said that people thinking we are as good as Monaghan (apart from McManus) are deluded. This suggests that you believe we are a worse team than Monaghan.

If you think this, then why in another post (or many many repetitive posts) do you condemn the management team from implementing a defensive game plan which gives us a chance of competing with Monaghan??

If we are not as good, then going man to man and playing open attacking football is a sure way to lose.

Please explain.

There a certain few squad players who will never get s game and there a certain few favourites who will never be dropped no matter how bad they play. That's management with blinkers on. By land always said that he would play players on club form but he has ignored Barry Reilly Declan Meehan and seanie Johnston the 3 best club forwards in last years championship. So tell me where is the incentive for any club player to even be interested if Hyland can't be true to his word.

If its that much of a chore to players then they should defo leave the panel and you make it sound like they are all forced to play as some sort of punishment. I'd say most leave for other commitments rather than it being a chore. However, leaving panels is nothing new and then again I suppose its better than being kicked off for being on the sauce or other stuff..

Not correct Meehan was asked to join the panel but turned it down as was moving abroad. Seanie Johnston has been injured had an operation at the end of last year and hasn't played since. From what I saw of Barry Reilly this year he hasn't done enough yet to justify his place on the team.

cavanman47 - My point is we matched Monaghan on the day, and had the management not reverted back to defensive mode we could have beat them.

If you read my previous posts, I also said that if we played Monaghan 10 times, theyd beat us 9.

People on this forum have said that we are as good as Monaghan, that was after playing them once this year, yet we lost.

If we were as good as Monaghan, tell me why were are in Division 2 and they are in Division 1?

How long was the Banty with Monaghan, pumping resources into them year after year. What did they win in that period & up to today ? Have they any Ulster provincial senior titles, any U21 titles ? No. Every county requires a "Banty style period", to gain improvement & set a team on the road for possibly success. We don't have the luxury like Kerry or Dublin, where Jim Gavin or Eamon Fitzmaurice can just walk in at the start of the year & he knows at the minimum he should at least win a provincial title & at worst get to an AI semi or final.
It takes time to build a team, yes cavan have been building etc for a few years now. People are frustrated & want results & progress & trophies. But look at the injuries & people unavailable this year due to no fault of the management. Keating, Givney, Alan Clarke to name just a few that come to mind. They may or may not start, but by god it fairly adds to the panel & strengthens & makes competition for places. That's the difference Monaghan's panel made in the last 20 minutes. If we had that calibre of player to spring from the bench, we would of won. Simple as.
So quit the moaning, the lads are working hard. Ok, not every likes the style or management. But perservere, it should be much easier to tweak the attacking aspect of the game than to tweak the defensive side, which has been dramatically improved so far.
Peace out.

We played Wicklow in a league game 3 years ago with 4 of the team that played against Monaghan. So what exactly are we building? Chopping and changing . Even changing a goalkeeper before the first round all because of his free taking but when the pressure was on he kicked 1/3. And we lost by 1. There the calls we are getting wrong. Cody from Kilkenny gets the big calls right ALL the time. We can't get them right even once! And that's a management problem.

Just_the_facts.... Did Banty not get to 2 Ulster finals in his 6 years . 6 years that Tyrone and Armagh were at their peak. So I think it's a fair good achievement . Our man got us past the 1st round once! Big difference.

Awwwwnow, gonna pull you on that one about the goalie. The 45 he should have got but the other one was 55+. When has it become the norm to knock these over. As i said in an earlier post there wasn't one of his pin point kickouts lost all game which is the other side of the argument. By the way if my memory serves me correct Beggan got 0/2 from similar ranges.

I don't mind moaners having their say but by god you need to be a bit more balanced and look at things from different sides. If your not them why be on a forum at all. Whether the glass is half full or half empty the first thing you need is a glass.

Chopping & Changing ?
Guys get old, get injured & can't give the commitment every year. Do you keep playing them ? Or when do you introduce new players ? People give out that "this or that lad" is on the team 6 years straight & is no good or is the managers pet. Players have to be changed & integrated to the team eventually. Some managers clear out the dead wood & some keep old faces as they have a good impact on the dressing room or deserve to be there.
Cody is blessed with an abundance of talent, stevie wonder could manage KKenny & win AI titles. That's not a fair comparison to make in my opinion. The management tried something, it didn't work on that occasion. At least they were open to the idea. Galligan normally would slot those in his sleep. His first proper competitive game of the year in that position. Pressure can do funny things to anybody in any given scenario. Ask any free taker. Ok, should the management of given him more game time ? His goal keeping duties & kick outs were top class from what I can recall. He missed 2 frees. Can happen. People gave out that Gilsenan cost us on numerous occasions previously. So how does the management win. Were Cavan, we have to be realistic with our goals, it takes time but most importantly we have to learn from our mistakes. Management have to hang their head though in some instances.

Deanmartin / Awwwnow you got it there in a nutshell..........Cody from Kilkenny gets the big calls right ALL the time. We should try to get him up here or what about Shefflin ?? Class

As I said Cody gets these big calls right all the time. Name 1 instance where our man got it right once and it changed a game to our advantage? Just once. Let's talk facts here . We won an u21 in 2011. How many on the senior team regularly. How many made the breakthrough from 2012 team still on it? We talk about underage success and team building but what's coming through? Who are they? Dunne Martin Reilly Mackey lyng Wernt involved with the u21s so what forwards are coming through? McDermott seems to be the only regular forward from the 2011 u21 team. Wow! That's some team building. Take a bow Terry !!

But does Cody get the big calls right ALL the time ? The fact that he had such a talented squad of players, perhaps he made wrong calls, but because the players are that good, it went unnoticed. Papered over any misjudgements or errors Cody made. Yes he is an extremely successful manager there is no doubt about that & he isn't afraid to make the hard calls when it comes to players etc. He is a rare breed & counties envy the Cats success.
As for our own managements decision making. Does the winning of every match hinge on any one decision ? If we play 10 games & win 9, 1 match might hinge on a switch or a change of tactic etc. Predominantly games are won by a multitude of factors, intensity, skill, decision making, team spirit etc etc. I don't attend as many games as I would like, so I can't offer you the definitive instance you have asked for. But I know enough to cut the guys some slack, they don't train as much as they do, to lose come the weekends.
What's coming through ? I don't know the reason why all these players are not on the panel. Guys drift away after college, they get jobs further a field, get into relationships, go travelling, get injured, lose the appetite, have more important goals, are happy just playing for the club, aren't in a managers plans, fall out of favour, get fed up of hearing **** roared at them from the terraces & stuff being wrote about them on forums, simply are not good enough, - there is a host of reasons as to why these guys have not progressed to senior level. There is only so many places on the panel.

My gripe is purely with the management not the players. 3 games this year all at home Kildare down and Monaghan we led then changed our tactics and it backfired. 3 games on the spin same end result. That's my gripe with the management. They not learning and Mr Forde is ranting and raving on the sideline blaming everyone and everything he can except what he should be blaming. His own management who are not fit to close a game out.?end of story. Now the pro Hyland brigade can post til they blue in the face but the facts are our management are not good enough for the task ahead. 3 times they proved that already this year
